Great question from a caller cut off so Larry could pimp Harry Potter. Fantastic show with fantastic guests. But what a waste of time taking 34 commercial breaks.

Damn, how many people can they fit at that table?

I agree. It seems they take a commercial break every 5 minutes. It's a shame, because Debra, Marc Mero (although he said some good things tonight on Nancy Grace) and others will stink up the airwaves as long as this is revelant. I think Cena should comment on the drug testing, because it seems like a sham to the average viewer if Benoit had steroids in his house.

If Vince McMahon escapes from all of this without a federal investigation/scratch, he should thank Jericho. He has been the most articulate, intelligent commentator in wrestling's defense since this began.

News flash from Nancy Grace: Frank Gotch DEAD!! Was it steroids? The best quote about Nancy Grace came from a local talk show radio host who said (while reporting on her recent announcement that she was pregnant): : I remember seeing a parody skit on SNL about Nancy Grace and thought it was too over the top and fake. Then I saw the real show and it was exactly like the SNL skit."

I agree. I think it's impossible to delete him forever. He's been part of too many classic moments. I'm sure we'll never see his embrace with Eddie at WM 20 ever again, but I'm sure he'll still be in Flair's Nitro return promo, and be put back in the Monday Night Wars and other 24/7 stuff.

What would it take to make you interested in the WWE again

The entire roster is too bloated. They could let go about half the talent currently under contract and I wouldn't care. Character development sucks. Everyone is speaking scripted lines given to them by some unfunny former sitcom writer. The characters they come up with are uninteresting, or rehashes of old characters from 10-15 years ago. Their top guy, who is supposed to be a face, is hated by half of the fanbase. Perhaps it's because I'm 25 now. Perhaps 10 years ago I would have loved this stuff. Perhaps I'm not in the target audience they are striving to impress. I don't know, but I don't have the desire to watch like I did in 1997. What could make me interested again? I really don't know at this point. Things aren't spontaneous anymore. Like someone else said, we already know what is going to happen, before it happens. And if it does go differently, it's usually not to big of a deal, or whatever shocking thing that happened goes back to then usual within a month or so. Nothing seems realistic-they aren't breaking down any walls like the nWo did, "invading" WCW 11 years ago. When they try to recreate Vince/Austin, it comes off as a really bad imitation of it, and no one believes that Eric Bischoff/Teddy Long/Vince (now) is REALLY mad at DX/Cena/Batista. I mean, we all knew Vince/Austin was a storyline, but it SEEMED real. Nothing seems real, anymore.

Cena, at least to me, comes across as very convincable(sp?) and well spoken when he's talking serious. I thought both his Eddie and Benoit tribute testimonials seemed very sincere and well done. I can understand why Vince would want him to represent the company. Has anyone seen any kind of comment from The Rock yet? I know he doesn't like to discuss his wrestling career much anymore, but I am surprised to have not seen some kind of statement from him.

    WWE rebounding from WM 23

It seems I'm the only one here who doesn't think too highly of WM 20. TWO Fatal Four Way tag title matches, Taker vs. Kane for the 325th time, and the debacle of Goldberg/Lesnar make it a average WM, for me at least. Yes, the two title matches and Rock/Foley vs. Evolution was good, but it wasn't one of the top 5 like some people here say. I think a lot of the love came from Benoit's win (although that obviously may have changed recently), but it didn't save the show. It was a top 5 WM moment for sure, but it didn't immediately catapult WM 20 to the top of the list. Best WM, top to bottom, is X-7, followed by 10, then III. Worst WM for me is 11, with a football player fighting a midcarder in the main event. IX is second worst (at least the outdoor venue was cool), followed by 15 (Russo-riffic!) When you have a booked match between two guys to determine which one will special referee the main event, and it turns out NEITHER end up doing it (although Foley did show up at the end), THAT's some overbooking, I tell ya.

