You completely ignore his writing, which is great. I loved Pure Drivel and Born Standing Up, and his pieces for the New Yorker are hilarious. His movies are hit and miss since then, but he does the movies to fund his art collection and to allow him to continue to write. I love Bowfinger though, that's a great movie. To be fair, I wasn't aware he had ever written anything so can't judge that either way. However, I love old Steve Martin movies, most of his stuff with Carl Reiner is pretty decent (The Jerk, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid). Besides, I was purely talking about the movies he has done since 91. I think Bowfinger might be the exception to the rule on the 'post 91 movies suck' assumption. Though that's only funny because it takes the piss out of Eddy Murphy and Steve Martin. As for Eddie Murphy - the less said the better. He's another victim of the 80s turning into the 90s. RIP Fred Savage and Judge Reinhold.

DLC and it's future in videogames
Obi Chris Kenobi replied to YourKock'sReallyGreat's topic in Video Games
This is what I'm against, but then there's nothing making you buy that type of DLC. If you see some DLC on the market place and its 500kb, chances are its a few string of coding that will unlock something on the disk. Konami are really bad for this (Soul Calibur, Ace Combat, etc). As long as you're educated to the games, you shouldn't have a problem. A game can be complete for around 4 months before it hits the stores. That's in extreme cases, most games are complete, or 'Gold' for a month or two. The delay after that is marketing, production and logistics. Who's to say that in those few months between the game being finished and the game hitting the stores, the developers haven't genuinly thought of a cool idea to release as DLC? Of course, I can understand the skepticism around it. The longest part of most games is developing/adapting a game engine. Once that's been done its the creation of the content, which should be pretty straight forward if you have decent coders and testers. The latest GTAIV DLC is a great example of what DLC content should be. Its almost a whole new game, only it piggy backs on the exsitant engine and coding of the main game. The only problem with this would be you'd be stuck with that games Engine and graphics for the rest of its life. What if the engine sucked and had so many flaws it wasn't possible to fix it? How long would they have to have the main game in production for it stand up to the test of time? After you've sank all your money into upgrading and downloading the various DLC, they turn their backs and go 'Hey, you know what, we're going to release a new SDvRaw with a new engine? DLC will only get bigger and more advanced, which is why 'next' next gen will have even bigger HDs. Credit to where its due, Sony thought a head when they shipped out the PS3 with the larger HDs. Even if it was just blind luck, they seem to be a head in the digital distribution stakes. Just a shame they've messed so many other things up. -
Steve Martin makes me so fucking mad now. Every movie after 1991 pisses over the memory of all the work he did in the 70s and 80s. Fuck Pink Panther and this imposter Steve Martin.

