  1. Heenan's comment is like if someone went up to Luke early on in "The Empire Strikes Back" and said "Hey Luke, do you think there's a chance that Darth Vader might be your father?"
  2. Going back to the "Who's side is he on?" deal with Heenan....I always had a problem with it as well. I mean, I saw it for the first time knowing that Hogan had turned heel. It's just that at the moment Heenan said that, you weren't supposed to be thinking anything other than that Hogan was going to come down there and tear Hall and Nash apart. American Hero Super Babyface Forever Hulk Hogan was going to save WCW---which would have made it all the more shocking when he turned once getting in the ring. Heenan saying that line made you think about Hogan turning heel, thus taking away from the moment. You would say, "Holy shit, Heenan is right! Hogan's the third man!", when you were supposed to get that reaction after he legdropped Savage. You can almost hear Tony and Dusty's "Jesus Bobby, why did you say THAT?" in their reactions to Heenan's comment.

    The Old School questions thread

I might just answer this one myself, but I want to see if I'm right: Was there any particular reason that they kept going with the matches at IYH: Beware of Dog, after the power went out? Obviously it wouldn't be shown on PPV, so was it just a way for them to say that the fans in the arena got what they paid for? I remember laughing out loud when they showed video of Goldust and Taker wrestling in the dark the next night on RAW. Also..... When a wrestler dies, and they show an "In Memorium" screen for them before the RAW opening, does that go out live in the arena as well? I'd think it would kill the crowd to see that one of their favorite wrestlers was dead. I know that's how I found out Curt Hennig had died (watching it on TV), and I really didn't feel like watching RAW after that. I can imagine a big *gasp* from the crowd or something.

History of the WWE Championship 3-DVD Set

It either says "HHH", "King of Kings", "The Game", or "Cena"

History of the WWE Championship 3-DVD Set

Many of these matches are supposed to have Jesse on commentary. I seriously doubt I will pick it up if it's just Gorilla or Vince talking to themselves in half of them.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

I can remember Jimmy Hart introducing him as "Typhoon" on Prime Time Wrestling (when they had the studio audience).....he basically gave the same promo that Crush would give on Savage in 94, which was that when Earthquake hurt Hogan, he (Tugboat) called him every day, but when Earthquake took him out (right before SS, leading to Bossman in Hogan's corner), Hogan never called him. I can specifically remember him using a prop phone and smashing it. Probably something about the fans not writing him letters in there, too. Of course, coming back and teaming with the guy who hurt you makes little sense, but oh well. Like I said, Crush did the same thing when he turned heel, blaming Savage for not saving him when Yokozuna gave him like, 4 banzai drops--and then siding with Mr. Fuji as his manager. Huh? With that in mind, does anyone know WHY Tugboat was taken out of Hogan's corner at SS 90 and replaced with the Bossman? It was a pretty "meh" role, and they didn't really play up Earthquake injuring Tugboat, just replacing him with the Bossman. Hogan really DIDN'T say anything, so "Typhoon" was correctly pissed. Were they planting the seeds for a change to Typhoon?
  10. Sorry, it has to be said: When I heard about an official NFL Network, I was psyched. 24 hours of nothing but football? Great! I hated having to pick and choose on the ESPN's, so I figured there would be non stop NFL Films crap 24/7. I wanted to get sick of Steve Sabol....well, I already was, but I wanted to hate him MORE! Well, I got the network last year, and well, it was OK. They have "NFL Total Access", which is their answer to Sportscenter. It's an alright show, and Rich Eisen is very Chris Berman-like, but during the offseason it's HORRID. It's always an hour long, but really should be 30 minutes when there is no football being played, save for the Draft. During the season, they recap all of the games, injuries, etc. and it's an action packed hour. In the offseason they spend all of their time asking Drew Brees on Chargers cam what that thing on his face is. Well, not really, but there isn't anything meaningful. And then there's the rest of the programming. There's NFL Films Presents, but not enough of it. We get "In Their Own Words: Someone", and an NFL Films well, filmed "Greatest Game". Why can't they show the original network telecast of these games? Worst of all, two things: They only show about 4 programs a day, on a loop, every 4 hours. For instance, "In Their Own Words: John Randle" is on FOUR times during this afternoon. So are 3 other shows. This evening, they'll do the same thing. Then overnight, they show NFL Total Access back to back for 8 hours. I guess they are trying to be like Sportscenter, except that Sportscenter updates itself throughout the day. Total Access does not. Recently, they've had stupid, no nonsense programming. They have shown hour long weekly (sometimes daily, sometimes ALL day) features on the Dolphins, Buccaneers, and now Chargers cheerleaders. Nothing is more exciting than seeing some angry bitch yelling at a 20 year old because she was slightly out of step, then seeing said 20 year old calling her boyfriend crying about how she doesn't want to be a cheerleader anymore. Ugh. There only seems to be about 3 commercials that they can run. I swear, I've seen that stupid NFL Shop commercial where the fake Eagles Mascot Kangaroo runs in and starts stealing jerseys about 500 times now. It's on EVERY commercial break. And, they always show a "Best of 2005" clip during each commercial break. Too bad they only seem to have about 5 of those as well. I've seen Larry Johnson's winning TD against the Raiders and Shawn Alexander breaking the TD record over and over and over. It has the potential to be something terrific, but they keep showing the same crap over, and over, and over, and over......and over. So, a boring recap show, repetitive programming, and horrible "original" shows= NFL Network is teh SUCK!!!11!! Anyone else who has this channel agree?

