  1. So, ever since 1993, when the Rumble began changing the format of having the winner of the contest meet the champion at Wrestlemania, which year have you liked the booking the best? It's been tweaked a bit due to the brand extension and lately this formula has really stunk. With that said, which years did you like the booking the best and which ones did you hate the most? My favorites: 1994: Simply because they did not know what they wanted to do with either Luger or Bret. The double finish and the proceding double title match made Wrestlemania X an interesting card. 2001: Austin's win and the build up after No Way Out was great. One of the best ever. 2007: I liked the way the Batista-Undertaker build-up was great. Booking I hated: 1995: NEVER, EVER should a heel win again. I mean really, what was the point, although it wasn't the main event, I really don't think Shawn should've won in 1995. 1997: Because everything was such a mess, the Austin win lead to nowhere, in terms of the title match. But it did lead to the Bret-Austin match. I guess it can be said that was the whole point, but it sort of pushed the title away from the spotlight which I didn't like. 1999: Garbage. This booking with Austin and McMahon and that whole Rumble fiasco. Utter crap. Thank god they corrected the Austin-Rock buildup in 2001. 2002: BRUTAL again. Jericho looks like a bitch, HHH dominates, nothing more needs to be said. 2008: I hated the fact that Rumble win meant nothing in terms of Wrestlemania. That Cena-Orton booking just pissed me off. So what are your favorite and least favorite years for booking?
  2. Even before the big Monday Night Wars era began, we still had plenty of stars in the early 90's. Some were old, some were young. Which guys to you fell off the fastest that was a big star in the 90's but couldn't sustain themselves, either from injury, poor booking, or a lack of conditioning? For all the hate HHH, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels get, hey, at least they are still around and pretty much performing at the top of their game. My picks: Ahmed Johnson. I think if healthy, we would've been a star well into the mid 2000's. The WWF was looking to go in that direction, but his body let him down. That, and being sloppy in the ring too. DDP: He was hot around 97-98 but man, his star power fell off fast. Sure, turning him heel wasn't smart and by WCW's dying days and the Invasion, he was pretty much dead to me. His star power didn't even make it to two years. Goldberg: Yeah, he was a HUGE star. But some say it wasn't sustained. Sometime around 1999 he was damaged goods and by 2000 he didn't even draw no more. If he did, WCW would still be in business. Scott Steiner: He had his big monster heel run in 1998 and 2000-01. But the latter push was dead on arrival with WCW being on life support. I'm sure there are more guys out there, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

    The OAO WWE DVD Thread

FUCK BENOIT. I have the Wrestlemania XX DVD, so whatever if they chopped that out. BUT, no debut of the Radicalz? That was one of the best moments in WWF history. Looks like we'll never see that again.

    Sting: 1996-1997

So watching all the old stuff with Sting, the fake Sting, the VERY slow build, the random attacks and his change from surfer Sting to Crow Sting it got my head scratching. While I have to say it was some good stuff on TV, this guy was OVER. Would it be safe to say he was the most over guy in all of wrestling in 1997? We all know what sabatoged him and made him look like an idiot, and that was Starrcade 1997. The question here is though, how much of a star would he have been if he actually kicked the crap out of Hogan and won the title clean at that show. Also, what were your favorite Sting moments during that period where all he did was attack people. I think in the end, is it safe to say that THIS is WCW's biggest mistake ever? Forget the fingerpoke, if this Sting push went as is, we could be talking about Sting in the same light as Rock and Austin of the attitude era? Also, another question, was he doing house shows or anything to keep in shape or did he really collect like 15 months worth of pay between war games 96 and starrcade 97 while doing absolutely NOTHING? I leave, with one of my favorite Sting moments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJQoR6WpCS8...feature=related Got your favorite moments or thoughts on this era of Sting. I completely brush of 1998 because by then, all the aura around him was doomed. When he talked again, it was all over, at least to me, the appeal of crow Sting.
  5. So here's a character that was hijacked and pretty much had his actions dicated at a bad time. But let's back track a bit. In 2004, a character debuts, starts off acting like a face, the character seemed geared towards a babyface. But it was not meant to be. He does start off as a heel. Trying to prove a point. That's all fine and dandy, but did something happen, because the next thing I know is that he is aligned with "terrorists" I use that term loosely and then all of a sudden he becomes what he was against. What was up with that? The potential of this character is what intrugies me. He could've been a decent babyface at the same time he could've been a monster heel, but the London Bombings didn't help him. With that said, here's a few things to discuss. Did you see the potential of the Hassan character to do good or do evil? Did you like the fact that he was ganged up at during the 05 Rumble? Was this character to edgy for WWE TV? After the London bombings what would you do with him as a character?
  6. I'm just wondering, anyone on the board here collect Wrestling related stuff? I don't mean DVD's because I'm sure a bunch of us have them and do collect them. When I mean wrestling stuff, I mean like Replica Belts, T-Shirts, Pictures, Autographs, even the Wrestler's gear themselves. I really don't have anything besides my DVD's and I use to own a Replica Winged Eagle Belt. Anyone else?

