Examples of a Wrestler TRULY Being Put Over
Boxer replied to zappafrank's topic in General Wrestling
No. That match was booked all wrong for Goldberg. It went too long and he sold too much. Goldberg works best in short, explosive matches where he doesn't have to sell a lot. It's not that he's bad at selling, it's that the crowd die when he starts selling. They don't want to see it. They want Goldberg to generally kick someone's ass around the ring, maybe sell a little, and then fire back and hit the jackhammer for the win. I think may things killed Goldberg that night. I agree with the NON quick finish to the match. It should've been just 2-5 minutes. Secondly, they changed his look. Black trunks and black boots are all Goldberg needs. Lastly, changing his music totally killed him. If he still had the WCW theme music it could've work. On one quick note, I think the promo The Rock cut before the match also killed the momentum. Calling him "good ol' whisker biscuit" and I think he called him "punk ass bitch" too right? That totally got the Rock over Goldberg which was the exact OPPOSITE formula they needed. -
1992 was pretty bad all due to Vince almost going to jail. Or was it 1994? Also, was it 1996 or 1997 that the WWF was bleeding money and almost went under?

There goes Sandman as Raw GM.

Anyone give a damn about the "supposed feud" between 50 Cent and Kayne will be settled today?

Source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter - Kevin Nash continues to push TNA Wrestling to sign Scott Hall and Sean Waltman. Nash has told TNA officials that Hall has cleaned himself up and is back in wrestling shape. TNA has sent feelers out to Scott Hall on getting a potential deal done and have continued interest in Waltman.

Speaking on behalf of a lot of Cubs fans, the general feeling with Sammy is that we were deceived, not just by his surely steroid-influenced performance, but by his character as well, and no matter how many homers he hit, he's been removed from the pantheon of Cub greats in the minds of many, even though his career achievements would otherwise put him among Banks, Santo, Sandberg, et al. You may notice that not only is #21 not retired, not only is it not out of circulation, but it's already been given to Jason Marquis. I think that sums up how the organization feels about Sammy, and the fans agree, so kudos to them for doing the right thing and washing their hands of him. EDIT: Today's development: = I just read a story in my local paper on Sosa and how with his career winding down he is accepting the fact that he no longer plays everyday. Just being a humble vet. I am actually surprised Sosa has that image now in Chicago. Imagine if "Bartman" never interferred and Sosa got the Cubs to the World Series and won the thing? Would we have a LEGEND in Chicago then?

So I was thinking about BAD CONTRACTS in the NBA. After much thought, would the correct answer be for fewest bang for the most buck be...... JEROME JAMES?

All these recollections of WCW has got me itching for a Rise and Fall of the WCW DVD. Damnit WWE, give me the DVD. At least give us one pure WCW DVD.
-
My mind is cloudy during this period, but wa Ahmed acting like a heel feuding with Austin? Was the crowd mixed since Ahmed was also a face? Or was it 100% PURE AUSTIN 3:16 crowds?
-
That was an interesting Raw. I knew from the beginning of this thread it would be a letdown. Too bad Jericho was not the kid.
-
Does anyone read WWE magazine? There was an ad in one of the issues a few months ago that hyped up a special "500th issue". Does anyone know anything about this?
-
Why did Ahmed Johnson join the Nation again? Also, why was he kicked out of the Nation so soon? Did it bomb or something? Heel Ahmed looked like one scary dude. Steve Austin vs. Ahmed Johnson could've worked as a mid-card feud for the IC title in my opinion.

From wwe.com: So I guess Cena will drive a zamboni down the ring?
-
Too bad Hennig wasn't still around. Imagine a mark out moment if Mr. Perfect were to bust out that sports jacket and revise the "executive consultant" role once again. I think that right there would end all the talk about "Credibility" issues.

I know it's a stretch but there's a part of me that is hpoing Punk makes the whole ECW brand over, gets himself even more over and makes ECW at least the #2 show on the brand. I would really like to see Punk hold onto the title for quite sometime, but we'll see where that goes.

So it's just down to Cena and Austin for superstar DVD's? Is that Shawn Michaels actually official or not?
-
After posting something in another thread about Shawn Michaels and The Rock, what was the orignal reason for the heat between the two? I believe it has something to do with HHH?

When I think put over and jobbing, for some reason I think THE ROCK. Is it fair to say he tried to make Jericho a star TWICE within 6 months? I think he truly put over Jericho as a World Champion when he beat him for the WCW title and when he established him as a heel at the Royal Rumble. It's too bad Austin and HHH sandbagged Jericho from a great run as world champion. Also, would it be fair to included the Rock putting over Mankind on the RAw where he beat him to become World Champion? Also, I never saw the match but did Rocky put over Angle at No Mercy 2000 when he dropped the title to him? Rock-HHH ladder match to put over Hunter? I guess the Rock was the total package. Had everything, over as hell with the crowd and never bitched about doing a job, UNLESS you name is Shawn Michaels. -
If the wrestling industry starting thinking like that all the time then they wouldn't be able to do half the shit that they do in the first place. There wouldn't be anything wrong with the proposed Flair angle, and the fans would've been into it in a big way over time. and in the end, as long as the FANS buy it, who gives a crap what Hunter and others think.

How did Bob Holly replace Avatar during the 1995 Survivor Series?
-
That Hunter quote is a new one, nice heel turn in the creative meetings. It was simple, they should've given Flair the belt during the World Title battle royal.
-
In his 6 years in the WWE, I would've said it was a flop, but I'm glad he got a Title run eventually. Too bad he couldn't go out one last time as Booker T.
-
I guess the WWE could certainly use Lashley right now. Just curious here, did the WWE ever have Lashley and Batista feud? I don't think that they have and maybe a freshly turned heel Lashley vs. Batista in a powerhouse program once he returns?
-
With everything going on in the WWE locker room from MVP, to Booker, Flair, the 10 suspended guys, etc...... Is ANYONE happy in the WWE locker room?
-
Honest question to you all: Was the Ultimate Warrior still over in 1996? Was the panick move worth it for the WWF for those few months? Should he have gotten a WWF world title run and Michaels' run abruptly ended? Would HBK vs. Warrior face vs. face match work?
