2007: Most disastrous year in WWE history?
Obi Chris Kenobi replied to Dobbs 3K's topic in The WWE Folder
Having missed out on WWE 02-05, I've started to catch up thanks to Torrent sites and tape trading, watched Jan-Feb03 recently and I thought Steiner/HHH was ok. Their feud was ok in terms of the Promos and Angles, but the matches sucked. The crowd were hugely behind Steiner until the RR Match haha -
Same as last years from what I've been led to believe.

So that's what he's suppose to be... I see! And yeah, I'll wait till I see it, but I'm a bit confused at them no selling Abyss being dragged under the ring by the creepy hand - even if Abyss did look down, adjust his leg accordingly, then acted like he didn't see anything.

2007: Most disastrous year in WWE history?

Actually, yeah, I stopped watching 2002/2003, so I'd say from an actual product stand point that was the worse year for me so far. -

It still is - I blame Goldberg. -
Hang on $50 for 12 months Xboxlive Sub? Things like that piss me off, that's almost 50% cheaper then in the UK.

Strangely enough in the T-Zone data for TEW07, WWE falls in size (from International - Cult), loses its TV deals, fires half the roster, and then loses the big names that think that WWE is too small for them. And here's me thinking the data was shite and inaccurate. -

Aries, or at least last time I saw him, and Kennedy both -

Kennedy was set to be part of the biggest angle of the year. One that was likely to lead into wrestlemania. Wrestlemania is seven months away, and Kennedy can still be plugged into the main event. Unforgiven is this Sunday, and I don't know who else WWE would have gone with after the hot angle they shot with Cena's father. Ultimate Vince Russo swerve tactic: Cena's Father turns heel and fights Cena Jr for the title, it was all a ploy you see, you know, letting himself get kicked in the face like that. Yeah, I'm aware how hypocritical that is after I was trying to defend Russo in a TNA thread -
I can't feel sorry for a man who quite clearly hasn't learned a thing over the years, and who still thinks it's 1997. Getting angry at the fans is missing the point, but for TNA it makes a great excuse to keep the blinders on. When your most diehard fans are rejecting something, it's the kind of thing that should send up red flags about what you're putting out, not be cause to raise the drawbridge and start lashing out. As for Russo's influence, just take a look at TNA since he came on board. His fingerprints are all over the product. That's true, but who's to say it isn't Dixie Carter - who wants something successful - making them come up with this crazy shit to compete with WWE and get viewers, thinking its what 'real' wrestling fans want - not the free leeching ones in the Impact Zone? Obviously, Russo is renowned for coming up with crazy shit, and like you said since he's came back TNA has went to shit, though its also gained Prime Time, and Kurt Angle and gained ideas above its station - a dangerous cocktail. Just without knowing how much input Russo actually has this time around its an easy way out to blame him for everything. Granted, he does come up with crazy shit. Like you said, if they're blaming Russo and all he does is suggest who should be in the opening match and has nothing to do with the bullshit, it's a pointless attack. Wouldn't Russo have himself on screen if he had a say on what was going on?
-
I'm actually starting to feel sorry for Russo getting all this heat for shit he probably hasn't done. I mean end of the day it's his job, it's what puts cash in his wallet. If he gets fired just cos a bunch of 'smart fans' chant 'FIRE RUSSO' whenever anything a little Sports Entertainment happens, then that's shit. Most reports coming out about TNA say Russo has had very little to do with TNA and its Dutch Mantel, Jarret & Dixie Carter. Carter being the boss and looking at what made WWE successful seems the likely choice for pushing the others to come up with 'whacky' ideas.

Drugs, Sex ROCK AND ROLL!....... then man boobs, STDs and then being found coked out of your mind in a hotel room, at a guess anyway.

YES PLEASE! Anything with Hydra is golden - I'm still holding out for Sharkboy v Hydra. Sandman v Hydra, what would that be - Hydra flexing his huge muscles infront of Sandman. Sandman looks at him like 'Who's this fool' then canes him?
-
I'll check at work, but it should be soon the coming soon covers arrived today - I'm guessing 28th Octoberish (PES comes out and Fifa will have been out a little while)
-
Is it not the stigma he now has in American Wrestling? People give him 'X-Pac' heat cos they think its cool, well, probably not everyone, but seriously the guy needs a break - though he did have sex with Chyna so yeah
-
Yeah, that's right they did, Slash and the other guy from The New Church were in it too. Just recently watched that PPV strangely.
-
OOH I think I'm the first to say it! Ooooh I have to, I can't resist, it needs to be said.... Sandman - TNA There we go, I think this thread is complete now. So, say if TNA did have brains - Paul Hayman - is Hayman still under WWE contract?- , The Sandman, Sabu and RVD are just floating around doing nothing, wouldn't this be an ideal time to bring them in for some cheap easy pops? Maybe divert some of the lost ECW fans their way, the TNA-UWA hardcore shows were pretty decent last year.
-
It's the Impact Zone, they'll chant whatever the internet tells them to. I heard TNA are going to start asking people if they own a PC, or known any who does own a PC, and if the answer is yes, you can't enter the Impact Zone incase... well, not really.

At a time where people are being suspended left right and center, and others are 'quitting' why would they go and sack someone like The Sandman? This is sad.
-
DDT! This was an ok Raw, but you can feel how thin they were for numbers due to the suspensions and injuries. They played me throughout the show regarding the Son though, I was gutted when it was HHH, then couldn't help but laugh at it being Hornswoggle just out of share relief it wasn't HHH. It probably will end up being Kennedy like.
-
Yeah same here, you've just reminded me about the 'Hall of Fame' thing, if its like Madden's it should be sweet.
-
I heard that they were tying GM Mode with Season mode, not sure how that'll work and haven't seen details about it.
-
Dustin Rhodes and his tame as shit pet rat is a quick entry into Wrestlecrap.
-
That's exactly how I felt, I just thought it had elements of Dues Ex, only without the RPG storyline. The Atmosphere and graphics were amazing though.
