    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

So at the tapings it's been announced that Kong will face Roxxi. I really hope they let Roxxi get in some defense and not make it a total squash.

The sports coverage and announcing thread

Well Charles was on Jim Rome on Thursday with Jason Whitlock. Whitlock was trying to get Charles on the "Kobe Train".

    WWE Smackdown (4/11/2008)

Well there's your problem right there. I like Festus. I really hope they don't change his character at all. He's over just like Hornswoggle and Finlay.

TSM Town Hall: The Rebirth of ECW

Additional Questions 1. Would things had gone differently for the brand -- i.e. would the brand look different altogether today -- had RVD and Sabu not been pulled over for drugs, with Van Dam having to give up both Heavyweight Championships only a few days later? No. Sabu can't do his big moves anymore and probably would have failed a drug test anyways. Van Dam might have helped some but with things so scripted, it's not the same 2. Do you feel making an established WWE star in The Big Show the unstoppable heel ECW Champion helped or hindered the brand in its developing months? - Hindered. Big show got lazy and was injured when he was in ECW. It made the title look like crap. 3. Would adding a secondary singles title and tag titles make the brand more legitimate in your eyes? Would it help you place ECW on the same level as Raw or Smackdown? - A singles title like the TV title could help the show. I wish they would do more with the US title on the show. Guys like Burke, Richards, and Knox would do good with a secondary title. 4. Do you think young wrestlers like John Morrison, CM Punk, and Elijah Burke would be more prevalent or less prevalent in the WWE if only Raw and Smackdown existed? Would they even still be in the federation at all? - Punk, Morrison yes, Burke would have been a cheerleader. One good thing about ECW is that it helps young guys. It changed Morrison from a guy that is only over because of some chick doing the splits to a former Champion that is over with the Miz. 5. Has this reincarnation of ECW ultimately sullied the legacy of the ECW of the 1990s in your mind? - Not really. I knew as soon as I saw the first show that it would be different. Same thing with the Invasion angle and WCW. I think ECW has gotten better as the years have gone on and has made some good stars. But like Mike said, It's Vince's vision of ECW.

    The OAO Impact Thread (4.10.08)

The Joe/Angle buildup was great. Angle comes off serious and Joe looks like a man that will do anything to win. Thank god they got Karen Angle out of this storyline. For everything TNA does right, they still have utter crap. The whole Steiner/Willams team is just horrible. And what's with them hanging out with that tranny? At least that's what TNA makes her look like. And I just wish they would let the MachineGuns leave. Was Amazing Kong even on this show? I don't remember. What I do remember is Tenay/West talking constantly over promos and everything. The Opening segment I thought was funny until Tenay/West ruined it.

    TSM Profile: Christian Cage

I liked Christian a lot in WWE. Edge and Christian were one of my favorite tag teams when I was younger during the attitude days. I also loved the Christian/Tomko/Trish stable after Mania 20. Going to TNA has helped him a lot. He could never been WWE World champion but he made a good TNA world Champion. Plus, I think the smaller size of TNA has helped get him more over. With that said, I hate him as a face. He's a way better heel.

8 teens arrested in beating of girl

I love that the media thinks this is some new thing. It happens all the time in high school. Especially among cheerleaders.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

It's from one of the ppv's. I think it's Against All Odds.

    Raw vs Smackdown week 1

I just don't see it with Chavo. I don't think he's been that good since the Los Guerrero's days. He's just been so boring in his matches with Punk. He won't ever get pass the "Eddie's Nephew" stigma no matter how much the WWE tries to push him. I was really disappointed when they put London/Kenrick on Raw. They were the highlights of Smackdown for weeks in 06/07. He takes a good beating on Raw and does well with London. I"m liking the sudden push they are getting now as they have a bit of an edge now. So I'm going to pick Kendrick.

    Gas Price Check...

Especially when you can ride the bus for free. Since when? It costs $2 a ride to take the bus here. Plus the Bus is 99% always late.

