    OAO Final Resolution 2007 Thread

The way Angle is over with the crowd? He's clearly babyface. This is a situation similar to Hogan/Michaels. After Angle won tonight, he was cheered, there was chants, he got over. I don't see this being heel-vs-heel at all.

    OAO Final Resolution 2007 Thread

Possibly a 3-way... I kind of hope not though, I'd rather have Joe/Angle for the title in a few months. Give Joe another storyline for a few months. All in all, an acceptable PPV. While I don't like Abyss losing the belt so early, it was done reasonably well and THANKFULLY he didn't turn on Mitchell and ruin that whole manager dynamic that they have RIGHT down pat. I expect Christian will drop the belt to Angle, who will carry it for several months and then, god willing, drop it to Joe cleanly. Having the Dudleys lose in a generic DQ finish was aggravating. I didn't expect the match to be very good anyway, but I was hoping the Dudleys didn't squash LAX either, and they didn't. But it looks like the feud will continue. TNA really needs some more tag teams now--a year ago they had the best tag division in the world, and now they only have LAX. the VKM promo, if it IS the last one to do with WWE, was entertaining and really did speak what the fans are thinking... but wtf is this Christie Hemmie shit? TNA is NOT ready for a women's division, they have too much talent on air as is, now they're gonna jumble it up more by having women's wrestling? Traci and Gail Kim are the only ones that can work. This could be really bad. Joe/Angle III I liked, although I still wish it had've come off as a draw. But having Angle hold on to the absolute last second and have it finish so close, both guys still come off looking great, and both still massively over. Fine with me. Oh, and the X-title match had a pretty surprise winner, but the match itself was fun, and Jerry Lynn hasn't missed a step. Great seeing him back in a TNA ring.

