I would love to see the net reactions if it were Triple H or Mark Henry or whoever else the net fans hate with a passion these days. They would be screaming for termination and jail time.

Well, Rhode Island usually hosts a lot of national special olympic events, so there is a chance he really was one and maybe had won a prize or something. And I would have assumed thet Ahmed would be a tweener against Taker there and then turn heel after losing, but that is just a guess.

KOTR 97 changed so many times over the weeks. We started getting the local ads like 6 weeks before and the original line up was Taker vs. Ahmed and Shawn/Austin vs. Buldog/Owen. Then the tag got broken up and it Austin/Pillman, Legion of Doom vs. Owen & Bulldog and Bret/Shawn in the 10 minute challenge. Then Ahmed got changed to Faarooq and finally the week before, Austin/Michaels got added due to Bret's injury not being fully healed. I thought for sure Ahmed was winning the tournament.

Yeah, Jericho gets to make a ton of money facing off with a hot celebrity coming off an Oscar nominated movie and will probably only lose thanks to Ric Flair interference. All this while being all over the mainstream media for the next few months. I am sure he is weeping as we speak. I bet he would rather fight William Regal for the IC title. I am sure Bam Bam Bigelow felt the same way after being LT's bitch back in 1995. What happened to that push he was promised? Are you seriosuly comparing the two? Jericho is a much bigger name than Bigelow was at the time. Rourke is way more mainstream right now than a retired LT was. Wrestlemania is way bigger and more popular than it was in 1995. The payout in 2009 is guaranteed to be way bigger than it was in 1995. For what its worth WrestleMania got some serious coverage for its press conference and the event itself. I saw it everywhere from ESPN to Inside Edition to Entertainment Tonight to blurbs in Sport Illustrated. WrestleMania was perhaps the only mainstream thing the wrestling world had in 1995 worth a damn with the exception of the wwf name. Even Bischoff had to say Mania was still the biggest show in wrestling when wcw was #1 in ratings. That is true, but it is nowhere near the level it is now. They got a lot of ESPN coverage and other sports outlets but not much mainstream media shows that will cover this.

See now, everything worked out just fine. Legacy got their heat back, took Shane and Steph out with a gang assault and Orton is a madman again. Sometimes things just need to develop, ret-conning or not, the end result is what matters.

Why is it a plot hole? A title shot is a title shot, regardless of when it goes down.

It was last second. I went to the show and bought a program and remember being surprised to see it on the card.

That’s actually a pretty good way for a babyface to use the MITB shot without looking like a cheap opportunist (ie CM Punk’s win). I wouldn’t do it at WM but at another ppv though. Really though, anyone who uses it in an actual match instead of capitalizing on a worn down opponent kind of looks dumb. I guess RVD slides by because he knew he would have an awesome home field advantage, but who would use it on a match when they could just attack a beaten up champion like Edge and Punk have done. What about sportsmanship and the want to actual "Win" the world title? I can only imagine Ricky Steamboat pinning an already beat down opponent. I didn't say it wouldn't be valient. Just stupid.

I think the CNN stuff is just a slowing down of the angle, like was said above. In storyline, sometimes the celebrity backs off the initial match before committing. They did the same thing with LT at WM XI. Jericho will do something to prod him and then he will accept after the Oscars.

Is it possible that Orton could say he stood there and took the beating so he can claim he was assaulted by an owner of the company without retaliation or provocation, therefore further backing his case? He never really did try to fight back, just escape as Rhodes and DiBiase held him back.

TSM Wrestling Spotlight: The Big Show
Bigelow34 replied to Obi Chris Kenobi's topic in The WWE Folder
Which I find kind of funny considering so many people complain that Vince only pushes big guys strong and has them dominate the upper card, etc. When you really break it down, (relatively) smaller guys often end up on top of the heap. I liked Show's run from late 02-early 04. -
Saw it in a sold out theater and loved it. Only one old couple left during the Necro scene. I heard some gasps and the lady behind my thought Ram was going to slit his wrists when he was taping the blade early on. My wife said she was glad she knew some of the inside stuff as it helped her understand a lot of the little things. We both loved it. Great effort by Rourke and Tomei for sure. I echo the comments that it totally felt like a documentary and Ram seemed quite real. The first deli scene may have been my favorite part. Loved Ernest Miller as the Ayatollah as well. Great stuff.

I think it was mainly done to make Raw seem live instead of canned. He would dub in the commentary live as the show aired and toss some topical discussion.

Regarding a potential Owen/Shawn title flip that was mentioned earlier. I think that would have been cool to see Owen get a major title shot and win, but it definitely would have taken away from Austin taking the belt off Shawn. Shoehorning two major title changes in the two shows leading to WM would been a bit much, I think. Especially with an era changing win like Austin's was.
-
I am thinking Finlay gets the shot at WM and then Dreamer will face Swagger at ONS and finally win the big one or go out on his back...
-
WWE Magazine tipped that off too. It had a piece on the Chamber itself and there was a note on the side that said the chamber will be making its longest road trip ever from its storage unit in NJ to No Way Out in Seattle.

The 93 Rumble had a really hot crowd too, which helped it. But I agree with Aero, Perfect should have been in there towards the end to help add a little drama to the finish. They could have put him the Backlund record breaker role and had Lawler toss him late to really add heat to him and the angle.
-
Yeah he didn't really give a reason. One week Tennessee Lee showed up and brought him out as the greatest country star or whatever and that was that. His Aztec Warrior music was awesome...it is very similar to Beth Phoenix' I think.
-
I think I know what you are referencing but Warrior used to do that a lot in his promos. He would add in who he was speaking to in weird spots. "I, Sgt. Slaughter, will walk into the Royal Rumble"... Just a weird Warrior thing and it caught me off guard too. Unless I missed it and he really did screw up.

If Jimmy came out then Sim would have gotten a face reaction and it is clear they want him to be heel and maybe even hook up with The Legacy.

Haku actually stuck around for a bit as he was part of the WWF Mob that defended their territory against the Alliance later in the year. Rikishi's injury was what did them in as major players, I think.
-
I loved that team too and was pretty excited when Haku returned. They had good potential to be a bad ass team during a time when there weren't any. Rikishi's injury derailed the team and I have a feeling they would have had a tag match at Wrestlemania before Taker got slotted with Hunter. Unless Taker/Hunter was already penciled in before that injury, not sure.