Guys Currently Being Groomed For Top Spots
Obi Chris Kenobi replied to The Niggardly King's topic in The WWE Folder
CM Punk I think CM Punk is going to end up being the 'Chris Jericho' of the future. He'll skirt in and around the Main Event scene, always be over with the fans and switch effortlessly between Heel and Face. However, I don't think he'll ever get a prolonged run with any of the main titles. He's got the natural charisma and can work a crowd, so he'll always be there or there abouts. I think the moment CM Punk can break out is if they give him a bit of 'freedom' with his gimmick and character (though this hasn't happened in WWE for years). Most of us are aware of his Indy work, and his 'Better then you' persona that he worked. If drugs weren't such a touchy subject in WWE, then I think it'd be a great gimmick to run with. They could always make it that he's simply a better wrestler then everyone else, but when he starts to lose the gimmick would seem a bit weaker. His merchandise will sell well as its not as camp as some of the wrestler merch out there, and will appeal to the emo kids. All of what I've wrote has already been written by AlaskanHero, and its a pretty common feeling amongst most people. MVP He'd be one of my favorites to get the push into the Main Event scene in 2009. Not sure how he'll work as a face, though it can't be argued he's a great natural heel. The only concerns I have for MVP is how would they re gimmick him? I can see him being MVP for life. Cody Rhodes At first I was totally underwhelmed by him. However, over the last 2 years he's developed into a great little heel character. The only thing is, I can see him getting over looked time after time due to his deceiving 'small' frame. I know its a taboo to mention wrestling size as the WWE doesn't tell anyone to get 'bigger'... but he does look a bit scrawny compared to those beef heads around him. Ted Dibiase Confident on the mic, though does look really bland and generic at the moment. If over the next 5 years can develop a character for himself, even if it is a carbon copy of his Father, I think he'll do well. He does have an air of 'success' about him. John Morrison IF he wasn't so woodern on the mic, he'd naturally be considered the obvious successor for Shawn Michaels. Great look, an amazing athelete, but sadly lacks the chance to cut a 'natural' sounding promo. Miz Miz will end up being the Christian/Matt Hardy of the two. He'll get a lot of time in ECW and a small fleeting glimpse at the Main Event. He'll be the Captain of the Upper Midcard scene, and probably work with the US Title (or its equivalent). It can't be denied, though, that he's worked hard and improved a lot since starting, so he has my respects for that. He also plays his role amazingly well, however, I think that'll work against him. He'll always be that type of character. I can't see him working as a face as he's naturally annoying. Jack Swagger Its already been mentioned that he's very similar to Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley. So, naturally, he's going to get the same push and treatment as them. This will be his rise and downfall. If WWE have learned from their experience with Bobby Lashley, they'll (hopefully) have realized that people won't give a shit about a wrestler no matter how hard they force you to try. Sadly, I don't think they will have. His ring work is OK, his Mic Skills are poor - average. He'll probably end up with a manager. Swagger will get thrust into the Main Event scene, no one will care, and he'll get heat due to people being sick of seeing him. WWE will think thats great (if he's a heel) and continue to push him. However, he won't cause any buys (unless there's a huge chance he's going to get his head kicked in). So with this pontentially being the third time to run the Brock Lesnar character, I wonder what unfinished storylines WWE have that they REALLY needed to show us. Christian Worked well in TNA as they were a smaller company without much 'Star' value. However, I think he'll get toned down in WWE and won't get pushed or allowed to be a 'Star' as much as he was in TNA. I think he'll be a constant chaser for a title, but will not break into a 'Go to Guy' within WWE. Shelton Benjamin Boat has come and go. Others: AJ Styles - He'd be in his late 30s in 5 years, so he'd be a 'late comer' to the WWE if he wasn't to sign soon. He's worked well in TNA since day one and has developed every year one way or another. The last few years, with the inclusion of Christian, he's really pushed his mic and charisma development. I doubt it'd happen, but I'd like to see him come to the WWE and team up with Christian again. Senshi - Destained to fail. I have no idea why, but I just can't see this one working out. I think he'll end up in development for an age, get jobbed out, bitch and then released. Kofi Kingston - They've got an untapped goldmine on their hands here. The crowd love the guy, he seems decent in the ring and I think he'll be able to work various gimmicks. Even Bourne - Natural succesor to Rey Mysterio. -

So odd. Perhaps his charisma didn't scale up from the Indies to 'WWE Standard' well enough. -

How Addias and a bit underwhelming. -
It plays like how I remember Street Fighter to play, but has added some extra cool moves for those who can chain combos. If you're prepared to get your arse handed to you, until you learn how to replay SF a little bit, then yeah its worth it. Medium difficulty is pretty hard at first, so I'd work your way up.

Main Title theme is fucking shite. Its like some very attractive in a way that I can't explain boy band song. The game doesn't mind being cheap as hell either with some of its characters. FUCK ABEL. Fucking French twats.

You'll never guess my secret identity
Obi Chris Kenobi replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in No Holds Barred
How's that proof you're not? Because you're both logged in at the same time?! OH NOES! You can have the site opened in Firefox (for example) on one log in, and opened in IE (for example) on another log in. They store their cookies and log in info in different folders, so it doesn't over right. -
Agreed. Watched it a few times to see if he was trying to sell it differently, but can't see it. Just seems to 'forget' and then flops down.

Getting this tomorrow - after what seems like a childhood and then some, I'm finally excited about a beat 'em up. Hope its good!

They count as both, but I recommend them to anyone who likes satire/dark humor and fantasy.

So, its just 'itunes' for E-books?

I'm open to suggestions, however, I'd like to request if someone does suggest the book, they link a few places we can buy it (on the cheap if possible). Skimming through the Book Recommendations thread - making it useful - here are a few suggestions: 2666 by Roberto Balano (recommended by: tonyjaymzretro) The Lazarus Project by Aleksandar Hemon (Recommened by Amazon)

The TSM Weight Loss Contest

194 Back down, but not by much. Saying that, my trousers are looser, so maybe I'm losing the spare tire, but gaining muscle mass back somewhere. -
No had Jade Goody (who looks close to death), and Patrick Swayze keeps dodging the bullet - the fucker!

These 'Superbowl' NFL Networkesque Wrestlemania videos make me chuckle.

Goodnight Jeff, thanks for coming.

Elaborate please? CM Punk was suppose to pin Big Show in the December to Dismember EC match, then go on to win the whole thing, or something.

That was a nice fall away slam by Koslov. I can't work out why, but I like him. He plays the role he's asked to play pretty well.

Any chance of Edge being the first one eliminated, throwing the whole thing 'open'?
