WON News + Notes (December 11 Issue)

Here's one that baffled me: How do you NOT KNOW if he's still working there? I understand that it's basically between Heyman and the McMahon family as pertaining to his employment, but how can nobody in the company that the Observer talks to know if he's still on the payroll, especially when you consider he's been writer on 2 brands, a manager AND a color commentator for said company?

Jesus I hate MNM's music so much. EDIT: And JR busts out "Yae-hoo" for the first time since the DX impersonates the Nation skit.

Jesus, JR is awful. "How's he still standing?" "...He's not, he's on his back!" "Ye-well-uh, how's he even on his back?" What happened to JR? I know he signed that new contract, is he just mailing it in?

Did JR just say that the winner of next week's battle royal comes back and wrestles for John Cena's WWE title later tonight?

If Lawler's going to go all white, he really needs to ride a white horse down like he used to.

OAO Monday Night Raw Thread For 12/11/2006

Even though I'm not a big fan of Monty Brown, I would've rather seen him in his leopard-print tiny-ass trunks than Johnny effin Nitro hyping the Cena/K-Fed Worst Match of the Year 23 hours into the fucking year in question. EDIT: I can't give you a comment, Todd Grisham, so instead I will clearly enunciate a challenge to you, John Nitro!

I assume they're too worried about the negative portrayal of Native Americans and blacks to make a wild west MMORPG.

You MIGHT be able to. I wasn't able to right away, so I gave up and left for the ACC (I was getting bored of coaching Syracuse and wanted to at least make a run at a national title before heading elsewhere).

It's a messed-up BCS system in 07; the Big East winner automatically goes to the Orange Bowl like they used to, while in reality they just get an automatic at-large. Wow, that's messed up. Might explain some things though, yet still. That's all sorts of messed. I don't wanna get an automatic Orange Bowl if I win Big East... Sadly though, my card corrupted so I lost my saves and had to restart from scratch. Went back to a ball controll team for Toronto Crusaders (and Ottawa Aces as the same), but decided to amuse myself by creating a 5'5 HB and having him be the starter. He's so small and fast (being smaller make'em faster, for whatever reason) that he just finds the holes and breaks free but fuck it when he gets hit, 'cause man, he drops like a rock. I'm so drafting him. And I don't like my "things to accomplish list" this time around: Beat West Virginia (its my rival, stupid game not letting me take Ottawa), achieve bowl bid, beat a team with 5 or 6 prestige. For a B- overall team, that's not gonna be an easy task. I can probably get the bowl bid, but my only 5 or 6 presitge team I'm facing is West Virginia and Louisville (I think). If I don't complete my goals, what's the likelihood of being fired? Because I got a bad feeling here that WV is the only team that is 5 or 6 stars. You have to really suck to get fired. They may not offer you a contract extension if you don't achieve at least one of the goals, but as long as you aren't losing most/all of your games you won't get outright fired. Hell, if you can beat West Virginia you're guaranteed to reach at least 2 of your goals, and if you're good enough to pass them you should be good enough for 6 wins + a bowl bid. Oh, and you are almost definitely stuck with the Orange Bowl in the Big East. I had to take Syracuse to the ACC to get into the national championship game. (I also moved West Virginia to the ACC, so the Big East is absolutely garbage in my game)

    OAO ECW Thread- 12/5

If they save before they get knocked out, the damsel is obligated to fall madly in love with her savior. A Tazz/K^2 relationship isn't something we want to see, and neither is Cena/Maria.

ECW's next PPV 'December To Dismember'

Heyman screws Big Show and leeches onto Lashley. Big Show goes away never to be seen again. DUH I dont even need to watch Tuesday night. Does Lashley side with Heyman, or just get latched on to? It's arguable either way, since Van Dam and Sabu aren't reliable main-eventers, we saw tonight that Punk's not at the level they want him at for a legit title shot, and there aren't any other up-to-snuff heels on the brand. Also, a very nice 2-minute promo by Heyman invoking the rematch clause. Had it gone one more minute and touched on Heyman apologizing to Big Show (since it was his drive to screw Van Dam and make the odds as low as possible for him to regain the title that put Big Show against those same odds to successfully retain) I would've picked it as a promo of the year candidate, but a solid, solid promo nonetheless.

I still say the VKM gimmick in TNA would have worked 1000x better had they put Kurt Angle in it. Seriously, have Angle outside an arena handing out Impact/Genesis flyers, then have Joe come up behind him and choke him out. You advertise your PPV/TV show to the fanbase you wouldn't mind stealing from the "competition" with a highly regarded worker they will instantly recognize, as well as putting over his feud with your top home-grown star and legitimizing him in their eyes ("Holy shit, that guy just choked out Kurt Angle!") EDIT: cabbageboy, the wellness policy "mandates" a 30-day suspension. RVD had to drop both belts.

