I'm ok with Vizcaino hitting in the ninth...if there are less than two outs. With less than two outs, there's a pretty good chance Biggio would have made it to the plate and he would have a decent shot at a home run. But with two outs, your chances are less because not only does Vizcaino have to get on base, but Biggio has to get the big hit as well. I think there's less chance of both those things happening than Bagwell smacking a home run in his only shot. But maybe I'm wrong.

Texas UIL (high school athletics governing body) has several rules about high school games being broadcast on TV so I'm not sure they'd be allowed to do this show here.

The excuse being given for the Astros' loss this morning in the media here is Andy Pettitte took a line drive to the knee during batting practice yesterday that was swollen and bruised, thus causing him problems with his delivery last night. I knew there'd be one. Couldn't just be that the Cardinals have some pretty good hitters. Question: why did Garner send up Vizcaino to hit in the 9th last night? Their best chance of pulling the game out in that situation was a home run and they use Vizcaino?

Steve Lyons saying "Bee-gee-o" all series is going to drive me crazy. It's "Bidge-e-o." How hard is it to say the guy's name right? Shit.

Yeah, that relationship didn't last too long. But she did tell me that she appreciated my trying to dance as much as I could despite being in some pain. As if I fucking cared about THAT...

Eighth grade graduations are lame. It's like hey, congratulations--you haven't accomplished much of anything! Oh, and my senior prom sucked. I couldn't dance much at all since I'd broken my leg a few weeks before. And my date didn't put out at the end of the night. Our prom song was, I believe, End Of The Road.

By that logic, Billy Beane would never get another job, ever. -
Well, he is the common denominator between the two teams...maybe it isn't ALL the players' fault. Nebraska does suck, though.
-
Yeah, and the three they won were games started by Pettitte, Oswalt, and Clemens so it isn't as if they haven't beaten the Astros with those three guys on the mound. And, as Bruiser said, the two they lost were as much due to their coasting to the playoffs as anything else. One concern for the Cards is Al Reyes being out--that will hurt. Otherwise, the only position on the field where the Astros clearly have the advantage is third base...and that's only because Rolen is out. And Lidge is better than Isringhausen, but I'll take the whole of the Cards bullpen over Houston's.

Why would it be a crime? It'd be the same situation as last year--three teams, two spots. Somebody is going to get screwed regardless of the outcome if that happens and it'll be a "crime" to fans of whichever team it happens to. Let's end the year with three undefeated teams first though before we start the doomsday scenarios...

Tech/Texas is in Austin so that ain't gonna happen.

The NFL won't be going back to LA for the Super Bowl until there is a team playing there again. Simple as that.

Thre's no "acceptable" stadium in Dallas as of yet. Once the Cowboys' new home is finished, that will change. They've already been promised a SB.

It's not a free win, but come on dude. You're kidding yourself if you think he compares to any of the other three. He's a decent pitcher with a fairly live arm who shows occasional flashes of brilliance. The problem is, he's bad a lot more often than he's good. Would the Braves pound him just because he's Brandon Backe? No. Would they rather face him than Clemens or Pettitte again in the series? Yes. Wouldn't you?

I'm just glad Houston didn't get it. It wasn't worth all the hype and traffic it brought last year.

Apparently tropical storm Tammy is bringing a bunch of rain to the Atlanta area. The local radio guy they sent over to ATL from here was saying it was already pouring at 8:00 and that it was expected to continue throughout the afternoon. His guess was there would be no game and they'll play Friday instead.
-
It appears there might not be any baseball in Atlanta tonight. That'd be good news for the Braves, since it means they'll definitely see Brandon Backe in either game 4 or 5, instead of possibly Clemens twice.

Dierker was quoted a while back as saying he wouldn't mind managing again, but that it'd have to be "the right situation."
-
Maybe that's why he should be blamed...
-
Well, yes, you are right. The worst part about this particular dipshit though is that he was "finished" with the Astros this season as recently as about a month ago. The whole town has been that way--everybody was ignoring the Astros for the most part until these last two weeks. And now they're all wearing their "Back to Back Wild Card CHAMPIONS" t-shirts and asking how much Carlos is enjoying New York.

God, there's this obnoxious ass here at work who just screamed "GAME OVER BABY!!!!! PETTITTE AIN'T GIVIN' UP NUTHING!!!!!" after Ensberg drove in the run. Thank you, Chipper. Thank you.

Ssssh...maybe they don't know. If we play our cards right, we can convince them to make the deal by adding Tuffy Rhodes to the mix. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tuffy Rhodes? Nah, let's at least throw Macias in there so we're rid of his useless ass. And make Patterson the PTBNL. Plus, if we traded both of them, Dusty might resign in protest. I think there's an option on his contract. No idea if it's his or the team's.

That'd work if Hollandsworth were still a Cub!

Well, at least the ninth has been a little interesting.
