Yeah. I especially loved when Lofton dropped that bloop single into center and Wood came around to score the 4th run. Lyons was carrying on about what "great instincts" Wood has because he knew that ball would drop and was looking to score by hauling ass around third instead of holding up at second like a lot of players would. Fucking DUH! There were two outs at the time, lameass. OF COURSE he's going to be running. That shit right there made me wish for McCarver.

Wow! Nice job by Beckett to get out of that mess with only one run scoring.
-
I will be when I get home. I'll take a pitcher's duel over a 15-10 scorefest any day. Case in point, that Yankees/Twins game that just finished. That fucking rocked.

With the exception of Opening Day, is there any better day for baseball than the opening day of the Division Series'? Three kick-ass games, one right after the other. A Cubs' win tonight, and I'll be one happy dude!
-
Woooooooooooooo!! You are forgiven, Guardado. 1-0 Twins!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!
-
Fuck this! Goddamn you Guardado.

LaTroy Hawkins is a MAN. THAT'S how you bring the heat. Going to the bottom of the ninth...6/7/8 hitters for the Yanks. Anyone think Big Stein's gonna fire somebody tonight?
-
No, I wouldn't. LaRussa, for all his faults, usually has some pretty good teams that can make life difficult for division foes. You Royals fans should support a "Kevin Kennedy for White Sox Manager" campaign and let him lead the White Sox down the shitter. Then just blow up the Metrodome to get rid of the Twinkies and you guys should be home free.

Carlos Lee is too high of a price to pay for an overrated, has-been manager whose specialty is micromanaging his way into one playoff failure after another. Oh, and, from where I sit, Hargrove got screwed. It's not his fault if the talent he has isn't much good and his team is stuck in the same division as Boston and the Evil Empire.

National League: Cubs over Braves in 5 Giants over Marlins in 4 American League: Red Sox over A's in 5 Yankees over Twins in 3 NLCS: Giants over Cubs in 7 ALCS: Yankees over Red Sox in 6 (as Yogi Berra told Bernie Williams in '99: "Relax. We've been playing these guys for 80 years...they're never gonna beat us!") World Series: Yankees over Giants in 6 (I pray I'm wrong)

Judge kills "National Do Not Call List"

The difference is that everyone makes a conscious decision to drive in "annyoing" traffic. Hardly anyone invites a telemarketing call. There is more than one solution to traffic congestion, too (i.e. commuter rail, one moving closer to where they work). How else do you propose to curb telemarketing calls (besides your broken-record "Just hang up!!!"). If I don't want to be harassed, I shouldn't be. They have no right to bug me in my own home. Fuck them and their minimum wage jobs. -
Zambrano is 22 years old. He's never pitched in such a high stakes game before, so it's bound to happen. This is one reason why Dusty has traditionally disliked younger players, and the one thing that really scares me about the Cubs not making the postseason. The bullpen does alright for the most part, excpet for Alfonseca and/or Wellemeyer. The bases loaded jam last night was a very, very tough situation to walk into, though. I can't really fault the 'pen for giving up some runs in that situation (although 6 is excessive)...I put more of the blame on Zambrano for loading them to begin with. The Cubs really, really need to win-out. Houston isn't going to sweep Milwaukee, but I don't think they'll lose more than one game to the Brew Crew. I HATE the thought of a one-game playoff for the division, especially with the way the Cubs' rotation is aligned. Pitching either Cruz/Estes or Zambrano on 3-days' rest when he's never done it before against freakin' Roy Oswalt isn't a pleasant thought. In fact, if I were Dusty and I was guaranteed at least a tie for the division going into Sunday, I'd bump Wood back and pitch Cruz (not Estes, despite Wednesday's gem) against the Pirates on Sunday. That way, if you win, you get Wood starting Game 1 of the playoffs and if you lose, you get him pitching the one-game playoff. Pitching Wood on Sunday (unless you HAVE to win to force a tie) could backfire because if he were to somehow lose, then you're fucked because not only do you end up still tied for the division and face a one-game playoff, but now you have to do it without either of your aces available. Of course, the Cubs can solve all these problems by simply kicking some ass and winning out...but I have a bad feeling that that isn't going to happen.

Not baseball. Good pitching and clutch hitting are the key there. Lots of poor defensive teams have won titles.

This guy couldn't break a window after charging it TWICE, while wearing a helmet? What a pussy.

Wow! Shawn Estes throws a complete game shutout??? When did we enter the Bizarro World? Cubs should go at least 3-1 over their last 4....that's gonna make it really hard on the Astros to catch up. Hmmm....maybe I better start chilling the champagne.
-
Holy shit! Looks like it's time for me to get off my cheap ass and get a Cube. I've been putting it off, but this is like some sort of bizarro reality where something is too good to pass up.

Man, if any telemarketer(s) thought I was rude to them before, just wait until the next one calls me up. -
I think WHEN the Cubs get in, if the pitching holds up like it should, then Moises Alou is the key to winning. Sammy hardly ever gets any hits in the clutch, and Alou has been awesome in the playoffs in his career. If he hits, the Cubs should be able to hang with anyone, with the possible exception of the Giants. I think they may be too well balanced for anybody in the National League.
-
They better. After last night's abomination, they're looking like the same old crunch time Half-Astros. GO CUBS!

It was '08.

Not me. I'd rather see a rather gruesome, career-ending knee injury. In his combine workout. Yes. Perfect.

I hate Kobe as much as anyone, but this is pure bullshit. Do double-standards exist? Hell yes. Are they unfortunate? Yes. Did Kobe rape that girl? Who knows. But to say that he should be suspended just because he's been ACCUSED of doing something is retarded. Wait until the trial is over, moron, and then you might have a point.

It's probably because the name "God" appears in the title. I mean, we can't have such a blatant endorsement of God and/or Jesus in a school anywhere.

How so? There is no bigger Buffalo Bills fan than myself, but in no way were they screwed on Sunday night. The Dolphins played better, period. It is reassuring to me though that with 2 minutes left in the game, playing on the road, we only had 80 or so yards of offense, and were only down by 3 points. I don't think anyone can say anything definitive about the Dolphins until the season is done. They do this EVERY SINGLE YEAR! Thank you for stating that. I was completely stumped as to how this guy could claim that the Bills got screwed when it was very obvious that they just got their asses kicked.
