MVP is very popular backstage and is considered to be Chris Benoit's personal project. Benoit is teaching him the ropes and wants him to become a champion.

WWE has offered a contract to Chris Jericho. WWE wants him back by the fall; preferably for the three-hour "season premiere" of Raw in October. No word yet on where Jericho stands in all this.

All assigned talent is to report in on Monday. - In addition to the names I mentioned last night, Nattie Neidhart, TJ Wilson, Ryklon Stephens and Wes Adams have also been assigned to the new Tampa terrority. - Nattie's father Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart lives in the Tampa area. - They don't currently have a building secured yet for the new Tampa training facility, but will be using a temporary building in the meantime. - Ray Gordy and Drew Hankinson have been to assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, and will be introduced on Smackdown doing a "country farm boy" tag team gimmick. - We previously reported that former TNA superstar Sonny Siaki and Shantelle Taylor had been assigned to the new developmental territory in Tampa, FL. In addition, WWE has also assigned the following talent to Tampa: Heath Miller, Robert Anthony, Johnny Curtis, George Murdoch (G-Rilla), Ryan O'Reilly, Kofi Kingston, Afa Anoa'i Jr., Krissy Vaine, Shawn Osbourne, Team Elite, and I believe Russell Simpson. They were going to give Kennedy the belt right now.........he was never going to wait till Mania. That's why they got it off him, the idea to just let it play out would have been fine had Taker not gotten injured..... They didn't want to give the belt back to Batista.

Considering when Smackdown is on, they may get more people to stay home longer to watch it to see the title change or well the Edge fans to see him win.......if it was on a Wednesday or something yea ok, but on Friday night their best bet for a higher rating is to let people know hey stick around and watch what happens.

Well a title change does tend to boost ratings......

I still wouldn't be surprised if RVD changed his mind and re-signed before his deal runs out.

Because Kennedy was never going to wait till Mania, it was going to be classic dick heel.........he was likely going to win it tonight and when he got hurt that sent them into a mad rush, I fully expect Edge to win the title at the Smackdown tapings. That's actually false. In this week's WON (obviously written before the injury this weekend), the plan was for Kennedy to go on a hot streak, do few if any jobs leading up to 'Mania, and challenge for one of the titles in one of the main matches on the show. Was that before or after Taker got hurt..........that obviously changed plans pretty quickly.
