I'm....going to have to agree with Truthy on that one. All he has to do is lock in a rear naked choke for 4 seconds, get pulled off the guy, snap his fingers, say "Just like that." and you've got yourself a catchphrase and a champion who's established himself as good enough to put anybody in a match-ending submission hold near-instantly...rather than one that looks like a punked-out pansy unless you watch the show for the next half hour to see him "man up" by offering challenges so he can beat them in the ring.

Knockouts are more attuned to the casual channel surfer. Lord knows it's easier to follow a Knockouts match joined in progress than it is to follow virtually any other TNA storyline regardless of what point you inject the viewer.

If the 06 finals were fixed, it must have been due to the 'star power' of Shaq & Wade over the non-star power of Dirk and...uh...

I don't know about the rest of it, I just want to know what these 300,000+ people were doing and who's letting them know when the Knockouts are on the screen. And yes, I realize Nielsens are estimates and that it's likely there weren't 320,000 television sets being turned on/channel changed to Spike at the Knockouts match, but still. Somebody's cuing the Nielsen samples to watch the Knockouts.

I always thought Cleveland conviently won the lottery to save the franchise. They, surprisingly enough, tied for the worst record in basketball that year with Denver. Cleveland snagged #1 and Denver slipped to #3. Leads one to wonder, though, if Denver gets James and Cleveland's got #2/3/4, do they take Wade, Anthony, Bosh, or everyone's favorite trivia answer and the Human Victory Cigar, Darko Milicic?

I almost gave a shit about Lethal v. Dutt, but then I saw SoCalVal giving an angry look at Dutt for ruining her wedding and was mildly disappointed she didn't go after him herself instead of just standing on the other side of the ring, shaking her head. I suppose it's my own fault for thinking the Randy Savage imitator would be the sensible, logical, sane one in the relationship.

Looks like Carlito was the last to realize that WWE wasn't going to push him any longer than they had to in order to get him to stay with the company.

Yeah nice try Truthy. Note the difference. I bolded it for you, even. Jingus said it was "nonsensical" that a network airing programming where women are attacked, raped, beaten and murdered will not let a male interviewer half-assedly slap some goliath amazon twice his size who's clearly capable of killing him merely because said goliath is female. Truthiness then twisted it into some equally nonsensical crusade where he split his time equally between implying Jingus is a misogynist who beats women and implying that women are inferior to men and should never compete against them in anything.

Dudes on babes: It depends on how it's booked. Obviously if a guy lands a few shots and runs off before getting his comeuppance, people will be pissed...but what about how Heyman booked Alfonso v. Beulah? Fonzie got some shots in, he got his "He's beating up a woman, what a dick" heat, and then Beulah kicked the shit out of him, pinned him in the middle of the ring, and left him lying in a pool of his own blood. All Jingus is pointing out, if my assessment is correct, is that when taken in context, saying "You can do pretty much anything to women on every show on our network, except for wrestling" is the exact opposite of....virtually every other network on the planet, really. You can get away with anything in wrestling, from assault, attempted murder, grand larceny, grand theft auto, robbery, burglary, breaking and entering, resisting arrest, rape (Remember Kane & Lita?), blackmail...

Damn Met bullpen. Needs more Latinos. That is all.

Cleveland to a big market is a conspiracy, yet no mention of the Frozen Envelope, the back-to-back #1s for Orlando, or even wild reaching for the Toronto "Please save basketball in Canada" or this year's Bulls wins? Bad form, MBC.

There's nothing for players to spend money on yet, but player purchases are about even with updated tactics as 1a and 1b on the "To be added next" listings. They'd probably be in already if not for all the rampant cheating and whatnot during the offseason.

He's caught it on his fingertip, obviously perfectly. That's probably a birthday DVD for me, assuming I can wait long enough to not just buy it myself. Question for the panel: If you had to recommend one, would you recommend the AWA or WCCW documentary?

Anybody who stepped forward would have been putting their own ass on the line for fraud and their career would be over regardless of the legal outcome. It's logical that the only guy who would put his ass on said line is the one who's already on the line and already has his basketball career over.

But man, what a comeback. Those back-to-back saves by the Turk goaltender were just ridiculous, and at least two guys (I believe they were both Turks, coincidentally) had to get facial gashes closed & bandaged mid-match. Swiss goaltender should have had the first goal, but the second one was a really unlucky deflection off a Swiss defender, nothing he could have done considering he was in mid-save-motion when it deflected.

You've been Dugganed. "USA, USA, USA".

Has he been fining people for questioning the officiating lately? I'd be looking for a reimbursement if I'd been fined for it at all in the last 8 years.
-
Isn't the whole "My referees are incorruptible and I'll fine anyone who says otherwise" gung-ho attitude exactly what allowed Donaghy to do what he did and get away with it as long as he did? I don't expect Stern to come out and take Donaghy's statement as gospel, mind you, but all things considered it really couldn't hurt to have just said "We'll look into it" rather than maintaining the weakly faked smile and delusional facade of pretending everything's peaches and cream.

Wrong Mike Williams, naiwf, but still an accurate observation. I hope anybody with the last name Williams takes heed.

Can you even call Carr a bust? I mean, Houston had to take a quarterback with that top pick, it's just what you're expected to do as an expansion team. That draft class didn't have a single quarterback worth taking, they were just unlucky (who were they supposed to take, Joey Harrington? Josh McCown?). If you want a bust that year, look at Mike Williams at #4, 3 spots above Bryant McKinnie and 6 above Levi Jones, people actually still playing their position in the league. Sad to think, though, that if Houston had come into the league a year earlier they'd have taken Michael Vick, and if they'd come in a year later they would have had Carson Palmer.

And here comes the excuse train, from bad left foot to the heat to fatigue to a kick from Da'Tara early in the race. From what I saw, it looked like he was just blown up at the 3/4-1 mile part. EDIT: Oh, ouch, Big Brown's the first Triple Crown favorite to finish last. I guess it's fitting that a horse named after a sponsor with a confirmed allegation of steroid usage is the one with that distinction, though I would have used the same argument had he won the race.

If we're making moves, make them during the offseason; only a -1 chemistry hit during the offseason (not that it really matters, but every little bit helps). I've got a level 4 QB in the D-Leagues; he won't be very good on the field but Ortega's not going to miss many snaps anyway. Where'd Annie go (again)?

Why would he come back, though? I mean, I know he's retired and come back a couple times before, but he won't make any more money than he would already have made in Mayweather v. De La Hoya II (which is the only fight I could see him coming back for), he's already beaten De La Hoya the first time around, and he's undefeated. If he comes back I don't think it'll be unless he Tysons and blows all his money on drugs & shit and ends up needing the money.
