    RIP Ernie Ladd

Good wrestler, great man. Even in his mid 40's he was entertaining in Watts' mid-south in the early 80s. I'm glad they showed some of his interviews since most of today's fans probably never saw him in one match. He could be really intimidating and got the fans to the shows so they could see the faces try and shut him up. TNA and WWE should get today's heels to watch his interviews, not to copy it but just to get an idea on how to piss the fans off but impress them at the same time. It's sad but nobody lives forever and he certainly had his affairs in order.
  2. There are probably just as many or more that can work a good match out there, but that doesn't mean they're TV ready at least in the eyes of those in charge.

    OAO Destination X PPV Thread

You get a couple of matches that are so-so or the crowd doesn't like, but they like five or six and everything goes over well in them, what is the problem? Oh, Samoa Joe didn't get the treatment the net fans think he deserves. It automatically has to suck then. And Don Harris isn't somebody I'd want to ever mess with, forget about what you have seen from him in the ring in matches.

    Ideas for WWE Box Sets

Georgia Championship Wrestling/early World Championship Wrestling. They could feature Piper, the Freebirds, etc, but have the Road Warriors' first matches, Jake the Snake Roberts, Buzz Sawyer vs Tommy Rich in the cage, tons more.

    OAO Destination X PPV Thread

I wasn't on here writing about it because we were watching it. Overall I liked what I saw. The Styles and Rhino match was much better than what I expected. I'm tired of the VKM stuff but I'm not the type that likes any kind of shoot or smart comments put into angles. Joe should know better to piss off bookers, he's been in it long enough. Just because he's the net's darling doesn't mean he's the darling of the everyday fan they're trying to hook. And yeah, he's a talent so no reason to start bitching to me. The Orlando crowd just likes to jerk each other off basically, wow we read the internet, we're damn smart. Right now I'm liking TNA and WWE about equal, I'm waiting to see if WWE falls off after Wrestlemania.

    Jake Roberts & Terry Funk

Maybe you don't think being a wrestler is high on the scale of occupations, not sure, but nothing says a wrestler has to be a drugged out waste. This guy should still be part of WWE every week, as a manager, announcer or every now and then talent in the ring, but he was too weak. There's nothing good about him.

If WCW bought the WWF in 1996......

    No Austin, Mankind or Rock.

    The Old School questions thread

A couple of years ago at least I saw some of a documentary. I want to say the WWE's California developmental territory was featured. I remember it because the talent was excited for a show but go to it and the boss told them there were only about 10 people in the crowd. I think it was at an amusement park. Does anybody know some of the talent there at the time and who those 10 fans got to see that few others did around that time. Maybe Cena?

    Jake Roberts & Terry Funk

I'd say most anyone who's been around Roberts much at all has "heat" with him. He is a complete embarrassment to the business.

    Does anyone miss Molly Holly?

Don't believe everything you hear when it comes to the divas/female wrestlers.

    Favorite MSG Matches

Iron Sheik-Sgt Slaughter. That crowd was intense.

    OAO 2/22 Impact Thread

I think it was 3D Sucks. I was actually surprised at that chant, but then again the crowd is eating up LAX (the best Tag Team right now in wrestling). If the crowd is as smart as they think they are, they should know cheering for the team that tried to burn the American flag is not good for the average fan watching at home.

    WWE announces 2007 DVDs

The WWE tends to get criticized a lot these days for changing their minds a million times leading up to an event, but things really weren't much different back then. I just always assumed that the plan was Warrior/Hogan at Mania, but looking over the dirtsheets from that period, at different times in the months leading up to the show they considered Hogan/Zeus, Hogan/Perfect, Warrior/Perfect, Hogan Savage II, Hogan/Beefcake (heel), Warrior/Savage and Warrior (heel)/Hogan. I think a Beefcake turn would have been huge at the time, tired of being in Hogan's shadow, etc, and have him take off what hair Hogan had, maybe take off his moustache too, lol. I've watched some old tapes lately and couldn't believe some of the pops Beefcake would get and they didn't sound piped in either.
  14. What happened and when? I can't remember who he was wrestling, but I think it was around the same time that Hardcore Holly beat the shit out of him with a chair on a house show (he had a black eye, etc from it). Apparently it was at a house show and he wrestled his match with a boner. Somebody has got to have heard of that....anyone? Lol, I've heard of that before but not in a long time, usually it's when something is going on with a rat or whoever in the back and the wrestler loses track of time. Just stall or keep an eye on some 300 pound woman and it would usually be fixed.
  15. I knew I'd seen this somewhere, it took a little looking but I managed to find it in an old book of David Letterman's top 10 lists. The book is from 1991, I'd say the list was a year or two before it: Top 10 signs Trump is in trouble: #7-Recently asked advisors how they felt a "Battling Billionaire" character would go over on the pro wrestling circuit.

The WWE 2007 Hall Of Fame Thread

Like I said before, great wrestler but that's not what this is about. To make it a little legit they should have categories for those who competed primarily or completely outside the WWF (Von Erichs, etc).

The WWE 2007 Hall Of Fame Thread

It doesn't really matter what they accomplished, what matters to Vince in this is how each potential inductee will affect the product. Bob Orton got in likely, in part, to help establish Randy Orton. If it was legit, wrestlers who did very little or nothing in the WWE-WWF-WWWF would have no chance. But it's not.

    OAO Raw Thread For 2/19

They could have had Lashley be at Raw for some reason and make the save for Piper and Rhodes, getting a rub, explain he idolized them, etc, Vince telling him it was none of his business and go from there.

    Mike Awesome dies

Yeah when Douglas did it that was a one of the most memorable moments of the decade, when Awesome did it he's trash. Can any of you not get that's what he was told to do?

    Mike Awesome dies

I think this should sum it up for anybody thinking he was in the wrong for leaving ECW, for anyone that missed it. -The true story is that Mike was owed a significant amount of money from ECW and he refused to sign his contract until he received all money due him. After repeatedly not receiving money promised him Mike accepted an offer from WCW that offered his family financial security. (Lance Storm) Getting bashed in the head repeatedly with chairs can make the fans chant, can make a nice sound effect, and if a wrestler is really lucky, can lead to some dollars, but if it had anything to do with this it's just not worth it. Disappointed at this one.

    Wrestling Society X (WSX)

For what it is, not bad. I was surprised that I liked it overall. I don't usually like that style of nonstop high spots and risks since they're such a danger to wrestlers, especially in small independents where the wrestlers are barely getting paid, much less have enough for medical expenses and lost money if theyre hurt. It's certainly on the right network.

    OAO ECW Thread

I've liked the work of guys like Knox, Burke even Holly more than most on here, but they should have gradually been built up as extremists, not thrown right in there and over the established ECW names. I do understand how they feel Sabu and some others were not dependable and had to get the belt off Van Dam but even giving Sandman or Dreamer a run with the belt would have been better than the Big Show-and I did like some of what he did but there's no way it would have been accepted by the ECW fans. Van Dam should have gotten the belt back. It could have been 75 percent nostalgia/known ECW talent, even with the Dudleys, Douglas, Raven, others unavailable. Rent a 2,000 seat auditorium and tape two weeks worth if they were concerned about costs. Bring out Roadkill with the old look, Super Crazy, Doring. The guest stars made the originals look third and fourth rate to the Smackdown crowds. And unless there's a lot not known, the CM Punk de-push is one of the worst moves of all. Some of the horrible decisions may be by NBC and its owners but Vince-if he wanted-should have been able to convince them of another way to go. It's crazy to think he'd rather do it his way and fail than go a likely successful route and make more millions.
