Bowser was a terrible choice for battle mode.
-
Yes, but Toad just wasn't as cool as Koopa Troopa.
-
Somebody else put a ban on using Koopa Troopa in Mario Kart as well? I thought we were the only ones who fought over that. Anyway, my votes: 1. Mario Kart (SNES) 2. SMB 3 3. Super Mario World

I thought I heard that he had but with all the wild stories in the media these days who really knows?
-
They showed that on the local news this morning. Didn't he miss several other kicks before making that one?
-
It's probably a MLB decision now since they changed their management structure and essentially eliminated the AL and NL offices... Either way, I wish the folks here would quit bitching about it. If Roy Oswalt brings his prime stuff tonight, the roof being open won't matter one bit.

LOL at Eagle fans... ...until Cortez kicks a 55-yard FG to beat the Cowboys as time runs out in a few weeks...
-
What would happen if the Astros refused to open it? Would they be fined? Would MLB hold up the game or threaten them with forfeit? What is stopping the Astros from telling them to fuck off and leaving it closed?
-
Houston's OL was better against the Colts. There were five sacks, but two of them were all on Carr (held the ball too long) and the others came in the fourth quarter when the Colts were teeing off on Carr because they were up 18 points and the Texans were in obvious passing situations.

MLB has taken over the decision-making over whether the roof at the Juicebox will be open or closed for the next three games. The Astros are crying loudly about it, too saying that the dome is part of their home-field advantage. While they have a point that MLB might be out of line in suddenly making these decisions (why didn't they do it in the other two series?), I don't see why it matters. I don't think the White Sox will be cowering in fear of the loud Houston fans. The weather is freaking gorgeous here today--why wouldn't they open the roof? I guess this will be the excuse if the Astros lose tonight.

But so what if it did? There is no way to know if or how things would have turned out differently if they had called it a foul ball. At full speed, surely you can see how it would be difficult to make the 100% correct call. We all have the gift of multiple replays. Besides, the Astros have played enough sloppy baseball in this Series that a single non-call on that foul ball did not put them down 0-2.

Cowboys cut Jose Cortez. About fucking time.

My company has stated tomorrow is "Go Astros Day" and we are free to wear Astros' t-shirts, hats, etc. So I can't decide if I want to wear my Cubs hat and Ryne Sandberg jersey or if I want to go out tonight and buy a cheapo White Sox hat since I just cannot root for the Astros. The Astros certainly earned it though. Roy Oswalt pitched two hellaciously good games and they really did thump the Cardinals throughout the series. I just hate it that they actually made it since now I'll have to continue to deal with all the Astro "fans" who hadn't even watched a game all year until this week.

I've heard it only applies when they're conducting "league business." I've heard nothing about it applying to their time away from the team and/or team functions. So what's the complaint?
-
Yeah, I don't agree with it either. I think you want your best pitchers out there for as many innings as possible, regardless of the situation. As you say, what good does it do to hold him back for a save situation that never comes? While we're on the subject of disagreeing with Garner... I'm still confused as to why Jeff Bagwell is even on the playoff roster. Garner sent Vizcaino up to hit in the ninth of game 5 in a situation that was tailor-made for Bagwell: down a run, with Berkman due up fourth in the inning. Why not use Bagwell? He might not hit the tying home run, but he's more likely to get a hit than Vizcaino and, if nothing else, still draws walks like crazy. If you get him on, Berkman likely gets to the plate as the pennant-winning run. To me, that's your best chance to win and he didn't do it. Makes no sense.
-
But they were at home. Garner has stated in the past that when you have last licks it's ok to use the closer to keep the tie because a run in the bottom of the inning wins it. Had that game been in Atlanta, I'm guessing he would have held Lidge back in the event of the Astros getting the lead in the top half of the inning so that Lidge could close it out in the bottom half. Lidge would have been the last guy out of the pen before Clemens in that case. I doubt it. If it was game 7, probably. But given that the Astros have the luxury of being able to lose game 6, I don't see it happening. You have 10 other pitchers on the roster; surely one of them could get it done.

Tech will score on Texas, but they don't have much chance to stop UT. I don't think it will be quite 63-24, but 51-20 sounds about right.

Flozell Adams has been playing like shit for the most part this season, so I'm not all that worried that his being out will be a terrible loss for the Cowboys. Julius needs to get healthy though. The offense was really out of sync without him against NY. They'll need to be sharp to win this week because Seattle is going to score a few points. The Dallas D, despite a couple inexcusable lapses, has been ferocious these last two weeks. 8 sacks, and they've kept two good teams in check. Demarcus Ware can play and Chris Canty looks like a big steal in the 4th round.

Whoa. Easy VX, I just went through Rita. Though it wasn't that bad here at my place, it was only because we got lucky and the storm turned way north. I had family living with me for two weeks because they couldn't live in their own homes because of that storm. So believe me, I'm praying for you guys. EDIT: wrote this before VX changed his post.

Do you really think there have to be any oil rigs nearby for them to raise gas prices?
-
They didn't because it would have put the tying run on second base. Ausmus said doing so would be "asinine." This city is gripping this morning. Everyone is in shock (for good reason) and some are even fleeing the bandwagon saying the Astros are going to "Oiler" this series. It's pretty funny. I still think the Astros are going to do it though. I'm pretty sure not even they can blow this.

Oh come on kkk, she's probably a poor minority who can't afford those UNFAIR~! taxes handed down by the man...

Yeah, and what else? Johnson and Dunta Robinson were great picks and the jury's still out on Carr (not his fault, really), but it's pretty hard to fuck up a top 10 pick. Look at the rest of their drafts, particularly the second and third rounds. They've pretty gotten nothing out of any of those picks in four years of drafting. Combine that with the fact that they've wasted many of the free agent dollars they've handed out and made a bad trade for Philip Buchanon (who's already benched) and you have the recipe for a 4 win team.
-
David Carr isn't the Texans' problem. I really think they can win with him though he'll never be confused with the elite qb's. Their problem is that their roster sucks. And that can be blamed on the coaching staff and the general manager. Trading away a high pick for a package of picks would be nice I guess, but the Texans' draft history isn't great. Why would that suddenly change?

So what? It still doesn't make that passage of the Constitution an issue here. Bush can pick whomever he wants, and he did. That's the only part of the Constitution that matters here.