    A serious question about TNA

Hmm, where to begin... 1. Don't job LAX to the Dudleys. I know it hasn't happened already, but I have a baaaad feeling about tonight. The Dudleys and VKM need to go away, now. The tag team scene that was so awesome in TNA just 6 months ago is now in a shambles, since apparently Russo's theory is that, if a team loses against LAX, they need to break up or never be seen again. Naturals gone, AJ/Daniels gone, AMW gone. VKM is crap and the Dudleys don't need to be there. 2. Give the X-Division (other than Daniels/Sabin) something to do for Christ's sake. Having them be buried as a vehicle for Kevin Nash's tired old jokes is not helping. While they should NOT be doing a bunch of 6-man spotfests that last 3 minutes every night on IMPACT, I also believe they should still be in the ring doing what they do best. Low Ki ESPECIALLY. Him going LAX can't come soon enough... I still think X-Tag Titles would help this problem a fair bit. Aries and Shelley need to be in the title picture soon, as does Low Ki and possibly Homicide. 3. Get Bobby Roode off my screen. He's a failure and this angle is going nowhere. As an enforcer for Team Canada he was entertaining--by himself he's a joke. 4. Stop booking bullshit WWE-esque "he's got a secret past" storylines. Abyss finally has the belt, he's a monster, he's massively over with the fans, Abyss and Mitchell are arguably the greatest heel+manager combo in wrestling in the past 5-6 years, there's no reason for him to have a storyline of ANY kind except "he has the belt, and he's killing everyone." This BS with hinting at turning on Mitchell is a grave, grave mistake. It's being done well by all the WRESTLERS and Mitchell, but the story itself can only lead to an Abyss with no direction. 5. Sting I feel is being used just fine right now. I don't mind him in the main event picture, as long as he's putting over Abyss or Christian in the long run. Hopefully it'll stay that way. 6. Expand to 2 hours. Obviously this is up to Spike TV, but I just can't stress enough how much great talent TNA has that is being wasted because we only see them every two shows. 7. Have IMPACT in the IMPACT zone for now, I really don't see a problem with having a crowd that's ALWAYS into the show, as opposed to a RAW crowd, which oftentimes is dead silent. The IMPACT zone crowd knows TNA, knows what they look, and are largely dedicated. HOWEVER, each PPV should be held somewhere else in the country to help spread TNA's appeal. And the house shows they're doing now elsewhere should continue too. 8. Have SOMEONE tell Mike Tenay to stop being JR. I think Jim Ross is awful, I've never liked him, he's nothing but a hype machine, and now it's as if someone has whispered in Tenay's ear to stop calling matches and start hyping shit and screaming like someone's been killed every time a finishing move hits. Go back to being The Professor for the love of god, and start researching move names again. In WCW you were second only to Joey Styles for being able to call move-for-move. 9. Fire Don West. For god's sake, he has passion and he has commitment to TNA, and his excitement is nice and all, but he's just a disaster behind the mic. Don Callus needs to replace him immediately. He's great at being a heel announcer while STILL talking up a babyface's skill, which is what TNA needs now. 10. Russo appears to be high on Joe, which is a good thing. He needs to embark on a quest for the title after this match with Angle... If it has to be difficult, maybe losing to Abyss a couple of times, or feuding with Angle who gets the belt first, or whatever, that's just fine. But he is the guy who needs to carry the belt, like he did in ROH, for a very long time in the near future. He's the guy to build the company around. 11. Enough friggin gimmick matches. Ultimate X fine, 6 Sides of Steel, fine, even King of the Mountain now, fine. But nothing else. 12. Taking Jarrett out of the title picture was a very very good thing. But I can't help but expect him to come back in a few months, apparently as a babyface (he mentioned wanting to do that, hence the teary-eyed promos when he left), and just take the title and start all this crap all over again. I am FINE with Jarrett has a heel, he's competent in the ring, he cuts a good promo, but he needs to NOT have the belt. Put him in some other long-term feud that we'd find interesting. In 2007 the title should be about Joe, Angle, Abyss and Christian, and possibly Daniels. 13. Put Daniels in the main event. He can do it. I swear to god he can. In a Shawn Michaels-esque fashion of the-little-guy-that-perseveres. The man can cut a great promo and he's perfection in the ring. I'm loving the feud he's in right now, but after that, what next? He can be the next AJ Styles in the main event division. 14. Sign the Briscoes and the Kings of Wrestling for the tag division. Book it. 15. Do not, under any circumstances, start a women's division with what you have now. Gail Kim was starting to impress, right around the time WWE let her go... Traci is acceptable in the ring. Hemmie, Jackie and So-Cal Val are not wrestlers, and shouldn't be in the ring. If you want to start a women's division, go hire Allison Danger, Lacey, Mischif, Daizee Haze, and Cheerleader Melissa. Otherwise, forget it. TNA wants to be different than WWE? Then put real women's wrestlers in the ring, not bimbos flopping around embarassing themselves. 16. At some point in 2007, push Homicide to an X-Division title feud. Doesn't necessarily have to win it, but the fans really deserve to see Homicide in singles competition in the X-Division at some point. 17. Never have Nash get in the ring again, ever. In a managerial role, he's even questionable, since it seems like his entire goal is to put himself over. Whew, pretty negative post... So I'm also going to throw in that right now, TNA is about 60/40 entertaining/awful, which is a hell of a lot better than the 0/100 ratio WWE has. Joe/Angle, Daniels/Sabin/Lynn, LAX, AMW (even their breakup has possibilities,) Abyss/Sting/Christian and EVENTUALLY the Aries/Shelley feud, are all highly entertaining. And most importantly, they're the angles that are getting the limelight. At least when TNA books pure crap, they tend to book it in the lower card. And fwiw, I'm a suppporter of the "they did this too early" Angle/Joe feud. Not everything in wrestling has to be a slow-simmering feud like Batista/HHH. This feud did not need a storyline, this feud did not need history. Angle = "Best wrestler in the world" (arguable) and comes to TNA, wants "the Best Wrestler in TNA" (Joe, clearly) and calls him out. They have a series of matches that result in (god I hope) both guys coming out looking like a million bucks. Angle's established in TNA as a contender, Joe's established as the current "big thing" in wrestling who can stand toe to toe with a future hall-of-famer. I see nothing wrong with this. I should also point out that TNA's production values are FANTASTIC now. The "adrenaline rush" videos at the end of Impact are great, the hype videos for the PPV are awesome, the video promos were well edited and entertaining. TNA *knows* how to hype a PPV. They make me want to order a PPV. WWE even back when I *did* enjoy it, didn't make me want to buy PPVs. whew.

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

Like the ability to go lay out on the grass on a sunny day in the shade of your favourite tree without getting frostbite? I'm with Wyld Cannon. Fall is the season for me. WTF, wear the right clothing and yes, you can definitely lay on the lawn on a sunny day under the shade of your favourite tree...

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

So apparently London England got a tornado. Aw shucks. We got this in OUR London: The snow on top of the truck gives you an idea of the depth. Just about up to my waist. And of course me being the brilliant Canadian I am, I spent half an hour last night digging my whole 8-car driveway out, then promptly parked my car at the VERY end of the driveway at the back... So I had to dig it ALL out again. The road hasn't been touched yet, so shoveling all the way to the road is rather pointless, the plow's just gonna throw it all on again. What's funny is, you look at the weather channel map, there's LITERALLY a circle of snow around London and nowhere else, nothing over Toronto, nothing over Windsor, nothing.

WTF do you expect, he's House, M.D. Don't you ever watch that show? He's a prick!

cute girl in a toque, hair tucked into a nice comfy turtleneck, cheeks a little red... they just look fuckin horny. They look like they're all in super duper high spirits and just wanna rip their clothing off. It's fantastic. Case closed.

