Zakk Wylde rules. I wouldn't put him on the level of a Steve Vai either, but much like what was said, he's a product of the 80s and really good at the particular style of music he performs. I will however point out that his vocals have improved immeasurably from album to album. And his pitch harmonics sound cool, and not enough people are doing them these days. And did I just hear someone say Evanescence is better than Nightwish? Jesus fucking christ.

    Bound For GLory

Actually I felt the lighting was reasonable enough to see way into the crowd on numerous occasions. Plus they showed the size of the arena and crowd a few times while they talked about the crowd between matches. I agree that anyone who thought that PPV sucked is an idiot. I found the 4-way tag match boring and predictable, a filler match if you will. Eric/Zybysko was dumb, but it served a purpose and was kept very short, and got Eric even further over. I just hope they actually GO somewhere with Eric now. The X-Tournament match was funny and entertaining, and a great way to open the show. It's also looking like a Shelley/Aries feud is in the future, which can only be good--it was awesome in ROH. Aries' new gimmick is amusing as well, without hurting his in-ring work. The tag title match, while awesome and full of holy shit moments, didn't have the psychology or pacing that the Ultimate X match did. I still enjoyed the hell out of it though. AND THE GHETTO FORK MADE IT'S DEBUT IN TNA! They also look to be building toward AMW/LAX in the future, with AMW the faces. That was a very babyface promo they cut, and that's okay with me. When it comes to bloody feuds AMW is among the best, and it could actually work. Wonder what they'll do with AJ and Daniels now though... Monster's Ball was also a filler match. A couple of halfdecent spots but it still just felt like a match thrown together in a WWE Random Generator fashion. The Back Senton onto the thumbtacks was fucking SICK though. Joe went over as expected. Now put him in the main event, for the love of god. And as I said above, the main event was awful and Sting was way off and sloppy. But man, no-selling the Guitar was so bad it was GOOD, y'know? It made up for 15 minutes or so of shitty match by giving me a genuine laugh out loud moment. EVERYONE has sold the Guitar, even Joe, and Sting doesn't even BEGIN to sell it. Just hilarious. Despite what HTQ insists, I really don't think this will end in a Dusty fashion. Sting will lose the belt in a couple months, hopefully to Joe and possibly to Angle. And Don West DID look at it as a passing of the torch, so maybe Jarrett's gone for a while. God I hope he is.

    Bound For GLory

I thought it was a crappy match, but man, it was AWESOME to see someone FINALLY no-sell the guitar shot. I laughed the fuck out loud. Even Joe sold it. That's just friggin hilarious. Solid PPV altogether anyway. The Cage match was great--not as good as Ultimate X, not the kind of psychology Ultimate X had, but solid. X-Title match was great too. Thumbs up.

Sabin vs. Low Ki was fantastic, now that they've gotten rid of the Jackass BS. Having Sabin go over was pretty shocking IMO... I think maybe the feud'll continue on. Time for the Match of the Night, 6 Sides of Steel.

wtf, where did he do that? Death to the unbeliever! BTW, I can't seem to get VLC to capture any screens for me--can I request someone screencap the image of a bloddy joe standing behind Kurt Angle? I would build several churches in your honour if you do so.

