Me too, man. Could be the worst $6.50 I've ever spent in my life. Marvin nailed my thoughts on that "movie" exactly in his post. What a letdown from the classic original. Oh, and the first Mask wasn't very funny, and I doubt this one will be either.

He ain't going back to New York, unless it's to sit in the stands and watch a game at Yankee Stadium (something he recently said he'd like to do). He filed for free agency after announcing his retirement last year, too. It's more of a formality than anything. If he pitches next year, it will only be with the Astros.

Thanksgiving: We do the family get-together thing the Saturday after because my dad gets paid for 32 hours by working a double-shift on Thanksgiving Day and he refuses to give up that money. It's just as well, because my Evil Bitch Sister-in-law doesn't allow my brother to spend time with anyone but her and her family on holidays anyway. Our Thanksgivings used to include a rousing, aggression-fueled game of 4-on-4 tackle football, but because my cousin got his nose broken during said game two years ago and one of my uncles has decalred himself "too old" to play, this has morphed into a sad display of just tossing the football around in the backyard. Christmas: We used to do the traditional big family Christmas, but since my grandparents passed 5 years ago, it's become nothing more than the four of us (plus the Evil Bitch Sister-in-law now) eating sub sandwiches (my mom sees no point in cooking a huge meal for only 5 people) and opening the one gift we got for each other.

Of the films listed that I've actually seen, I enjoyed Raiders of the Lost Ark the most, so that gets my vote.

Made a pot of spaghetti tonight, which means I'll be eating spaghetti for the rest of the weekend. Yay.

Texas A&M is so overrated. OU will beat them by at least two touchdowns, especially given what happened to them last time in College Station.
-
On a roll? Dallas kicked their ass last week. The score was 31-21, but the game wasn't even that close.
-
I'm almost positive that him and Stoops said they wouldn't coach against one another unless it was a national title game. I think I remember hearing that, too. Stoops would kick his ass anyway. And Texas isn't going to fire Brown.

Astros remove the interim tag from Phil Garner's title. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/front/2883021

I really hope so.

Do you REALLY think that forcing everyone to vote would result in a different outcome? What do you base this on? The fact that "everyone you know" voted for Kerry?

Any chance we can get this thread immortalized in Classics? It's earned it.

It's not the RNC, but I've gotten at least one call a day for the past two weeks from a Republican watchdog-type group "not affiliated with any candidate or any candidate's campaign" telling me how evil Nick Lampson is. A neighbor of mine has gotten calls from Laura Bush, Bush 41, and even GWB himself. I feel unloved.

Breaking news: Gerry Hunsicker has resigned as Astros' GM.

Already voted early for GWB last Friday.

I don't know. Southwest and a couple of other discount carriers seem to have weathered the 9-11/recession storm pretty well. Maybe the problem IS with the airlines themselves and the way they run their business. It might not be the worst thing in the world if a couple of them went under. I mean, there ARE other airlines in operation; it isn't as if one or two airlines shutting down would compeltely immobilize us as a nation. Bankruptcy would force the airlines to restructure and streamline their business, and, in the end, we'd probably all win because we'd have more efficient service at lower rates. That's the nature of the free market economy. I don't have much sympathy for businesses that either can't or refuse to adjust to a changing market.

Without a doubt. His career OPS is the tenth best all time, and his OBP is 11th best all time. He's got two MVP awards, and numerous top ten finishes. For seven years, he was a better hitter than Albert Pujols is now. Out of curiosity Al, if Thomas is a lock, what about Jeff Bagwell? Their career numbers are pretty similar and he's got a MVP, too. The only real glaring difference I see between them is Bagwell has had about 200 more games to put up his numbers.

Actually, most fans knew that Landry's time was up. They got in an uproar because of the way Jones chose to turf Landry--via telephone from a golf course, without ANY previous discussion with Landry about it whatsoever. My dad still holds it against Jones to this day. Would you also include Bobby Bowden in this group? On topic, I have yet to figure out why nobody from PSU administration has just taken charge and forced Paterno out. "Respect" for the man? Pffft. How about some respect for your once-proud football program?

Yikes. Are you sure you don't have her confused with her sister?

In the past 5 years, yes. Texas has a pretty sizeable edge in the all-time record though at 55-39-5. (I expect Dama to burst in a say that this is meaningless at any moment.) But anyway, I'm so sick of Red Sox/Yankees. It means jack shit outside of New England, though it's a little nice to see the Sox finally get one over on the Yankees. Now they just need to do it again.
-
Congratulations to the Red Sox and their fans. Enjoy it. You have certainly earned it. Maybe my Cubbies will be next. What sucks for me is that my planned trip to Fenway next year might have just gotten a little more complicated, as I imagine a decent seat will now come at a much heftier price. Perfect.

The ass on the Venezuelan chick that sits in the cube next to me at work. It's exquisite.

Houston Chronicle endorses Bush, despite the majority of their editorial page being filled with anti-Bush letters and articles for the first nine months of this year. http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/p...dations/2862496