    OAO Raw - 7/17

You'd think Vince would stop relying on the Spirit Squad to destroy DX. Ugh, it's 1998-99 all over again, and DX is Austin. Who cares. I don't.

    SNME

Pro Wrestling is horribly, horribly uncool right now. It's no shock the rating for SNME was so low. You can list as many reasons as you want, but the fact of the matter is that the average American tuned into NBC on Saturday night, saw that wrestling was on, and turned the channel. In 1999, they wouldn't have. Plus, it's the summer. People are doing other things besides watching television on a Saturday night at 8pm, and that will probably be the WWE's justification for the rating. Either that or Paul Heyman's appearance drove off the viewers who were anxious to see superstar John Cena. Only the most hardcore of fans are watching now, and even they can't stomach it.

    The Old School questions thread

Any particular reason why the WWE never holds events at the United Center in Chicago? They're always at the Rosemont, including this year at WrestleMania. They had SummerSlam 94 there, and made a big deal about it being the "first televised event" inside the United Center, but I can't remember them ever going back. WCW did many shows there, though.

    OAO Raw - 7/17

Either Umaga wins due to a Edge run in..... or A DQ or non finish due to a Edge run in or Cena goes over clean with the STFU or FU or Edge runs in, but Cena overcomes all of the odds and goes over clean with the STFU or FU. I can see either of the last two happening. As soon as I saw that the match was made, I immediately thought, "Pissed off Cena goes over clean to look even stronger". We'll see.

    Mark Henry injured at SNME

I feel bad for him, because he's been having a good year. Well, a good year by Mark Henry standards nonetheless, but oh well. I am glad he won't be on TV anymore, because he wasn't very good. I knew something was wrong when Nick Patrick threw up the X and he rolled to the outside just as Batista was getting tagged in. Did Patrick pull the "I didn't see the tag" bit on Batista to give Henry time to get out of there? I could have sworn Rey made a clean tag. I think he'll turn into Kevin Nash and come back with no heat and not be worth a damn anymore. Too bad. He'll probably end up in TNA or something, or will quit wrestling altogether.

I LOVE how the ECW table is now the Spanish Announce table.

    SNME

Wasn't he the WCW announcer? Why can't they use the old WWE belt when Cena isn't the champ? I'm sure the spinner will still sell well if it isn't on TV. Are Edge and Lita an item or not? I thought Edge was "working on his marriage", but I sure couldn't do that if I had to tongue kiss Lita every week.

    SNME

Watch Edge's expression when he comes out. Meltzer has said you can tell if he's winning or not by his smirk or lack thereof as he walks to the ring. And don't you think Hulk will tell Brooke what happened? LMAO at how they already have a Taker/Show promo ready.
  19. JimmyHendricks

    SNME

I would have had Randy continue to be all respectful to Hulk about Brooke, which would win Brooke over, but Hogan would be the overprotective asshole dad. Brooke would finally go with "bad boy" Randy to get back at her dad, and THAT's interesting. Instead, they had him RKO him on a Buick trunk, and now both Hulk and Brooke will hate Orton, Hogan goes over clean as SS.....bleh.

    SNME

I can't believe they are calling her "Brooke HOGAN" I mean, yeah, that's her "name" (actually, isn't it Bollea? Oh well, kayfabe in real life), but that just doesn't sound like a pop star. "Brooke" is more like it.

Please don't tell me Henry tore his quad. I mean....great, he's gone for at least 8 months, but good lord, is there any OTHER injury in the WWE?

Patrick threw up the X. Henry's Hurt. EDIT--Yeah, something's wrong. Batista went in there and pinned Booker. They looked lost.

    The Youtube Thread

Am I the only one who thinks this parody was waaaayy better than the DX Nation parody? I mean, Jason Sensation as Owen was great, but other than that, it wasn't anything special. Speaking of the DX Nation Parody, can anyone find that, and the full thing as well? After Owen died, any footage of it released by the WWF edited out the Owen impersonation. Another thing: Man, the crowds were RABID back then. Look at all of the signs and movement. Now everyone is too bored to react. One more thing: Jason Sensation was amazing. His Owen was perfect, and when he came out as Shawn in the Corporate parody, everyone in the crowd thought it was really HBK, and booed the hell out of him. He even has his mannerisims down--watch when X-Pac crotch chops him. They should really bring him back.

You think ESPN sucks? Well, NFL Network is Worse?

Also, they are really, really pushing and advertising the fact that LIVE NFL GAMES!!!!11!! will be airing this upcoming season. I think they believe that people will order the network on that basis alone, and then fill the schedule with repeated fluff. Like Leena said, they also will show all the preseason games, which is kind of neat, but it's the preseason, and it gets boring quick when you have the 6th string QB in there. What they do is what Sirius satellite radio does and show the first half with one team's announce team, then the second half with the other's. It's kind of cool, and balanced. If only they would do that with the regular season. Speaking of that, they really seem to touch on recent stuff. I mean, almost all of the programming (save for a vintage NFL Films show here and there) focuses on something that happened in the last 3 years or so--most of it the 2005 season. I'm a huge nostalgia fan, and love the old 60's John Facenda narrated stuff. Yet they don't show much of that. I sure hope they realize that people care about that stuff.