I saw the entire thing and he pretty much owned both colmes and whoever the woman was. He made a really good point that there was some alcohol found (which i was under the impression it was just one bottle but i could be wrong), but its not sexy enough for the media if it was just alcohol related. He goes on to say just look how many people are in jail for serious crimes related to alcohol but you don't see any outrage by the media if someone does something wrong while they were drinking. He has a very good point there. He goes on to say there is a lot of misinformation out there in the media. Whoever that woman was really came across as a grade A bitch, she was really condescending and arrogant. Nash admitted to taking steroids but said he had never personally seen any roid rage himself. She said that made his credibility questionable (apparently she thinks everyone who has ever taken them goes nuts all the time). You could tell this really annoyed him, He comes back and said something "lady have you ever taken steroids?" she says no of course not, and he says "well then how do you know anything about it" (paraphrasing here as colmes was cutting him off). he was shaking his head when they faded to black. Funny stuff. After reading that, I picture that GEICO Caveman commercial where he debates some Nancy Grace look alike on a news show. I bet Nash had the same reaction.

Nah, Chris and his family are living safely in the mountains of Oregon with Kurt Cobain, Andy Kaufman, Bruce Lee and Jimi Hendrix. and Tupac. And Elvis. The media coverage has gotten worse and worse. Since it has to do with Pro Wrestling, there is an endless amount of washed up ex performers who are more than happy to put their faces on TV. And there's plenty of them that were fired by Vince, and have no problem talking shit about him. I'm sure we'll see Dennis Stamp on Scarborough any day now. Even though the nature of the crime is the total opposite, every media outlet is pinning this on steroids. If you actually READ how he did it, it had nothing to do with being in a rage. I loved Jericho's "It's not like he (makes injecting motion into arm) took some steroids and suddenly wanted to kill his family". His doctor giving him 10 months of steroids every 3 weeks is a MAJOR, major deal. This could be Zahorian all over again for Vince. And, despite everything that has happened in the last week, there is a teeny tiny part of me that thinks that Chris might not have done this and been killed along with Nancy and Daniel and set up to look like a murder/suicide. I know, I know, he did it. Meltzer is going to give us 343 pages of Observer to prove it, but I dunno. Maybe all those "throwing up blood/sounding groggy" phone calls were with someone holding a gun to his head. Damn. I watch too much "Unsolved Mysteries". Nonetheless, it's gotten pathetic on the news (Debra for what, the 5th time now?), and RAW was actually pretty good tonight since they had to almost create new storylines from scratch.

"who's sleepin with who round here?" Why is that theme so loved? I actually liked "The Game" until it hit year 3 or so, and became annoying and repetitive.

No he didn't. He was some idiot who was also posting about fucking Stacy Keibler in the ass and that Chavo rapes women. Why aren't they investigating those posts? How do we know Chavo doesn't do that? He's some dumbass wrestling fan who had nothing better to do than troll Wikipedia on a Sunday night. Anyone who knows anything about Wikipedia knows that ANYONE can edit almost ANY page at ANY time. It's getting beyond ridiculous that they keep talking about this.

Ha! Warrior couldn't be on because of "unforseen technical difficulties". Nah, they just found out how fucking crazy he is. Why is Debra on every one of these shows? Oh, I know why. She'll talk nonstop about how terrible pro wrestling is. Just what they want. Why is the Wikipedia idiot still being treated as some sort of legitimate source/subject? Do they really think Benoit called him and told him to post that? They're beating a dead horse.....except for the Astin stuff.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

