Why Has the NHL Traditionally Done Poorly on US TV?
Mike wanna be replied to TMC1982's topic in Sports
I'd say it's more #2 than #3, because soccer has tons of downtime by comparison and most Americans still don't give a shit about that. Americans like pinning hopes on one person, one position, and in big sprawling soccer and fast-paced in-and-out hockey it's virtually impossible to find the player you're looking for (unless you're a fan of the goalie). -
It doesn't. It does if you have DISH network. Hooray network disputes, it's lasted a year longer than it was supposed to. SNICK: I watched that shit for aaaages. I only stopped because I got too old to guilt my dad into letting me have control of the ancient only-one-channel-at-a-time moving satellite dish on Saturday nights.

WWE General Discussion - January 2009

I'd be shocked. It draws monster ratings (for Sci-Fi, anyway) and it's taped with another show (so it doesn't require any extra setup cost as far as trucking the ring and the TitanTron around). Plus it's an easy opportunity to bring guys from developmental and put them on TV with no explanation or hype to see how they can do on their own without the WWE machine making them a star. -
They were only there out of "Please don't cost us Wrestlemania" self-interest; what do they care if Shane McMahon walks into a 3-on-1 assault like an idiot? Maybe he got a hold of whatever Duggan was on last night; caught the Hands of Stone virus or something.

Ongoing ECW Spoilers for Jan 27, 2009

Should've been Repo Man. I'd have accepted Cryme Tyme, even. -
Have Edge drop the belt in the Chamber at NWO, find two more people to stick in the feud and call that the MitB match. There's gotta be another blond Canadian and daredevil North Carolinian on the payroll somewhere...

Ugh, I wish they wouldn't use the 1992 Rumble discussion of Warlord. He wasn't eliminated in 2 seconds at that Rumble.
-
~45 minutes for first 2 participants + 28 further entries, so no. 15 minutes of filler plus post-Rumble festivities leaves us at 10:30, a feasible cutoff point, I guess.

We Want Christian chant, and Vince is clearly doing his Angry Vince stomp around backstage.

This one's getting TNAed in more ways than one.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania Thread
Mike wanna be replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
I'm surprised Rourke would make such an announcement. You'd think Vince would want the angle to start on wwe programming. I mean why is Rourke after Jericho? Did Jericho badmouth him on wwe.com or something at least? Jericho's the only guy over enough for anyone to care about, yet willing to job to a one-off actor. Cena already did his meaningless quasi-celeb job last January. -
Build to Orton/HBK at WM 26 for the title of "real Legend Killer", if HBK manages to retire Flair and Undertaker at consecutive WMs.

Hassan makes his triumphant return in his hometown. A man can dream.

The place I used to get my pay streams from went through WWE.com and they were really good quality; I'd imagine they can only be better when they're legit and not proxied to hell to avoid WWE realizing they have 50 people watching the same stream.

Odds on Ziggler's elimination occuring as he yells at someone just eliminated: 1:1

Teach them to throw elbows. They won't run up the score when their players are getting wrecked every time down the court, and if everybody fouls out who gives a shit, you were down 50.

It'd be a decent storyline move, at least. "You fired the Wrestler of the Year, you humiliated him, only to give him his job back, give him his Rumble spot back...and watch him win the Royal Rumble, making you look like an even bigger idiot for firing him in the first place, and now, I'm going to walk, scot-free, to give the Wrestlemania 25 main event to the other brand, to Smackdown, where they appreciate talent. Bravo, Steph!" Seriously, though, Orton has to win. He was one word away from being fired before he punted the boss in the head; he needs a reason to not be outright fired and I don't think they'd rehash "Vince wants revenge so instead of firing him he's going to make his life a living hell" from the late 90s.

Out of 20 sports stations he applied to, only one had any idea who he was.

I don't think Sanchez is a #3 pick, I don't see anybody else at #3 worth trading up for, and yet I don't see him falling to the #3 pick of round 2 for KC to get him. KC has enough pressing needs and will have a new coach, they can wait a year on QB in order to fill other gaps. I'll go with Random Googled Mock Draft and say Sanchez goes #10 to San Fransisco.

Panthers D-coord Mike Trgovac just walked out on Carolina. He wasn't given a better job elsewhere, he wasn't offered any job elsewhere, he just...didn't re-sign, I guess. This looks more like a "we need Peppers more than we need your 30-ppg-against-down-the-stretch defensive coordinating" move, as the door is now open for a 3-4 scheme. Even though I hate the 3-4 and everything it stands for. Last year with Jenkins in the middle was the time to try implementing it, not now.

Castle Crashers.....get the demo. The game is pretty much the demo, but 4x longer. I found the demo to be really fun, but upon buying it found the game horribly repetitive (then again that's the point of beatemups, so.) Also it was just patched for multiplayer, so that may make it more interesting. Braid...I really enjoyed the demo, but there's no replayability factor so I haven't bought it yet. It's a platformer with the time control twist, so if you like platformers it's a good buy. Haven't touched the Pirates game.

Smile more! Shake that pelvis. ...hrm...too much smiling.

I want to see if he's got the post-Lashley really short haircut, or if he's gone old school and brought back the pompador. I also look forward to some relatively big announcement, since they're using "Vince returns to RAW" for the last RAW before the Rumble.

Knox sneak-attacks Rey a lot, Rey beats Knox in the ten-man, and then last week Knox got taken out of the ring by Mysterio. So I guess you can beat the shit out of anybody as often as you like and not have to face them in an actual match until they prove they can fight back.
