I agree with this statement 100%. I find the original to be very dated. I do enjoy it, but I like the remake more.
-
I'm happy for ROLE MODELS. The movie rocks and it looks like it has some great legs. Go Paul Rudd!!
-
I actually agree with you about it being really good but not great. I've stated before to people, and maybe on here when it first came out, that I saw TDK the same weekend as HELLBOY II and thought that HELLBOY was mch better. I enjoyed it a lot more than I did TDK. I don't hate on anyone for liking TDK, but as Smues stated, it's far from the best movie ever as some people like to make it out to be.

2Gold, if it makes you feel any better, the Jonas Brothers, who are all uber-religious, took a vow of Celibacy until marriage, so whichever one was dating her, did not hit it. Instead, from what I hear he broke up with her for Camilla Belle. The girl from that God awful remake of "When a Stranger Calls". Win-Win? Yeah you know, I don't buy for one minute any one of those little weasels is uber-religious. It comes off more like them playing up their image to Disney so they can sell more merch as the wholesome rock band. Every Disney star plays up that innocent shit and I don't think one of them lasted til past 16 with it. If they lasted to 16. The only guy I ever believed took a vow of celibacy and meant it was A.C Green and THAT guy deserves a god damn medal AND movie deal for pulling it off so long in the NBA. And really, I didn't even think that deep into it. Where are you getting all your Jonas knowledge? I've been subjected to their "performing" twice and holy shit, do they fucking suck. They make me hate having nieces. Watching Camp Rock AND their live DVD in one night...bullet, gun, head, click, boom is what you start thinking about. With Taylor, I don't know. Her videos always made me feel uncomfortably wrong and I like the beat and the way she sings in her songs but the lyrics are total teen girl lyrics so not meant for me to understand. But she still isn't Miranda Lambert. Seeing that girl live, she is one attractive young lady and good singer. But she also comes off like someone who if you cheated on her, she would chop off your dick and set you on fire while laughing. Eh, my girlfriend's niece and nephew live with her. The niece and nephew are Disney-holic's, so my girlfriend has learned a lot about Raven, The Jonas's, HSM actors, and I hear it from her, so you get the idea. Honestly though, I had never heard of the Jonas's until all that HOOPLAH went around during the VMA's where that skinny British guy went off on them for wearing Purity rings. Speaking of Disney, and it's wholesome image, I have an off-topic question. I seem to remember Anne Hathaway being released from her Disney contract after doing a topless scene in a film (Havoc?). Well, that one girl from High School Musical had nude pics that she "took for her boyfriend" leaked-out onto the net, and Disney instantly forgives her saying "she made a mistake, and she has learned from it". Hell, they nearly ex-communicated Miley Cyrus for *gasp* showing her back in Vanity Fair (though that was probably due more to the fact that she's underage). I don't get it. Disney has always been hypocrtical (sp?) when it comes to what makes money for them. Back o topic, I agree with the people that say she is only ok. Nothing special to look at, there are better looking female entertainers out there. I can't stand chicks taht look like if you hug them, the will snap in half.

I'm a fan of Angle, Sting and Christian, but them leaving might be the best thing for TNA. It would almost force TNA to build their own wrestlers up again. A main event scene of Morgan, Abyss, Hernandez, Storm, Roode, AJ, Joe, a returning Daniels and throw in Booker and Rhino and it would be pretty entertaining. They might also have to go back to using the X-Division again and the Tag Team division better.

I'm watching SMACKDOWN! now on DVR. I didn't mind Helm's ring gear all that much. The tattoo looked worse on TV then it did in the picture, and it didn't look good in the picture. He did look to move very slow in the ring at times, but I can chalk that up to ring rust and the fact he was in the ring with MVP, who I've never been high on and really hasn't impressed me that much. And while watching the match I had a thought, what if this whole jobbing thing had nothing to do with the piss test, but what if it was something that was planned all along? I'm wondering if Jeff is back on Crystal Meth, that might explain the shitty face paint. He really needs to stop that if he wants to be taken seriously. It just looked horrible.

I've been saying since I saw the movie that if people were talking about Ledger as Oscar worthy, that Eckhart and Oldman should get just as much praise, as I thought they were just as good, if not better in some places than Ledger was.
-
I was digging the AJ/Christy team. It's an interesting story that "he's been training" her. Don't know if it's true, but I like it. I wonder if Christy is done with R&RI right now? Whatever it is, more Christy on my TV is always a damn good thing.

Yeah, it was. I like ODB, but she is better working in the ring then with an interview show. That Sarah Palin thing was HORRIBLE.