    Predictions for 2008

With almost 75 percent of the year done, looking back at this thread, some of you guys were pretty good with your predictions.
  8. Horowitz: Intercontinetal Champion. Oh man, that would be something. Problem was the Clique held that title hostage, so even if they COULD, WWE had no chance getting it off of either Hall or Michaels.

This Day in Wrestling History (Sept. 22)

It's funny, when I just think of this day, it will forever be the day Austin stunned McMahon at MSG.

    Face of the Franchise

Hogan, if you look at him up to 1993 and let's say he did nothing after that, and Austin still blew up, it would be Austin. But, you can't deny what Hogan did with the nWo, so that just cemented him on top as the man, all-time in this business.

So...... is Josh Howard a dead man walking? I am not American, so I can't say how American people feel, but I'm pretty sure Texas is a Red-White-Blue state. I guess the next stop for Howard is Europe.
  14. The only guy I can think of is Flair 1991. Besides that?

WWE General Discussion - September 2008

Isn't the future of the WWE in the hands of Shane's Kid, Steph's kids, and Shawn's kids? I think we'll get some form of DX in about 20 years or so.

Jeff Hardy Strikes Out for the Final Time?

I hope this isn't a sign of alcoholism. If so, will we get Last Call Jeff Hardy?

Jeff Hardy Strikes Out for the Final Time?

Judging by the last two posts, looks like Hardy is F-I-R-E-D. Well, at least he had a nice run. But in the end, he'll probably be like a Scott Hall, always messed up, good mid carder/IC champion, but could NEVER get it straight for the big one.

    Mike Adamle: The Thread

Alright, now that he's..................... ugh............. Raw GM, where does he go from here? From debuting at the Rumble to the tune of WDEF Championship and Jeff Harvey to The Tazz to now as Raw's GM. It's been a strange few months for him and most can attribute him to even being on TV due to that contract. Is it that clear that he's a heel? I mean some just think he's an idiot, but now as the Raw figurehead, where's he going? So a few quick things to throw out here. Where do you see Mike Adamle, Raw GM, as going? Is he gonna draw enough heat as Vickie Guerrerro? We were all skeptical about that at first but some would say she is the #1 heel in the company now and a non-wrestler at that. Book him. You make him a super heel that's just out for revenge? Or do you make him the idiot booker? Constantly makes matches but messes them up? I like the idea of him messing with the whole roster except for Kofi that was mentioned in the Raw thread. Lastly, how long does he stay GM? Is this q quick fix until Vince returns or what?

    Ron "R-Truth" Killings

I have to say, it's been a while since I've been sort of intrigued by a debut. I can't remember the last guy they hyped up this much with that many promos and more to come. The interesting part about him is that he's been in the WWE. We all know how they used him the first time around. Then he went to TNA got a little better and became TNA Champion. So now he's back and using his past real life as a gimmick. With that, here are a few questions. On the Smackdown side is he a face or heel? Will the fans get behind him immediately? Where will he peak at? US Title or WWE Championship? Can he become a big enough star? Where do you see him by Wrestlemania 25?

    Ron "R-Truth" Killings

I have to admit, after watching him the last few weeks, I like some, can also see R-Truth becoming HUGE. He's slowly getting a bigger and bigger pop each week, the entrance is great, and he really brings it in the ring. I really hope they put the US title on him soon down the road. I wonder where he'll be in a year and heck, maybe by the Rumble, he could be pushed strong then.

    The Greatness of Muhammed Hassan

I guess the whole Michaels and Hogan feud didn't help either eh? Again, too bad the way the character ended. It could've been something, especially if he won the US title, he could've gotten over as a good heel or face, depending on how he treated the "United States" championship. The promo of his life: Dude should've turned face right there and then. Damn fans booing, why? He spoke the truth people.

    The NBA Offseason Thread

Nice shorts. Is there a backstory to why he wore them instead of them white pants most of the rest are rocking?
  24. Does anyone think putting the World Title on Hassan after the London bombings would be tasteless or they should've done that in the first place? It looked to me like they were going to go that route but you know what happened.

    Sting: 1996-1997

Sting taking out the whole nWo would've been a great long burn storyline. I would've like to see him kick Hall, Nash and Savage's asses in that order before getting to Hogan. That would've made some momentum for Sting and probably some great buys for ppv's.
