I don't really like the idea of Kurt Angle in ECW. Yes, it gives him a chance to work a different style, but since there aren't any solid mat-based wrestlers on the ECW roster, we won't get to see those shoot wrestling classics Angle's so damn good at. ECW is a step back for Angle, IMO.

After WWE lost the court case over the WWF initials, I think they should have made a deal with the charity to be able to use the acronym on all the old footage, while all the new stuff they produce can't. Even if WWE had to pay for that right, it would have been better than blurring the logo on alot of the DVD's(which is so annoying).
-
That's exactly what I'm hoping will happen, because that's the only way WWE will get the message of just how shit ECW's show was. We all know WWE thinks high ratings= quality, let's hope that myth is dispelled among the top brass this week. They deserve a kick up the arse for producing such rubbish.

I wasn't saying it was a good show, just not as much of a horrible mess as ECW's. Little things like Foley's promo(which was funny) and Sabu's cool spot is how I differentiate between last night's bad Raw and tuesday's ECW(which had absolutely NO redeeming qualities)
-
I beg to differ. Last night's Raw was really bad, but still nowhere near as bad a tuesday's ECW. DX are crap(I agree, enough with the damn male nudity) I'm glad to see that AAE is so over with the fans, despite the crapness of Umaga.

I still find Foley very entertaining on the mic, but I do think he's not as good in the ring as he used to be(which is to be expected, I guess). If were gonna make comparisons here, I'd say Flair was in a much worse position than Foley. As another poster said, Flair jobbing to Umaga is a bunch of crap. I mean, it's not like Undertaker jobbing to that no-talent Khali, because you know sooner or later, Taker will return and seek "revenge"(and beat Khali cleanly), whereas after Flair jobbed the feud with Umaga was quickly forgotten. Foley hasn't jobbed to anyone ridiculous since his current run. As for not sticking to retirement stipulations, Foley's certainly not the only one guilty of that, so I don't think it's fair for us to take out our collective fustration about that on him. Foley would do well to divorce himself from ECW, but I actually like this partnership with Edge(a cool heel), even though the angle was not reasonably explained.

Does Smackdown even have a Main Event scene anymore?
Wrestlefreak replied to spman's topic in The WWE Folder
True. Trouble is, it'll be such an Eddie-centric feud that any decent wrestling will be instantly over-shadowed and it'll do nothing to quell the "Eddie" chants that Rey gets instead of Rey/619 chants he should be getting. Exactly, and I for one will not support any feud that fuels the Eddie chants or where Eddie's memory is manipulated(like in the Orton/Rey feud) I'm not sure whether the Eddie chants will ever stop, but it certainly won't help Rey in the long run and WWE should, at least, try to stop it. Plus, I agree that Rey/Chavo would not be a main-event quality feud anyway. -
The only thing that was worse than last week's Raw, was the absolutely horrible excuse for a tv show known as ECW. On that basis, I've surmised that tonight's Raw could not possibly be any worse. Having said that, I'm always prepared for the worst. Smackdown really is the best programming WWE is currently producing.

I just saw ECW's first tv show. I can't believe how UTTERLY CRAP!! it was, especially considering that ONS2 was a pretty solid PPV(though still not as good as last year's, IMO) . Really, really disappointing. Truly one of the worst wrestling shows ever.
-
1. Heyman is great, IMO. He's an excellent orator and a good performer. 2. I would have loved that too, but it was always unlikely since WCW has been portrayed as a crap promotion by the majority of people within the industry since its demise.

JBL was absolutely great on commentry last night. Regal/Finlay-Gunner/Hardy was really good. Even Helms/Mysterio was good. Mr Kennedy was as entertaining as ever(even though he should move on from jobbers). Overall, a good show.
-
This stable is great. Booker T is great in his "King" role, and Finlay/Regal work really well together as a tag team(I LOVE that stiff, rough style they both have). I agree that the return of Batista could ruin the whole thing though. It would serve no purpose whatsoever, IMO, to have Batista squash the entire group, but sadly that just might happen. Long live the King's court!! P.S. JBL did a great job of putting them over on commentry.

Agreed. However, I do like Mr Perfect's, The million-dollar man's and Bret Hart's T-shirts.
-
1999-2001 logo is clearly the best, since the first one is too bland and the alliance logo is a little over-the-top.
-
This clearly has the potential to be a good match and I'm glad WWE finally got round to doing it. I actually think Foley is the better worker of the two(even though both men aren't in their prime), but Flair will probably be put over in "Flair country".
-
No, Vince thinks this horse shit "new breed unleashed" of his is gonna be a fucking global phenomenon. Exactly. Vince is actually stupid enough to think he can make ECW a global success in it's current watered-down version. Even in it's heyday, ECW had no chance in hell of ever going global.
-
Sometimes, not always. Velocity was better(not by much!)
-
Agreed. Goldust is one of the few wrestlers that made Heat watchable.
-
The Pillman DVD looks promising. The managers DVD also sounds good, even though the extras may not be good. P.S. It's not just the Cena DVD that will suck, the divas DVD will also be crap(as they always are, IMO).
-
Kayfabe is very important during the show, but people within the wrestling industry need to be willing to let go of it when their not performing, and to be able to critique the product(just like an actor does in interviews) openly and honestly. That way, fans can respect that wrestling is a craft that needs to be honed and improved constantly, just like any other form of entertainment.

OAO Raw Thread- 12 June 2006
Wrestlefreak replied to Prime Time Andrew Doyle's topic in The WWE Folder
Last night's Raw was crap. DX reuniting was so damn anti-climatic, and overlooking RVD's title win was just plain stupid. Cena/Edge was pointless, and the rest of the show didn't even have one good match. -
I for one LOVED the hot crowd. The PPV itself was good, although the way they put RVD over was messed up. I still think the ECW revival will be crap, but as I said, a good PPV anyway.
-
Right to Censor was a great faction. The concept of a group on a moral crusade to change WWE was unique.
-
Cole's an idiot, plain and simple.

Umaga beat Flair cleanly at Backlash.