TSM Town Hall: The Brand Extension - Six Years Later

    1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how successful has the brand extension been? Why? - About 6. I think it hit it's peak in 2005 and has gone downhill ever since ECW came back. Without the Brand Extension, you probably wouldn't get a guy like Cena or Lesner becoming big stars. When ECW came back, The roster was spread too thing and you got the same matches all the time. It got a little better when Smackdown "got a partnership" with ECW though. It would probably be even better if they merged the ECW and World Heavyweight title. 2. Has the extension helped to create new stars that wouldn't have had a chance to shine in the old set-up? Is it more effective than having one brand? No doubt about it. Smackdown is the best at this. Just look at Cena, Kennedy, Lesner and others. Raw is where the stars are but Smackdown is where they stars are born before they make it big. Plus you got guys like Eddie, Angle and Benoit who got new life thanks to the brand extension. 3. What has been the biggest success of the split? The biggest failure? - Biggest Success: New and fresh matches. You didn't have the big wigs like HHH or HBK killing them every week and didn't have guys on every show. Biggest Failure: Raw/Smackdown vs ECW feud. You could have had so much more legs with it. Kinda like the Invasion angle. 4. Have fans come to accept Raw and Smackdown as two separate brands with their own characteristics, or just tv shows with different wrestlers doing the same thing? - The second option. Since about 2004, Raw is such a more superior show than Smackdown. You got all the stars and big angles on Raw. Smackdown has basically become the new WWF Superstars. Once a star gets big on Smackdown(Cena, Kennedy), they go to Raw. 5. How much longer do you see the brand extension lasting? Do you still think it's a good idea? - A couple more years tops. It's already beginning to die a slow death. You got more guys going to both Smackdown and Raw every week. I don't think there should be 3 shows. ECW should go. I think it's still a good idea but needs some work(sending guys like Kennedy, who's dying on Raw back to Smackdown.)

    Random Thoughts 3-27-08 to 5-28-08

Yes I watch every week on Youtube. It's the only place I get to see one of my favorite WWE gimmicks. Lucha Hass. Plus You get to see matches like Val Venis vs Paul Burchill and D.H smith's new heel turn. Josh Matthews is so much better than Cole it's not even funny.

    CTDWAT: TNA Edition

I know people think Tomko is the most improved in TNA, but I think the real answer is the Rock and Rave Connection. I can't believe I'm saying this but Lance Hoyt is actually entertaining in the role. Hell I wouldn't mind if they got the tag titles or feuded over them with LAX.

    Joe vs. Angle V

If Joe wins, does it even matter anymore? We know Angle is going to get the title back by the end of the year. However, I do like what they are doing building it up. Got rid of Karen, Put to goofs with Tomko and just focused on Joe/Angle. If they had waited instead of rushing the feud, it might feel more important. I still wouldn't be shocked if Matt Morgan turned heel and help Angle retain.

    Retirement angles or matches thread

Anyone know if Savage really intended to retire here, or was it always in the cards for him to come back? I know the feud with Jake was booked at the last minute after Warrior bolted. But he probably would have come back eventually. Vince was the one that made Savage "retire". They wanted someone to replace Ventura and Heenan was still managing full time. Stan Hansen retired in 2000 and hasn't come back.

    Let's Talk About...

The worst Rumble is the Vince won. I think that was 1999. Anyways, 1995 was when I started watching wrestling. I was amazed by all the hours of wrestling on. Nitro, Raw, Superstars, Action Zone, Saturday Night, etc. I watched it all. Looking back now, Yeah 95 was a bad year. But back then, It was great.
  18. I was there live for the Saturday show. I don't watch ROH so these were my first shows. Saturday was just a fun event. Everyone brought it all and the Dragon Gate guys were amazing. If you liked the Nigel/Aries match from the PPV, You'll love this. And the Dragon Gate match is up there with my MOTY. I still say the Briscoes are overrated.
  19. I went to the show last night. It was outstanding. Steen/Generico vs Doi/Yoshino was the best match on the card. Got a big standing ovation afterwards too. Got to say I was disappointed at no Claudio, Hero or Danielson last night. Hopefully they will be there in October when they come back.

    Wrestlemania Predictions

MITB ECW Finlay/JBL Batista/Umaga Taker/Edge Floyd/Show BunnyMania HHH/Cena/Orton Flair/HBK I still think Flair/HBK will end the show. It would be the right thing to do but knowing WWE, HHH's title win will be last.

    Wrestlemania Predictions

HHH Taker Flair Kennedy Kane Floyd Batista Maria/Ashley Finlay -I'm almost tempeted to say that Orton will win the main and Kennedy will cash in his MITB and win. This leads to Flair beating Kennedy for the title on Raw and retiring as champ. But I know that won't happen. I still see Flair winning though. Oh and Shane will help Floyd win which will lead to a Shane/Show feud.

    4,000 dead Americans

The real objective was to do what Bush's daddy couldn't, Kill Saddam by any means necessary. Well I guess Bush accomplished that.

This Boff dude seems like a suspicious character.

Alright, what did he do this time? Probably being a dumbass like he is on every board. And it's not wildpegasus anymore, it's "Resident Evil". Of course people still call him Pegasus.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

I always find it amusing when the "experts" have all #1 seeds going to the Final Four...way to be original, guys! At least Bob Knight went out on a limb and said Pitt is going to win it all.

    ROH 3.14-3.16 (Dover and Philly-PPV)
