The game's been over for a good while, but I just got home, so I'll post about it now. It's feels weird to say this, but I'm actually concerned about Sidney Ponson. He left the game after three innings while pitching a gem. He was about to go 4-0, too. Come back soon, Sidney!

I really hate mayonaisse, so yeah, mustard.
-
Ok, I believe it is now officially......LIMA TIME~! I just wanted to say that, just once.
-
Ok, if the Mets trade for Barry Zito like ESPN seems to think they will, I will be forced to become a Mets fan, or at least be happy when they win and it's not against the Cardinals.
-
Well, a 7-0 lead turns into a 7-6 lead, but it's a win nontheless. Mulder finally gets win number 100. I think the bullpen must secretly hate him or something, as it seems they do everything possible to blow the lead when he starts.

D-Train vs. Mark Mulder. This should be a fun game to watch. Dontrelle is probably my favorite pitcher after Chris Carpenter and Barry Zito.

Anybody know what Lebron said to Arenas during those free throws near the end of the game? I'm curious.

Goddamn, I love me some Albert Pujols. 1st pitch=3 run opposite field homer. I mean, it's the Marlins, but it had been a 0-0 pitcher's duel up to that point. Now it's 5-0. The Cards needed this series after dropping 4 straight.
-
How close did the Cards make it? I noticed that Lidge gave up a run in the top of the ninth. Well, at one point, a base hit would have tied it in the 9th. Problem was, it was up to Juan Encarnacion, Scott Spiezio, and Aaron Miles. So yeah, that didn't happen. BTW, it was funny listening to Dan Mclaughlin almost orgasm after Albert hit that home run. "OH YES!"
-
Blah, Astros beat the Cards 5-4. Wasn't really expecting anything with Marquis against Oswalt, but they made a game out of it. Oh well, at least Albert got another home run. He came pretty damn close to winning the game, too.
-
Didn't he play some linebacker last season, as well as defensive end? That might have confused them.
-
You know, for whatever reason, I liked Kobe a lot better when he had that mini fro. I'm not sure why. This is my contribution to the thread.
-
ESPN with a good stat: Albert currently has more home runs than the Royals, and just as many as the Padres. That's awesome.
-
I see what you (perhaps unintentionally) did there.
-
Hmm...could it be possible that DeAngelo Williams drops to the Colts? I doubt it, but that would be cool.
-
So are they gonna tell me what the Rams got for the pick?
-
Yeah, that Deuce McCallister is good, but he's no REGGIE BUSH OMG! THEY DID THE RIGHT THING! /Berman
-
Well, the Cardinals lost by 5 runs to the friggin' Nationals..... But hey, Albert hit another home run. Also, he is now 1 RBI short of tying the club record for April.
-
Also, I think I just heard Sean Salisbury's head explode.
-
Wow, I am 10 times more interested in the draft now.
-
Hey Izzy, remember when you would make it interesting but still get the job done? Yeah, I think you're forgetting the "get the job done" part. Somebody extend the inning to Pujols, please. Edit: So yeah, Pujols is pretty good.

So I didn't see this mentioned... http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2422255 PHOENIX -- Steve Nash will win his second straight NBA Most Valuable Player award, according to reports on several area newspapers. The announcement may not come for two weeks, according to the Arizona Republic. But the paper, and others, report that the voting shows Nash edging LeBron James, Dirk Nowitzki, Chauncey Billups and Kobe Bryant for the MVP. This season, Nash had career-highs in points (18.8 points per game), rebounds (4.2 per game), field goal percentage (51.2 percent) and free throw percentage (92.1 percent -- best in the league). He was also the league-leader in assists (10.5) and shot nearly 50 percent from three-point range. The Suns are currently playing the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. A year ago, Nash edged Shaquille O'Neal in what was the fourth-closest balloting in history. -ESPN.com

So hey, Juan Encarnacion is a single away from hitting for the cycle, to go along with another great catch in the outfield. Good way to break out of a slump, I would say.

Tonight's game so far reaffirms what I already knew; Albert Pujols is really good, Carpenter is really good, Mike Shannon is still terrible. There was a commercial where Shannon said he had been announcing for 30 years and hopefully 30 more, and I shuddered a little bit. Edit: And as I say that, Carpenter gives up 2 runs. I should maybe wait till after at least the 5th inning to make judgments about the pitcher.

You know, the commentary for the Slam Dunk contest in NBA Live is probably the best I've heard for a sports game. It sounds really natural, aside from a few very minor hiccups, and Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson are actually pretty funny. I wish other games could get commentary like this. "That rim's funky!" Wish I could say the same for MVP Baseball. Duane Kiper is alright, but Mike Krukow can just go to hell. "THAT breaking ball was UUUUUGGLYYYY" GOD that is annoying.
