Cambodian woman found after missing for 18 years
milliondollarchamp posted a topic in Current Events
PHNOM PENH, Jan 19 (Reuters Life!) - A Cambodian woman who went missing in the jungle for 18 years before being found last week is struggling to adapt to life as a human and wants to return to the forest, police said on Friday. "She prefers to crawl rather than walk like a human," said Mao Sun, a district police chief in the jungle-clad northeastern province of Rattanakiri where the girl's family live. "Unfortunately, she keeps crying and wants to go back to the jungle," he said. "She is not used to living with humans. We had to clothe her. When she is thirsty or hungry she points at her mouth," he told Reuters by phone. The girl, called Ro Cham H'pnhieng, went missing as an eight-year-old along with her cousin when they were sent to tend cows near the border with Vietnam. Villagers believed they had been eaten by wild animals until a girl was caught last week by a logging team as she was trying to steal some food they had left under a tree. With blackened skin and hair stretching down to her legs, she was unrecognizable apart from a scar across her back that allowed her father to pick her out. After 18 years in the wilderness, police said she was able to say only three words: father, mother and stomach ache. Villagers from the Phnong ethnic hilltribe minority believe the girl is still possessed by evil spirits of the forest. They have brought in Buddhist monks to bless her and set up a round-the-clock watch on the family hut. In December 2004, four families in the same province, which was crisscrossed by the paths of the Ho Chi Minh trail during the Vietnam War, emerged from 25 years in the jungle after fleeing the 1979 Vietnamese invasion that ousted the Khmer Rouge -
Dave Meltzer reports that WWE is internally discussing making a major change to one of the WrestleMania 23 main-events. While details are unclear, the change reportedly has to do with John Cena’s WWE Championship defense. The most recent plan reportedly called for Cena to defend his belt in a triple threat match with Randy Orton and Edge, but if the change goes through, it will be a “significant” stray from that idea, the Observer reports. It could also change other matches on the card.

A 28-year-old suburban Sacramento woman died of apparent “water intoxication” after participating in a contest — “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” — sponsored by local radio station 107.9 KDND. The rules were simple: Participants simply competed to see how much water they could drink without going to the bathroom. The winner would receive a shiny new Wii video game console, the highly coveted, $250 must-have from Nintendo. She left behind a husband, two sons and a daughter. From The Associated Press: Jennifer Strange’s mother found her daughter’s body at her home Friday in the Sacramento suburb of Rancho Cordova, California, after Strange called her supervisor at her job to say she was heading home in terrible pain. “She said to one of our supervisors that she was on her way home and her head was hurting her real bad,” said Laura Rios, one of Strange’s coworkers at Radiological Associates of Sacramento. “She was crying and that was the last that anyone had heard from her.” Ms. Strange had taken part in the contest earlier in the day. On Saturday, Assistant Sacramento County Coroner Ed Smith said the initial investigation had found evidence “consistent with a water intoxication death.” Water intoxication — also known as hyponatremia — is more commonly seen among athletes, usually extreme athletes, although it can happen to anyone who fails to recognize that they are consuming too much water for their body to regulate, causing a critical loss of sodium. (Rice University provides a good overview of the importance of regulating sodium levels in sports.) Generally speaking, the liquid part of blood — called blood plasma — starts rising and diluting the salt content, even as the body is leaching salt by sweating. And as MedlinePlus at the National Institutes of Health puts it: “Sodium is the main cation (positive ion) that circulates in the body fluids outside the cells. It is a critical component in blood pressure maintenance. Sodium is also essential for the proper workings of nerves and muscles.” Two years ago, 21-year-old Matthew Carrington died of water intoxication during a hazing incident at Chico State Univeristy. He had been forced to drink from a five-gallon jug of water that was repeatedly refilled. From NPR’s coverage of the trial that followed: Carrington collapsed and started a seizure. Fraternity members didn’t initially call an ambulance. By the time they did, it was too late. Carrington was taken to Enloe Medical Center, where his heart stopped. At about 5 a.m. he was pronounced dead from water intoxication, which caused the swelling of his brain and lungs. Ms. Strange was apparently trying to secure the Wii game console for her children. “I was talking to her and she was a nice lady,” James Ybarra, a fellow contestant, told the A.P. “She was telling me about her family and her three kids and how she was doing it for kids.” (The Sacramento Bee has a bit more from Mr. Ybarra today.) John Geary, the vice president and marketing manager of Entercom Sacramento, which owns the radio station, told The A.P., “We are awaiting information that will help explain how this tragic event occurred.”

I think Lex Luger should bodyslam Khali i mean he was the first to slam Yoko. -
Steve Corino can no longer be called "The King of Old School" because the WWE sent him a letter saying they now have it trademarked.
-
I remember reading about him runing into a burning house and saving a few people and burning himself in the process he was a great man and i am sure he is with his friend Chris Candido in heaven.

You don't tear your quad lifting a guy up and dropping him back down in a guarded position if you haven't been chemically altering your body for quite a while. What Triple H was doing wasn't high impact work. It was a fully cooperating effort on a basic physical movement he's been doing without issue for many years now. I won't say it's steroid assisted, but it isn't without sketchiness. I'll admit that I'll miss him. The arguments about Triple H holding down talent in the back haven't held any water since he put Batista over like Jesus two summers ago and he's been a pretty reliable and watchable personality for the past year. I think Wrestlemania will be hurting without him.

http://sports.ign.com/articles/748/748635p1.html Pretty good interview right there IMO, when WWE lost Angle, they basically gained another in ring phenom in CM Punk. Actually, Angle had already really wrestled everyone and had great matches with everyone, so now I think WWE should sometime next year start like a "Punk career tour" where they put him in great feuds and let him have 3 1/2+ star match after 3 1/2+ star match all year long. Just think of the list of matches Chris Benoit Finlay Regal Edge Orton HHH HBK (I wanna see it) Flair (Punk has an old school feel w/ new flavor to me) RVD Sabu Benjamin Nirto Jeff Hardy Matt Hardy Sandman Chavo Guerrero Rey Mysterio The list goes on and on, not to mention all the triple threat, fatal fourway, and tag match combinations of all those guys you could have with Punk. A match of any combination of one to three of the guys above and CM Punk could be 3 1/2 stars and up if given at least 15 minutes. Also, they'd be fresh matches.

I wonder how much of the locker room has really changed within so many years regarding the boy/girl thing. Before Trish's announcement, there were rumors about her being a lesbian because she never dated a fellow WWE locker room dude.

Eh, I get the same uges when I watch WWE programming these days. Maybe vince will take it as a sign people will kill themselves instead of watching batista as champ.

Electrolite imbalance in the kidneys? Isn't that what knocked Lashley and The "Great" Khali off whichever PPV that was a while back? (featuring the very first and hopefully very last Punjabi Prison match) Seems like an odd thing to happen to so many superstars
