Yes. In fact, they have been rivals for awhile but they have bonded over their hatred for Beth. Ok, because that's a better idea then two people who hated each other teaming for their mutual hatred over two faces they will compete against in a World Title match.

He's a "big" name for them. Plus this is the best chance for them to put a World Title on him.

Punk has the MitB. He can cash that in whenever he wants. The idea is that Punk keeps the threat lingering because Edge knows better then anyone about the opportunity of the MitB. This makes Edge paranoid everytime Punk appears. I know he has the MitB, but what's the point of drafting him to RAW if he can just head over to SD. Then again he does have until Wrestlemania.
