I think Ryan joins up and maybe one other Scranton person (Stanley?). I think Michael is actually able to woo one or two loyal clients and DM panics and buys out his company and gives him his job back. I am thinking a lot of the Scott company growth happens in between seasons and when they come back next year, he is somewhat successful on a minor level and then the buyout happens.

What ended the Late 90's Pro Wrestling Boom?
Bigelow34 replied to Ed Wood Caulfield's topic in General Wrestling
I think the AOL/Time Warner merger was a huge blow. If Turner maintained control of his company, he would never have pulled the plug on WCW. Even if their product was waning, there would still be competition, a place for guys to go and the chances that one of the two promotions would rise up and fall into something like they did in the 90s are higher than they are with just one major company that can eschew and use up talent at will knowing that if they quit/leave there is nowhere prominent for them to go. -
I wouldn't say he is bad...just really lonley and insecure and is ignorant to the fallout of his obsession with being loved and accepted.

If you have Universal HD, ECW airs twice on Saturday nights, alternating with Raw. I believe they run from like 8-2.

I loved Striker's deadpan comment to The Grish when he said the only Spanish he knew was something about a burrito. Striker: "Condescending AND ignorant!" I was laughing for a few minutes over his delivery.

The chase and build up was weak but the brawl itself was actually pretty good, I thought.

Season Six was definitely my favorite. Every episode was tremendous and the Blacks were great, especially Leon! Joe Pepitone up in this mother fucker!
-
I read that filming started in December. I have no idea when they start airing though. I read Entourage should be back mid-year. Maybe Curb starts in September?
-
Yes! This should be awesome. Are the Blacks coming back? Or is that going to be forgotten and Cheryl is back?

The WM switch was definitely a rumor that started swirling. I remember it being reported on the local newspaper info line I would call for news. Sushi-X may have tossed it out there too. Seemed plausible the night after the Rumble with the Tyson/Austin throwdown. What does everyone think? Would that show have been as meaningful or important if they went the alternate route and Tyson was able to wrestle and take on Austin? Or did they get enough mainstream coverage with Tyson just being involved, allowing them to have a mega moment for Austin's first title win.

I think MITB will be pretty good if Kofi and Bourne are the last two in. Not sure where that leaves Kozlov, but he doesn't have to be on the show, right? He could win the pre-show battle royal.

I used to love watching Saturday Night as I either got ready to go out in high school or was settling in for a night at home. I definitely miss great WCW Saturday evening wrestling.

I used to read OO regularly but it got so negative and bitter that I finally just gave it up. The Rick started focusing in on this weir irrational hate of Randy Orton that permeated everything and I just tired of reading it. I can't believe the Cena stuff still goes on there too.

It was really sad watching Schiavone slowly deteriorate into a shell of himself by those last few years. Even on these 1997 Nitros, he is still pretty good despite the over hyping. But by 1999, his soul was ripped out and he just so horrible. I mean, I can't blame him but it is amazing that they totally ruined a really good PBP man with the nonsense they pumped out each week. Same goes for Heenan.

I record everything I don't have already and then watch it way later. It's rare that I actually watch much when it is airing. I just go through the tapes in order at night before I go to bed.

WWF stumbled a bit because they had to totally rewrite a month or so of TV. Russo said he had already written that far out. They had to totally rebook the Steph/Test stuff as well. That was WCW's chance to quickly strike, but they had damaged the brand so bad that they needed more time than that to do so. Russo was a band aid on a huge gash. They needed the time and support from Time Warner to rebuild the product.
-
The funniest part of it all was the WCW cheerleaders like Bob Ryder claiming Russo's ship jump to be the death knell for the WWF's hot streak. As soon as he jumped, tons of stories starting being written about how Russo was behind everything positive the WWF had done since 1997...even though clowns like him had been crapping on the Attitude Era the whole time. All of a sudden Russo was the savior though.

What was the dumbest head coach/manager decision in a game?
Bigelow34 replied to YourKock'sReallyGreat's topic in Sports
I love St. Joe, but he had a bunch of big ones in the final few years. I still don't get why he didn't pull the Yankees off the field or at least take Joba out during the mite game in Cleveland. It was clearly bothering him to be out there and Joe just sat stone faced on the bench. Bumping ARod to 7th in the 06 Detroit series made no sense either, but they were already dead in the water at that point anyway. That rain out totally turned the series around. -
I share a birthday with Sunny...that was an awesome thing to discover at age 16 in 1996.

I was at the Dunk and watching your team knock off the number one team is an amazing experience. Especially when your team doesn't win many big games. As long as they take care of business against Rutgers and finish with 10 wins in the Big East w/ wins over #15 Syracuse and #1 Pitt, I think they get in. They led wire to wire against Pitt tonight.

I got all of the IC ones with 4:43 left.

I think it would be great if Steph turned, joined Legacy at No Way Out. On Raw, they admit the Orton was banging Steph and she ensured he didn't get fired, all that. Then Orton punts her after winning the belt at WM and says he banged her to use her position to keep Legacy going on Raw, eliminate Vince and Shane and win the belt. It plays into Orton's character and draws us back to him nailing Kelly and never calling her back a month or so back. That takes the McMahons off TV for a bit, or if they wish, they can bring HHH over in the draft for revenge. I would prefer the latter, but there are a few possibilities from there.

Christian's Re-debut in WWE has occurred!

They were on the west coast, so it is probably being taped right now. -

Christian will win tonight and take the ECW title at WM. He will carry the show like Hardy did and then move up. There isn't a ton of room for him right now anyway. If went to Smackdown, everyone would cry that HHH will bury him and they are bloated up top too with Taker, Edge and the Hardys and Show and Kozlov lingering. If he goes to Raw, he is cockblocked by Legacy, Michaels and Cena. ECW, he can be the man for a while and then switch shows in the draft or later in the year.