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

Well fwiw, it's about 90% gone now. This is why I HATE London, retarded half-winters. It's like +4 C right now, and most of it has melted. We had a real winter there for a few days, and now it's back to slushy-sticky-humid-rainy crap.
  9. tigeraid

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

Totally agreed... there's nothing hotter than a smokin' chick in tight jeans wearing a winter jacket and a toque. Tremendous.
  10. tigeraid

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

That is true, and London's snow crew is also a joke--but that's still no excuse for accidents occurring. If the roads are so bad that the car can't make it DOWN the road, then you shouldn't be driving.
  11. tigeraid

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

Snow doesn't make the roads dangerous. It makes the idiotic drivers dangerous. Hating snow is stupid, it can't possibly hurt anyone. Can it be a nuisance? Maybe but no more then extreme heat during the summer. At least you can move snow, heat just stays in place. Correct. Lack of driver training and common sense is dangerous. Not snow.
  12. tigeraid

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

Because I detest the summer heat, can't stand humidity and loathe any weather over about 25 degrees C (77 F.) I would take -40 C any day over a +30 C summer day. Unfortunately, moving to London has made that worse for me. We have crappy winters AND crappy summers. The winters in London are typically no colder than -10 C or so, with windy, slushy, sticky, rainy, shitty weather all the time, because of the humidity. Up in North Bay where I grew up (Northern Ontario) winters were anywhere from -25 C to -40 C, but there was very little wind, the snow was hard packed, the air was crisp and clean and dry, and the humidity was low. Then to make matters worse, in the summer London might as well be Louisiana, with temperatures approaching 100 F at times, and always 70%+ humidity. Walk outside and I have a pool in my shorts. It's disgusting. I miss North Bay, is I guess what I'm saying
  13. tigeraid

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

Yes, everything is closed. Plow finally came by around 11, so I was able to finish the driveway. The sick part of this is that it's going back up to +8 C on Monday or Tuesday, so all this snow is gonna melt and probably flood the whole damn town.
  14. tigeraid

    Ah GOD TEH SNOW

I'm not bitching. I was comparing it to London England's "problem." I come from Northern Ontario and this is, in fact, "nothing." I like snow as well. I even like shoveling it. I just don't like shoveling this much.

    Angle vs. Joe

Well, like I said... I'm cautiously optimistic on this one, because it wasn't there only match. It is possible to have a feud put both wrestlers over, you know...
  16. tigeraid

    Angle vs. Joe

I really think, or rather, pray, that they're approaching this in a Punk/Joe fashion, to have three progressively better and better matches (yes, I know Joe/Punk II was better than the rubber match, but whatever) that will help get both of them over rather equally. As feuds in ROH have proven, and feuds in the X-Division (see: AJ/Daniels) have proven, you can have one competitor go over and still have the other look strong. If this was the only match between them, then that wouldn't have worked, because it wasn't long enough, and Joe really took the Ankle look "too easily" for such a huge huge match. But as part 1 of 3? The potential is limitless.

    Iron Maiden

He could've been referring to Metallica's Black album...
  18. This could be verrrrrrrrrrry big: The marketing and talent exchange possibilities are endless. Shibita Vs Danielson?
  19. tigeraid

    Angle vs. Joe

That would be acceptable too, I guess. I guess I'd just really like the finish to be somewhat awkward or indecisive, so it leaves us with a question of who really beat who.

    TNA entrance music

TNA's music is hit or miss for me. Joe's great IMO, especially for ROH fans, because it's a remix of the Godzilla theme, which is the intro to his ROH music. I still think a modern hip-hop theme like his ROH tunes would be great, but obviously that'd require money. Daniels' is a remix of his ROH theme as well, and is quite good (the original from TNA early 2005ish was better though.) AJ's is the best one, clearly. Jarrett's is great. It suits his shit-talking heel persona just fine. You get the feeling Dale Oliver put ALL his effort into Jarrett's theme and just sorta threw the others together. Abyss' is also appropriate, fits him perfectly. Sabin's original music was great. This current one is awful and repetitive. I also love Low Ki's. Really suits him. And I love Angle's new theme. I'm so happy they decided not to go with a olympic theme.

    OAO Primetime Debut Thread

I can only see Abyss vs Angle ending in a DQ, either with Joe or Christian. If Angle goes over Abyss, the #1 Contender looks weak. If Abyss goes over, Angle's push loses steam. In a place like ROH, they could have a 30+ minute classic where they both look awesome and come away both looking good regardless of who wins, but I don't see that happening on Impact. Having said that, I'm glad that they saved AJ vs Angle for a better time, and settings up Sabin as a bitter heel was fantastic IMO.
  22. tigeraid

    Angle vs. Joe

I agree in general, I hope this match, while good, is not the mind-blowing 5-star match of the century--yet. I hope this match ends in a DQ, a no contest, or at least a somewhat undeceive finish, to set up for a more dramatic match. I think this is just too soon and is really blowing the wad early for TNA. Had it been at BFG, maybe--but not now.

    Iron Maiden

Matthew Barlow, and possibly Rob Halford. That is all.

    Iron Maiden

The line-up is Aja “Bruce Chickinson” Kim on vocals, Linda “Nikki McBURRain” McDonald on drums, Elizabeth “Adrienne Smith” Schall and Sara “MiniMurray” Marsh on guitars, and Wanda "Steph Harris" Ortiz on bass. A couple of em are even hot. The lead singer definitely does not have the vocal range Dickinsen does though.
