Girl In Nude MySpace Pics Child Porn Arrest

The charges could force the teenager from New Jersey, US, to register as a sex offender, if convicted.

Her arrest came as prosecutors across America pursue child pornography cases over kids sending naked photographs to one another by mobile phone and emails.

Social networking website MySpace would not comment on the New Jersey investigation, but the company has a team that reviews its network for inappropriate images.

Police arrested the girl after a tip-off from America's National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.

Passaic County sheriff's spokesman Bill Maer said: "We consider this case a wake-up call to parents."

The girl posted the photos because "she wanted her boyfriend to see them," he said.

The teen was charged with possession of child pornography and distribution of child pornography.

She was released to her mother's custody.

If convicted of the distribution charge, she would be forced to register with the state as a sex offender under Megan's Law, said state Attorney-General Anne Milgram.

She also could face up to 17 years in jail, though such a stiff sentence is unlikely.

Some - including the New Jersey mother behind the creation of Megan's Law - criticised the trend of prosecuting teens who send racy text messages or post illicit photos of themselves.

Maureen Kanka's daughter Megan became the law's namesake after the seven-year-old was raped and killed in 1994 by a twice-convicted sex offender.

She said: "(The 14-year-old) should have an intervention and counselling, because the only person she exploited was herself."

This is all kinds of lolmaroflcopters as the kids on Myspace would say.

  2. Doesn't seem any different to other far right racist/radical created newszines to be fair. With it only being released within China too, how does that impose on other countries? If they were to litter those across the globe then maybe then they'd be a slight case for invoking underground unrest and uprising of the Asian Communities or whatever (and even that is far far fetched) but it won't. As its only targetted internally within China, so its not even propaganda that would affect other countries - or at least ones that can't read Chinese.

  3. I wouldn't say exporting goods was imposing yourself onto another country, since those goods have been contracted and then imported in knowingly by the companies within the country. China hasn't threatened to cut off oil/gas supplies to countries within the EU, it hasn't flown mock bombing raids on any major Super Power country.

  4. Well, I wasn't talking about it that way, but fair enough.

Russia was a Superpower for most of the modern era, then in the 90s the 'disappeared' and the country went backwards. What better way to regain their 'control' and 'status' then to triumph over smaller countries with their new and revamped military.

In terms of China wanting to be noticed, I'm not sure. The impression I get from China is a distancing from the rest of the world. They just want to do their own thing, and if people try and intervene then they'll show their teeth. They don't seemingly impose themselves like Russia has towards the other world's powers. Of course, China has imposed itself on those countries around it as well.

  5. Another MGS in the works

At his keynote speech at the Game Developers Conference today, Hideo Kojima as good as confirmed that another Metal Gear Solid game is in development.

Having taken us through all the design hurdles, or "missions" he's overcome in the history of the Metal Gear series, he concluded the talk by presenting the final mission: "The Next MGS."

He said he wanted to tackle this mission using a combination of Japanese and Western development philosophies. He described his approach, the typical Japanese approach, as being design-led, while he identified the recent trend in Western game development as being led by software technology, particularly the freedom of open-world games.

He invited developers in the audience to challenge his "old-style" approach by coming and talking to Kojima Productions, and perhaps working there. The studio's hiring at the show.

It doesn't quite amount to a formal announcement of a new Metal Gear Solid, and it was met with a muted reception at the keynote. Perhaps this was because the audience wasn't sure if Kojima was joking (it was a light-hearted talk), or perhaps because it's no great surprise.

Is this what we can expect to see from Kojima at this year's E3? We can't be sure.

No indication if its PS3 only or on the 360 too. But given how established the 360 is, and studios facing a the 'credit crunch' I can't see them holding back a multiformat release. The GDC has been pretty decent so far, I'd almost go to say its topped last year's E3 in terms of information.

  6. Call of Duty coming to XBLA/PSN

Activision is lining up the original Call of Duty for release on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, according to ESRB and PEGI ratings sites.

As spotted on Kotaku, the US board lists the original World War II shooter for PS3 and 360.

Activision Blizzard are really milking the COD franchise now. This'll keep people ticked over for the time being before Modern Warfare 2 is out. Then there'll be a 6 months cycle between COD game and Modern Warfare game being released.

  7. Aye, but its Call of Duty. They can try and rebrand it and deny it isn't, but it is.

Activision has confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 will launch worldwide on 10th November this year, and seems to have confirmed that it will no longer carry the "Call of Duty" name.

The press release establishing the date - following on from the GDC teaser trailer that originally announced it - studiously avoids referring to the game as "Call of Duty".

Activision representatives had not returned our request for comment on that yesterday, but a US rep told GameSpot: "Modern Warfare has taken on such a life of its own, it has become our focus now."

The release also said that Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - the first Infinity Ward game in what now appears to be a spin-off series - has sold more than 12 million units worldwide based on figures from NPD and GfK/Chart-Track.

If Modern Warfare is now its own series, the expectation is that Call of Duty will continue to play out in the hands of Infinity Ward's stablemate Treyarch, which developed last year's phenomenally successful and warmly received World at War.

Makes sense though, so we're not left with Call of Duty 7: Modern Warfare 3 and shit like that. Modern Warfare will survive as its own franchise as the first one was hugely popular, probably one of the most popular games released on Next Gen format so far (across both the PS3 and Xbox formats).

  8. They have already used that tactic against Ukraine, as I'm sure you know. I do think they would use that tactic against our allies in Eastern Europe to keep us from accomplishing any sort of goal there that would be more beneficial to the United States than it would be to them.

Would they do that to Western Europe though? Nope. Maybe reduce deliveries. Not stop them.

Can't speak for the rest of Europe, but the UK gets less then 25% of its gas from Russia. So if Russia was to cut its supply, we'd still be 'ok' - though probably face a price hike in home heating prices. I think Russia will only use this tactic against Western Europe, where they still fear Russia, in an attempt to make them come crawling back.

Is Russia regrowing its Army and Military Fist? More then likely. Over the last 5 years they've slowly become more promiment in the news for various things - Space Exploration, War, Public Shots of their Prime Minister guy, civil war, political unrest and upheaval. About 3 years ago they kept running fake 'bombing' runs towards the UK, prompting Norway and the RAF to send out Tornadoes to 'guide' the Russian Bombers back to Russian airspace. So I wouldn't be surprised if more political mind and war games happened.

Last year had the Canada v Russia comedy 'war' over the oil under the ice caps.

Russia want to be noticed again and with the way things are going it'll happen more and more.

  9. He's a defacto face due to the length of time he's been with the company, he's the Undertaker's 'Brother' and an alleged bad ass. He tries his best to get heel heat, but as soon as he's against someone who isn't as over as he is they cheer him. He was still getting half cheered during the Rey Feud, so I think he's stuck in limbo.