Discussion: The Miz and John Morrison
cd213 replied to Thanks for the Fish's topic in The WWE Folder
Beer Money? You're just biased towards TNA then. Miz and Morrison are way better than Beer Money. Not so much LAX though. And if people want a comparison for who Morrison would be similar to as a face, look at the troublemaking face Chris Jericho for example. That's the kind of push I'd expect for Morrison as a face. A guy relied on comedy to push along upper midcard feuds, but never taken seriously by the "real main eventers". It's not because I'm biased towards TNA. I think they are a better team. They own on the mic, and they are both way above average in the ring. They work very well together and they get a good reaction from the fans. Plus anytime I get to see Storm ride around on his beer cooler with his beer helmet is good TV. M&M are a good team, don't get me wrong. They are one of my favorite things about WWE TV right now, but they are ok on the mic (with MIZ being the better one), Morrison just sound too wooden. And in the ring, they are above average as well. Morrison can bring it, and Miz is getting much better. It's also hard to compare two teams that aren't even in the same fed to go up against each other, but in my opinion, I enjoy BM more then I do M&M. -
I love me some Roxxi.

Everyone in the league knows what Avery brings to the table. He's hired to get under the skin of the opposing team, no matter what. When the Rangers were winning, it was okay for him to do the things he did (as a side, what he did to Marty in the playoffs wasn't bad and in fact was legal, up until people bitched about it and they made a rule against it). Now that Dallas is losing, everyone is saying that his actions won't be tolerated. Sorry, but you can't have it both ways. You hire him to get under opponents skin, and when he does something to do that (that's all this was), you are against it. He's been one of my favorite players for years, and I'm not going to jump off just because he says something that was damn funny, and people in the NHL can't take.
-
I agree that he was suspended because Sean Avery said it. It was reputation. If Crosby, or another "chosen one " made that comment, Bettman would have been laughing as well.
-
On E:60, Avery pretty much said the same thing. He bashed the league for not pushing people like him, people with a personality, to the forefront. He's got a point. People might be interested if they had a "villian" to root against, as he stated. When I first heard about his suspension, I thought he said something horrible, and then I heard the comment this morning. There was nothing bad about it. It was funny, and true. It's not like he said a racial comment to anyone and then walked away. He made a snide comment, smilied and walked away. Stop being a pussy Bettman. The comment that this would not be an issue if the Stars were playing well, is right. He got away with a lot in NY because they won with him.

WWE Raw - December 8, 2008: The Return of the Slammys

I've never seen that before. That is gold right there. "Peanut butter and Johnny." Had me rolling. -
Discussion: The Miz and John Morrison
cd213 replied to Thanks for the Fish's topic in The WWE Folder
They are an entertaining team, and one of the better teams around, but they are far from the best tag team ever, and not the best tag team today in wrestling. I'd take Steenerico before Miz and Morrison. I'd take Beer Money and LAX before Miz and Morrison. I would take Miz and Morrison before any team in WWE though. This argument on whether or not Morrison or Miz can have a run at being a face, anyone can be a face. It all comes down to how they are pushed. If one of them turns on the other, one will be face. If one helps out a face, they will be face. It all comes down to if and how they are pushed. Morrison can play a cocky face with the same character, and as long as he's going up against someone that the fans hate, he will be cheered, even doing the same gimmick. -
I don't own BATMAN BEGINS, and I probably won't be picking this one up either. I'm saving my money for REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA and MY NAME IS BRUCE. TDK didn't impress me much, as I saw it the same weekend as HELLBOY II and enjoyed HBII much, much more.
-
I don't get how people keep saying that Joe looks like a crybaby. He hasn't looked like that since he had the title. Right now he is acting more of the old badass that he was. It's not as much as it was when he first arrived in TNA, but he's stopped "crying" about things since he dropped the title.
-
I do like the fact that AJ and Joe didn't want 3D's help because of their past and how they can't be trusted.
-
The 1994 Rangers need to get some love. They had a hell of a season that year. Best team in the NHL that year, and they won the Cup to boot. I hate the Yankees, but the 1998 team gets my vote as well. They were just awesome.

So, now WWE is stealing TNA gimmicks. She's becoming Konnan?

From the TNA Board Discussion: Your Favourite Scott Steiner Lines
cd213 replied to Toxxic's topic in General Wrestling
There was a compilation of famous Steiner lines and grunts from, I believe, one of the "You can't say that on TV" threads. Your quote was by far the most memorable. "Gonna suck my dick or what?" "NO!" "What the hell ya here for then?" That's in the video DH posted. Funny shit. -
Haven't watched SMACKDOWN in a long time, what exactly is his gimmick now? Is he just Shane Helms but using Hurricane as his name?
-
Is there a documentary about the IC title, or is it just matches. Either way, I'm probably going to pick it up.
-
When the show first came out, I think we were. It was a fun show, but I don't know how well it has aged and now he's on the list of being annoying.
