Not really game chatter, but Corey Lidle has apparently been traded to the Phillies for two minor leaguers.

    The 1994 MLB Playoffs

Jesus...the Rangers were 52-62 when the strike hit. They were NOT a good team. The White Sox would have wiped them out.

Sammy Sosa is getting to be a liability.

Well which of the teams chasing them do you think is better and will overtake them? I don't see one.

Astros drop 2 of 3 to the Expos, at home. Clemens gets the loss despite allowing only 1 ER in 7 IP.

    TSM Game Chatter Thread

In Garner's defense, the Astros' bullpen was probably completely shot after working 8 full innings in last night's loss. With Pettitte supposedly going to give it a go tomorrow and thus the potential for another short outing from the starter, they needed all the rest they could get tonight.

    Quick question about the NFL

I think that Kahran probably meant it "should" have been the championship game because Green Bay had it wrapped up until that fateful 4th-and-26. And then, of course, the stupid Favre interception. I don't think he was implying there was anything underhanded going on that cheated the Pack out of the game. But I could be wrong.

Yep, and when you couple the Cubs' inexplicable offensive struggles when Clement is on the mound with the fact that they're facing Jason Schmidt, it looks like another "tough luck Matt we'll get 'em for you next time" loss for Clement. Houston starts a series at home against the Expos tonight. Anything less than a sweep is pretty bad for the Astros.

    Cowboys release Quincy Carter

The difference is you're talking about two Hall of Fame players here. Quincy Carter shouldn't be compared in any way to either of those guys, except for the drug thing. It's not even close. Both guys just suck, period. It doesn't matter what kind of back they are or think they are...they just suck.
  11. When you, as a rookie who has proved NOTHING, turn down the richest contract in the history of the league for a tight end you deserve all the hate you get. Get the fuck over yourself and play ball.

    Cowboys release Quincy Carter

I never saw it either. When he was on his feet out of the pocket is when he threw most of his interceptions so I have no idea what the hell people were thinking when they said that. I'm not so sure about that. I can't help thinking he'll be Chad Hutchinson V 2.0.

    Cowboys release Quincy Carter

Quiet, Skins fan. We'll still kick your asses twice this year. I am not thrilled with this turn of events at all. Jerry Jones sure is a genius for using that 2nd round pick on Quincy...woo boy.

    Cowboys release Quincy Carter

What???? Shit man. Shit. Vinny Testaverde is now our QB? Goddamn it. I didn't trust Quincy much...but I don't want Vinny. Shit. There's got to be more to this.

    Clemens ejected

I got kicked out of a high school game once while pitching. I called the home plate ump a "blind motherfucking asshole" under my breath after he called ball four on a pitch that was CLEARLY a strike. The field umpire, who was standing near first base, heard me and kicked me out for unsportsmanlike conduct. It's pretty funny now, but I was majorly pissed at the time. Coach made me run 2 miles under 15 minutes after the game as punishment, too. Oh, and Clemens denied this whole story, for whatever that's worth. He said he didn't even know he'd been ejected.
  16. Oh, I know the whole "Clemens betrayed us!" angle to it, but I just don't understand why they hate him for it. Wasn't Duquette the one that ran Clemens out of Boston? And why would Toronto fans be pissed? He won the Cy Young both years he pitched for you on what were two pretty average teams. I guess my not being a fan of either Boston or Toronto lets me look at it through unbiased eyes and the fact that I love Clemens's drive to win and his take-no-shit-from-anyone attitude keeps me from ever hating the guy. Unless he were to knock the Cubs out of the playoffs or something...then it'd be on.
  17. Craig Biggio (whiny bitch) Adam Everett (just because I'm sick of the constant blowjobs he gets here) Iverson Lebron James And then your "standard" guys: Sapp Kobe Terrell Owens On the other hand, I don't really mind Bonds and I do not understand the Clemens hate at all.

    This Week in Baseball

The Astros are REALLY blowing their chances of making a move in the wild card race, losing 6-4 today and splitting the series, at home, with the frickin' Diamondbacks. A stretch of the schedule with 9 games against the Diamondbacks and Brewers with no Ben Sheets or Randy Johnson against them and they go only 6-3. Bad news. Yet, somehow they're still actually in the race so they can't even unload talent. Quite the situation they've gotten themselves in.

    MLB TRADE DEADLINE FAST APPROACHES~!

Goddamn it, the Astros are NOT trading Beltran. From today's Houston Chronicle:

    MLB TRADE DEADLINE FAST APPROACHES~!

Clement's a FA at the end of the year, too, so you run a risk of not re-signing him as well. But Nomar's potential to not re-sign is not what stops me from making the trade. What stops me is that Clement has indeed been awesome this year and thus is worth keeping based on that alone. Good pitching has saved the Cubs' asses so far this year. Couple that with the fact that Prior (and maybe Wood too, who knows) might be up and down with the elbow for the rest of the year and you have extra incentive to hang onto Matt. Shortstop is a problem area for the Cubs, yes, but it's not crippling to them. Blowing a hole in your rotation by trading Clement when the true health of your aces is in question probably would be. I guess I just don't trust Glendon Rusch in crunch time.

    Worst one-game announcing performance

To further dogpile on the horrid ESPN Sunday Night Crew, I thought their performane in the Texans' franchise-opening game versus the Cowboys was pitiful. They were very loudly and openly rooting for the Texans in most every way and it seriously pissed me off. Leave that homer shit to the local crews.

    This Week in Baseball

I think the difference there is that the ball actually hit in fair territory before being touched by the fan. Since it touched in fair territory, it's ruled just like any other "ground rule" double and every runner, including the batter, gets two bases. I don't believe the umpire's judgment ever comes into play.
  24. Jesus. Baby Geniuses is one of my ex-girlfriend's favorite movies. Thank God I dumped her stupid ass. Who's the dipshit that approves this stuff?
