That's not it! Don't you know that walks just clog up the basepaths? And I know it's still way, way early, but the rest of the Central teams aren't doing themselves any favors by spotting the Cards a 3 1/2 game lead already.

Texans are going to take Travis Johnson.
-
Cowboys aren't taking Williams.

Anybody seen Jeff Bagwell? Through 16 games: .207/.310/.362, 2 HR, 9 RBI, 10 BB, 13 K Is it a slump, a side effect of Berkman being out, or is he rolling uncontrollably downhill?

Texas Legislators vote to ban gay foster parents

Uh, no we don't. But we do have a proposal for an "express lane" to the gurney that greatly reduces the red tape involved in carrying out a sentence. Thanks for correcting me The "express lane" requires multiple eyewitnesses to the crime, if memory serves. -=Mike That would be correct. Three or more eyewitness=quick death. -
I always figured it was because he only had one real good season out of five, with the death blow being when they fell apart in '99. I thought Sammy was still a loveable guy during that time but who knows? He might have been pushing buttons behind the scenes to get rid of Riggleman. In defense of them ditching Riggleman, I'll say that he deserved to be fired for two reasons: 1) Leaving Kevin Tapani on the mound against the Braves in game 2 in '98 when he was clearly gassed, thus sparking the Braves' comeback win. 2) Throwing an injured Kerry Wood out there for no real reason in game 3, thus blowing his elbow out and costing him a season and a half.

I don't see Riggleman listed on their staff anywhere, so I guess not. But fuck it. Let's get Jimmy Frey back. 1984 was a special season.

Bring back Bruce Kimm! Or Jim Essian!

Played against Tony Bua, who was a safety at Arkansas and became a 5th round pick/benchwarmer for the Dolphins last season. He killed us in football but I struck his ass out twice in baseball. Also Reggie White (not THAT Reggie White), who went to Ok St before falling off the face of the earth. He went to a couple of NFL camps, but I don't think he ever even made a practice squad.

No, the Cowboys do not need a corner and Parcells wouldn't trade for Woodson even if they did.

Texas Legislators vote to ban gay foster parents

It won't be. As soon as it's challenged in court, it'll get tossed. I just find it funny that with all the problems CPS has down here, the banning of gay foster parents is going to be the only one that gets any attention. I live here and barely knew there was a bill to overhaul CPS until this broke late last night...now it's all that's on the radio today. -
Why're you gettin' soft in your old age, kkk?

Raiders trade Phillip Buchanon to Texans for second and third-round picks this year. I'm not sure I really understand the trade fully from the Texans' perspective, unless the rumblings of them moving Aaron Gleen to safety in the near future are true after all. Here

I must say that I'm encouraged by Mark Prior and his performances thus far. God knows the Cubs will need much of the same the rest of this season.

Well, this is just a little bit too late late now, but I got this via e-mail this morning...

Gary Sheffield should get a 30-day unpaid suspension for his ridiculous actions in Boston last night. What a dark day for baseball.

Because there are already laws for assualt that will punish the guy just as if he had attacked the victim for his money. Why does it matter if he beat the shit out of him because he was Jewish? It's still a crime, and just as inexcuseable if the motive had been robbery. The reason for the assault is irrelevant, regardless of whatever thoughts or motive the attacker had--it's still a crime we have a law for and the punishment will be handed out accordingly.

One other reason to not make Election Day a holiday or move it to another day of the week is early/absentee voting. I can't say how much of an option it is in other parts of the country, but in Texas there are at least two or three weeks/weekends where polls are open and voting can be done before Election Day. It eliminates any possibility of using the "lack of time" excuse.

I've been told that I'm one of the the whitest white guys that's ever lived. I never knew what that meant, and I don't know if it was a compliment or not. Don't really care either way though.

Did I miss something? Is Aramis Ramirez injured in some way that prevents him from playing in this second game? Fucking Dusty and his hard on for Jose Macias...

Cowboys' schedule is a kind of a nightmare from my perspective as a season ticketholder. Decent schedule from the perspective of how their chances are this year, though. How the bloody hell did they get two Monday nighters and a Sunday night game, too? That's surprising. Perhaps Stoney was right when he said Wood might be the most overrated pitcher in MLB. I think it might be worth a shot. He's proving to be way too inconsistent to be an elite starter, but his stuff out of the pen in the ninth might be really, really tough to hit.

Jesus, the wind is blowing straight in at 16 mph and he still gave up two home runs? Terrible. I don't like having to rely on Prior in his first start to avoid the sweep.

There was a course set up by the city in a park across the street from campus when I was in college. It was fun, particularly when everyone was a little intoxicated. Haven't played in at least 4 years, but I probably would again if I had the chance.