    OAO 10/19 Impact Thread

Yes, you are. LAX is pretty much the best angle in wrestling right now. You have a solid tag team, one that was involved in what's likely the MotY so far at the last PPV. Homicide, the lucha/x-division guy, Hernandez the muscle (who is being utilized and protected EXTREMELY well in the ring) and you have, finally, Konnan in a role where he doesn't suck, where his promos matter, and are fresh and interesting for the first time since like 1996. On top of that, you have one of the most creative entrances in wrestling complete with a live spanish announcer (and I don't even like rap.) The angle is relevant to today's political climate (ask anyone living in the southern states about the militant Mexican gangs) and has proponents on both sides of the argument, making it poignant and important. This is something neither the nWo or DX could ever hope to accomplish, and only the Nation of Domination got a glimmer at (and NoD's version of this angle was tired from the start.) As for the show, I have lots of problems with Impact, but above all else what they have to do with this 1 hr show is hype the PPV. The match quality on Impact is usually not that great, with a few exceptions. But the hype for PPVs? OUTSTANDING. The Joe/Angle segment, the video package at the end, all fantastic at making me WANT to order BFG... while at the same time hinting at future feuds! (AMW vs LAX, Joe vs Angle.) The only thing I don't particularly like taking up time is the endless Sting videos. But I dunno, this angle HAS to be going somewhere... Couldn't agree with you more. And I think this is honestly Russo's and Carter's doing. Jarrett has damn near booked the main event into the ground with Sting/Jarrett, and from what the interviews have said, Russo is very high on putting Joe in the spotlight (finally.) So I think this is his influence, trying to hype the future storylines that'll really carry the company throughout the next year. Again, the booking for BFG really seemed to happen almost 2 months early, since hyping Sting/Jarrett. That immediately put them at odds as to wtf they were going to do with Joe. This is honestly the best they could've come up with, or at least what Jarrett wanted. I would've liked to see Joe win the match at the last PPV to earn a shot at the title, making it a 3-way at BFG. But they dropped the ball on that one. As far as I'm concerned, TNA starts after BFG now.

    OAO 10/19 Impact Thread

Absolutely. TNA's video production continues to knock it out of the park. The problem is that Impact has a lot of BS, but overall, in the end, they hype the SHIT out of PPVs and do it wlel. And I dunno wtf you were watching, but Joe/Angle felt TOTALLY special to me. It was a huge mark-out moment, especially Joe popping back up with the blood coming down his face. Just tremendous. Total markout. I want a screencap of it.

Leroy Green, from Barry Gordy's The Last Dragon. Jimmy Yang used the theme song from the movie as his entrance theme, and had Leroy Green follow him around during his feud with the Embassy.

Glad to hear Joe's injury wasn't legit. I thought for sure it was, from what little I saw. Last time I make the mistake of staying in my seat when the crowd files out through the door. Aries/Danielson was quite good, but not on par with their previous matches. I heartily agree that Hero/Sydal stole the show.

That was indeed insane. I made the mistake of staying near my seat while they brawled outside, expecting not to see anything anyways--oh well, I guess I'll see the SSP on the DVD. The 6-man was rather odd... it came very late in the show, and wtf, Primeau wins? Richards/Castagnoli was fantastic. Both Aries and Danielson had to wrestle in someone else's trunks again tonight, having lost baggage at the airport I assume. Aries looked alright but Danielson wrestled in blue shorts with no knee pads and goofy looking black boots. It looked pretty silly. On the other hand, he got right in my face while standing on Aries after throwing him into the barracade. Which was pretty cool.

I would've been okay with any of the three, quite frankly. If TNA continues to grow in popularity ROH's is gonna have to rely on these three, Dragon, and the Briscoes for drawing.

I don't think so, and I hope not, because there's no one else ready for it. I thought for sure they'd give it to KENTA for a short run maybe til Final Battle, and drop it to Homicide, or possibly to a healed Danielson a few months later, making Danielson "the first two time champ." By AmDrag decided to work through the pain. Which is insanity. But I'm not going to stop enjoying it

    WON TNA News + Notes

Totally agreed on the TNA side, totally disagreed on the ROH side. Samoa Joe has become the Ric Flair of ROH--not so much in the veteran way, but in the "god-like figure everyone comes to see." I know for a fact both my buddies who come to the ROH shows come primarily to see him. When Joe comes out, the crowd is deafening in a Hogan-like way. He's uber-babyface now. I think the ONLY way his ROH persona is being hampered a little is that, for the most part, ROH fans believe he'll never see the title again. Partially because they don't think he's right as "the first 2-time champ" and partially because of his TNA bookings. The atmosphere of an ROH show when Joe is center-stage is awe-inspiring.

Dio does, however, have a fantastic vocal range. Not on par with Dickensen, Halford or Barlow. But it's up there.
  23. In all this Angle mess, the possible Match of the Year was ignored. Ultimate X for the tag titles was fucking phenominal. It should've been main event, not Joe/Jarrett. Styles Clash through the table, Daniels' huge leap from the truss to the middle of the X. Just tremendous. And fantastic psychology, with Homicide selling the shoulder injury and not being able to climb the ropes that well. Just an awesome match all around.

lol.... I dunno if I could choose one. Tossup between Number of the Beast and Dance of Death, for me.