Well, after nearly 3 straight days of checking almost every pro wrestling news website, this board/topic, and watching the 24 hour cable news, I am, as some of you have said in the past, "Benoit-ed" out. I can't explain it, but last night, as I checked this thread before I went to bed, I just wasn't as interested. Perhaps it's the shock wearing off, I don't know. I'm going to post some quick thoughts, and unless something else substantial comes out of this (toxicology reports, etc.) I'm taking a sabbatical from this thread, and this story. This is easily the biggest and most shocking news in the history of professional wrestling. I never thought something would beat Owen Hart falling to his death on live pay per view, but I was wrong. The fact that it was one of the most respected guys on the roster, one of the few that you would associate with any type of evil deed, makes it that much more appaling. I'm angry with the news media pushing the "roid rage" excuse. Chris Benoit had many, many issues in his life that could have led to this. It always bothers me when people try to blame something else other than the person responsible. When Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris shot up Columbine High School, it was because they listened to Marilyn Manson (which they really didn't). When Cho Seung-Hui killed 32 people at Virginia Tech, they tried to blame the movie "Oldboy". And when Chris Benoit killed his entire family, it was because he took some steroids (which Vince McMahon did nothing to stop) and became enraged enough to murder two people. They always blame something else but the person. The fact of the matter is, Chris Benoit killed his wife and son. Whether or not he had steroids, meth, alcohol, crack, weed, Raisin Bran, or anything else in his system is not enough to justify the fact that this man made the decision to do this. I'm sure when the toxicology reports come back, it will show he had some sort of steroids in his system. Whether it's a miniscule amount or a large amount, and whether or not he had any other narcotic in his body, the media will latch on even more to the "roid rage" idea as a reason. I side with the WWE. Chris Benoit took almost 2 days to kill his family and himself. He deliberately killed his wife, then his son, and then himself. He didn't snap, and in a rage, kill them, and hang himself in a 2 hour span. He tied his wife up. He put bibles next to the bodies. He (we think) drank a bottle of wine before hanging himself in a most unusual way. He took the time to call his employer and lie to them about his family having food poisoning to excuse himself and buy himself time. He took the time to lock his dogs in a secure location. He sent text messages several times over to several different people so they could find him. In other words, he knew exactly what he was doing, and he did it. I feared many pages ago in this thread that this would turn into Vince McMahon and the WWE vs. The Media, and that's exactly what is happening. FOX News (among others) started the steroid arguement as soon as it began to become apparent that Benoit was responsible. And as soon as that D.A said that steroids were found in the home, you could almost hear every single news outlet scramble to dig up every possible avenue that led back to Vince McMahon letting his wrestlers take steroids. They latched onto it, and they haven't let go. They won't, either, unless some pretty white girl goes missing again, and then they won't care. I know some are upset with Vince and the WWE distancing themselves from Benoit and not taking the blame, but they are a company, and have to make those kinds of decisions. Chris Benoit has no place in the WWE, it's history, or anything in pro wrestling in the future. Will I be able to watch his matches? Sure. Will I be able to enjoy them? No, probably not. I believe some sort of reform is needed in professional wrestling, especially the WWE. Vince McMahon is obsessed with his performers looking like supermen, and I'm sure wants that to happen, no matter what the cost. The fact that you CAN have steroids, as long as they are prescribed by a doctor is the George Zahorian saga all over again. You'd think that after being indicted 14 years ago, Vince would do anything to avoid even a single steroid in his company. But I guess not. The "wellness policy" is flawed. They'll never admit it, but certain people are exempt. I doubt we'll ever see HHH or John Cena "test positive" for anything and "violate" the policy. I don't think the Undertaker will ever be asked to piss in a cup. Randy Orton should have been fired months ago. The company has it's favorites. The bar has been raised in the last 10 years. Ladder Matches happen several times a year. There are THREE different kinds of cage matches. High Risk maneuvers are a common thing. Going to the top rope is an every match occurance. And thus, we see more and more injuries, and more and more top performers going out time and time again. They work 300 days a year. There are 12 Pay Per Views, 3 weekly "live" television shows and countless house shows and overseas tours. Wrestlers constantly work through injuries, sometimes making it worse. We hear stories that people ask for time off, and are denied. Chris Benoit (if he had been telling the truth) was expected to leave his sick family in the hospital so he could wrestle the next night. Would it hurt them to cut back a little? I know, I know. It's the "nature of the business". If they don't want the lifestyle, they shouldn't be in it, blah blah blah. But the business has changed, and now more than ever you are expected to look a certain way, and perform a certain way. What does this have to do with Chris Benoit killing his family? Well, I don't really know, because there is no excuse for that. But I wonder if he would have had more time to spend with that family, perhaps things would be a little different. I'm sure I've contridicted myself over and over in this post. Oh well. It's how I feel, as a wrestling fan, and as a person. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to living my life. Sooner or later we all have to.