    Wii

So, can you feasibly play the Wii while, say, sitting/lounging in a recliner? My room's cramped for space and I'd rather not spend $250 on a console that I can't use without redecorating.

ECW's next PPV 'December To Dismember'

Seems like it's a recurring theme these days. "WWE says you can _____ but if you do, you pay for it in other ways." Victoria wanting time off, Van Dam getting jobbed out early... I reiterate the statements I've made before: The wrestling fanbase is WIDE OPEN for the taking. First promotion to step up and consistently give the fanbase the segments they want to see wins. So far WWECW's getting slaughtered, RAW's a rehash of last week's episode more often than not, TNA's a clusterfuck and Smackdown's...just sort of there.
  16. Guess it depends on the definition of "acknowledgement"; picture shows him making the Road Dogg X-over-the-head to one side of the ring; if BG/Kip were on that side, they'd probably count it as acknowledgement. Then again, I don't think HHH would be backstage telling everybody how he was acknowledging them even if he did... We'll never really know, not that it matters much. However, I'd like to give kudos to the guys for actually going all-out with it. It would've been easy to hype it up, blah blah blah "bringing war to your front door" and then do nothing, but they've actually DONE something rather than sit there yapping about it, and I appreciate that. It's not the greatest angle in the world by any stretch of the imagination, but they've stepped up and made advances that they didn't have to make in attempts to further the storyline.
  17. The smart thing to do would be to have 3 guys they don't have anything for take up the fight in defense of McMahon against the Voodoo Kin Mafia. Considering how hardcore the TNA marks are, having WWE supporters in the six-sided ring is RIDICULOUS heel heat (I'm talking Muhammad Hassan heat, legitimately hating their guts and everything they stand for). Guys I'd suggest in this group: -Robert Roode, recreating the RVD 1997 Barely Legal promo (Success means more money here...and success means more money ELSEWHERE *hint, hint*) -LAX (in an alliance role; more of a "Hey, TNA's been sticking it to us since the day we joined up, they've discriminated against us, even stripped us of what's rightfully ours; why should we fight to support them? What've they done for us?" kind of thing) -Brother Runt ("I came to TNA with one thing in mind, and so far TNA management hasn't given me that opportunity to shine. TNA's held me back, and I'm not going to take it any more!". This also helps because you can have Team 3D v. LAX tag matches and still be working the VKM/WWE feud) -Somebody in the role Angle played during the InVasion storyline (traitor to TNA, joins the WWE supporters, only to turn at the last second and save his original team from certain defeat) You set up a BG/Kip v. TNA Traitors feud, culminating in a big-ass blowoff brawl at a heavily-hyped PPV where one of the TNA traitors turns back to TNA to give BG/Kip the numbers advantage and the win.
  18. That cliche is almost never actually true, and it certainly isn't true here. It would be one thing if TNA sent down a big star or a top-notch worker who can actually brag about having some sort of special quality or talent. Instead, they sent down a couple of WWE rejects who the best thing they can do with is recreate an angle that was last able to be effective over eight years ago. A fair point; but don't you (as TNA) have to send somebody that the WWE fan would recognize? If they have no knowledge of TNA and who they are, what good does sending down Samoa Joe if only a handful of fans know him from any other Samoan-looking fan who may be in attendance? Personally, I'd have sent Angle. WWE fans know Angle, he's a huge star, and if you go so far as to have Joe jump him outside the arena....you've got yourself some hype for Joe-Angle II among the WWE fans. Might not be much, but a buy's a buy.

They used a replica belt only for the very first show after RVD won it. Since then they've used a professionally made one. That thing's professionally made? Is it just because Show's so massive that it looks extremely thin and tiny, or is it legitimately smaller than the WHC and the WWE title?

It's really hard to date somebody that changes time zones on a near-weekly basis, hollywood slut or not.

    ECW 11-28-06

Maybe it's just me, but the thought of not turning Lashley and having Heyman become his supporter/agent is hilarious to me. Heyman sucking up and hyping Lashley, giving him all the breaks he can, and Lashley just stands there and is like "Meh, whatever.", not giving a shit in the least.

OAO Monday Night Raw Thread: 11/27/2006

But it doesn't really matter that 80% of the crowd doesn't know what OVW is; for one, the label had "Louisville, Kentucky" on it so there was a location available, and secondly the entire point is that DX just got rid of the Spirit Squad. It's the fact that they're gone that matters, not where they were going. The OVW bit was a nice touch (even though I don't get the OPS joke...if it even was a joke) and I admit to laughing when the delivery guy goes "Thank you very much, Mister....uh, McMahon!" after HBK signed for the package.
