I remember when he was THE guy that got lots of run for a head coach several years ago when the minority head coach "crisis" first became a big deal. I never really understood it though, as I never saw what he did that was so wonderful.

But it was rather cold (in Houston terms of cold, anyway) with a couple of drizzly days down here for most of Super Bowl week this last year, yet nobody complained. And in 2006, the Super Bowl's in friggin' DETROIT. Seems like you've got a real good chance of foul weather there, so I'm not sure I buy the "weather" argument from the NFL.
-
Is the weather really that strange? Huh. Never been anywhere near LA, so I have no idea. But I agree. if they can play other playoff games in horrible weather, why can't they play the Super Bowl in (potentially) bad conditions?
-
No team has ever had home field advantage in the Super Bowl. Goddamn thing cost almost half a billion dollars to build...they better get SOMETHING beneficial out of it. And how come they don't play the Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl more often? It holds 90,000 people, and has little risk of bad weather. Makes sense to me.
-
Hilarious. The Rockies "rebuilding?" No way. Get the fuck out of here.

Who voted for Tony Phillips and Terry Steinbach?
-
Fucking retards, if that's true.

I got the Cowboys' disc. The "history of" feature itself is ok, though a little rushed at just over 60 minutes. Don't know how long the Eagles' feature is, but they glossed over a lot of the Cowboys' history. The real treat on the Cowboys' set is the complete 1992 NFC Championship Game where the kicked the shit out of the Niners for the first time. I'd assume the Eagles would have a similar feature, though I have no idea what game they'd feature since there are so few to choose from

Yeah, but what is Clemens worth in the long run? Is it worth overpaying for an outfielder and potentially hamstringing your team financially in the future on the chance he brings a 42-year-old pitcher, who is unlikely to have another year like this last one, along with him? It would sell a lot of tickets, sure, but how does it affect you next year when at least two of your key guys come due for free agency?
-
I hate the fucking Seahawks. Just stop somebody ONE goddamn time in the fourth quarter, would you?
-
Why? Jacksonville laying an egg, at home, against Houston last week and Baltimore blowing a huge lead, at home, in the 4th quarter against the Bengals a few weeks ago has more to do with their missing the playoffs than the Colts' 4th stringers. They've got nobody to blame but themselves.
-
Uh...yeah, dude. That's why he said "ALMOST unbeaten at Lambeau in playoffs".
-
Anyone know the number of times one team has beaten another team three times in one season? It can't have happened too often, I don't think.
-
Any chance Herm Edwards gets fired if the Jets miss the playoffs? EDIT: well, nevermind.

Astros cannot afford to go $119 mil for 7 years. They just can't. McLane is too rigid with his budgets, and considering that Oswalt and Berkman are free agents next year, the $40 mil they still owe Bagwell, and all the other deferred money McLane negotiated with Pettitte, Kent, Clemens, and others...it's too rich for them. There was a rumor that the Astros had offered 5 guaranteed years for $75 mil, with an optional 6th year bringing it to $84 mil total. I don't know what happened to that (Astros denied it ever being offered), but that seems more than fair to me and if Beltran isn't interested, I'd tell him thanks for your service and enjoy New York.

One of my buddies in high school was having a duel with some redneck who had two buddies in the back of his truck. They were basically racing on one of our two-lane rural roads that, for one 1/2 mile stretch, divides and narrows to only a single lane on each side over a creek before coming back together on the other side of the bridges. Well, my buddy cut them off just before they reached the bridge and thus "won" the race by crossing first. Once on the other side, however, the rednecks caught up with him and one of the fuckers in the back threw a BRICK threw the back window of my buddy's truck before they hauled ass. He chased them for a mile or so, but decided that since there were 4 of them and he was alone that it would be best to let it go. He was mighty pissed though. Personally, I've never been involved in a road rage incident or anything like that. On more than one occassion, however, I have forced assholes who think it's their goddamn right to drive 95 mph (when traffic is already going 75, more than fast enough) while weaving in and out of traffic and switching lanes constantly off the freeway and onto the exit ramps. When they worm their way into a known exit-only lane, I feel it is my civic duty to trap them there and speed up/slow down as necessary to force them off the freeway. It amuses me and makes an otherwise boring and repetitive drive interesting.

I think we're fixing to find out just how good Urban Meyer really is. Succeeding in the Mountain West is a whole lot easier than succeeding in the SEC. Not that he can't do it. But it's going to be interesting to see.

I still don't get everyone hating Mack Brown for his plea to the voters. Is he supposed to just sit back and say "Yeah, sure guys, send Cal! They deserve it more than we do!"? It's his job as the coach to help his team out any way he can. Jeff Tedford would have done the same thing, though maybe not as openly.
-
Jeff Tedford himself said after the game that 'lack of effort' was not the reason they lost the Holiday Bowl. They got their asses kicked. Deal with it.

How many of the other conferences have more than two "good" teams? That's why this whole debate is pointless--because there is no clear cut power conference.
-
Dama never said the Big 12 NORTH was any good. I'd say it's a pretty impressive bowl season for the Big 12 if OU wins Tuesday because that would be wins over Cal, USC, and Michigan. Not too shabby. What other conference can claim such a list this year?
-
And they still only won by 1 point? Oh shut the hell up. It isn't as if Michigan is some terrible team that Texas should have rolled by 30. It was two very evenly matched teams that played THE game of the year...why nitpick?

I'm so glad I gave this one the "save until I erase" tag on my DVR. Unbelievable.
