  1. I want Jericho to turn heel too. I hated his face turn at the time, and I hate it now.
  2. It would work better than they did with Orton, but they still have the problem that Orton looks like a douche while Batista looks cool. I don't blame Orton, but wrestling fans probably won't take to him as a face at all. Orton would have to be the heel and HHH the face. I think Orton could be very successful as a heel, but he'll never get over huge as a face.

    The OAO AFC CHAMPIONSHIP THREAD!!!

Did Cowher win the game though? He settled for the FG, still lost by 3 major scores. I think the discussion is purely from this current standpoint and looking back and correcting what went wrong. Some people feel the FG/not going for the TD was a major reason the Steelers lost, and in hindsight wanted to change that one thing to make a more positive result. I agree with you alkeiper though, Pats were gonna win no matter what if they went for the TD or settled for the FG. The Patriots scored again afterwards. Even if they had scored the TD, would that have been any different? They would have lost the game anyways. But going for the FG kept them in it for the time being. At they gone for it and not gotten it, it would have been over. Ignore the fans. Look at last year in the divisional playoffs. Sherman lets his team talk him into going for it on 4th & 1, and they didn't get it. They kick the FG and they advance. Cowher made the right move at the time.

If he plays, he won't play any good, so it isn't an issue as far as I'm concerned. He'll be a decoy at best. Remember when Moss was injured earlier in the year and did jack shit when he played? Something like that.

    2004 Razzie Nominations

I get the feeling Catwoman is going to be taking home most of the awards given how hated it was for months prior to release.
  6. Well, HHH is definitely leaving with the title now.

    The OAO AFC CHAMPIONSHIP THREAD!!!

They had to go for a FG. A FG and a converted touchdown would tie the game then. You reduce it to two scores. If you go for it and don't make it, you lose the game right there. Cowher made the right decision.

Official Royal Rumble 05 Entrance List

Nope, and good thing too. I don't want another jobber like Maven in. It is bad enough we have to put up with Viscera.

And there is your Royal Rumble winner (Batista, not Viscera).

I would argue that they were, but that's besides the point. The real issue is that this years Pats team is much better than last years version which was already dominant.

Who gets the last spots in the Rumble?

They don't have any filler matches yet, so I expect Funaki to defend his title. And lose it. Didn't London qualify at a house show? At the Royal Rumble we only usually get about 4 or 5 other matches aside from the Rumble.

    Super Bowl XXXIX discussion thread

For the comparisons between Super Bowl XXXII and XXXIX. The thing about then, was that Denver had a better running game than Green Bay did. Terrell Davis was able to run up and down the field all day against the Packers, and that's why Denver won. A lot of it had to do with the Denver offensive line which kept the Green Bay defense in check all game. That's why they won. It had nothing to do with Denver being due or bullshit like that. They won because they matched up well against the Packers and they outplayed them. It won't happen here barring some sort of breakdown or serious injury on the Patriots. Every single unit on New England, save the secondary which is still very good and the punter, is better than their Philadelphia counterparts, including the coach. And the secondary is more than capable of taking on Philly's weakpoint which is their WRs. TO is not going to be an issue. He might get on the field as a decoy or something to say he played in the Super Bowl, but he isn't doing anything significant if he even gets cleared. Usually, you can say if the game goes this way Underdog Team A can beat Dominant Team B. If Oakland turned it into a shoot-out two years ago, they had a shot (ignore the oddsmakers, Tampa was clearly the better team heading into that game). But on paper, there is no way that Philadelphia can win this. It is like XXIX, where whatever San Deigo could do, San Fran could do better. Correction, there is one way the Eagles can win.

    PS2 Questions

My PS2 finally went kaput. I will try to get a temporary fix, but assuming that fails, I want to know which version of the PS2 I should try to buy, the original or the slimmed down model. In particular I would like one that is the least likely to break of the two. Can anybody help?

    Oscar predictions

You may be right. Regardless, I think the awards are going to be all over the map this year. Best picture will probably wind up with about 4 wins. No sweeps like in some past years.

It's just black people seeing it...[/kkk] Soul Plane, The Cookout, White Chicks, Are We There Yet?.... Any good "black" movies come out this year? Ray & Hotel Rwanda were good.

Who gets the last spots in the Rumble?

On Smackdown I see Funaki & The Bashams taking the final spots. Since they are champions and all.

    NFC Championship

Favre's dumbest play was the pass when he was 5 Yards across the line of scrimmage at the end of the half. That was truly dumb. The ints save possibly the final one, were all the fault of the WRs.

    Super Bowl XXXIX discussion thread

The reason the Pats are going to win is that there are no weak points on the team. They can run the ball, pass the ball, stop the run, stop the pass, have an underrated offensive line, can return kicks, don't turn the ball over, and have the best kicker and coaching staff in football. Even their punting unit is better than last year. You can't exploit anything with them, because there aren't any weaknesses to exploit, unlike every other team in football, including the Colts (no run D) & Steelers (rookie QB). When I am going through my head to figure out how Philly can win this game, I get stumped, because I can't find a way that doesn't include a complete meltdown by the Patriots players. If they come to play, the Pats are going to dominate. This is a much better team than even last year, and honestly, this year's Eagles probably wouldn't have beaten last year's Panthers.

Neither Shawn nor Kurt have ever had a match as good as Bret/Austin. They sure won't now.

    The Royal Rumble Legacy

Guys who stole the show. I never saw 88, so I will start with 1989. 89 - Mr. Perfect. He was bumping and teasing elimination the whole match. Honorable mentions to Shawn Michaels, who did much the same thing, and to the Brainbusters who just kick ass in general. 90 - Mr. Perfect. Ted Dibiase was great in the opening segments, and then he disappeared for the rest of tha match after Roberts got tossed. The way Perfect just played up the whole match, and the sleazy way he eliminated best friend Rick Rude was the most entertaining part of this for me. Too bad he didn't win. 91 - Rick Martel. It was Martel's show this year. He went down fighting even at the end. He certainly didn't pull a Backlund by hiding the whole match on his way to the record. 92 - Ric Flair. Duh. Although at the time I was cheering for Sid. I also loved Jake Roberts in this match, and time period in general. 93 - Mr. Perfect. Perfect was hugely over at the time, and Perfect/Flair was easily the most entertaining part of the match. He should have been the Iron Man this year, not Backlund. 94 - Shawn Michaels. I love how he causes Diesel to get tossed almost immediately upon his entering the ring, and he is such a cowardly chicken-shit the entire match that it is just fun to watch. I personally think this was his best Rumble performance. 95 - Shawn Michaels. Overshadows his better work a year earlier, but he still was the man in this weak Rumble. 96 - Vader. He came in and destroyed everybody. Got eliminated, and destroyed everybody again. Watching live, I couldn't believe that Shawn got eliminated by him, but of course it got reversed. This is how you get a new monster heel over. 97 - Steve Austin. Pretty piss-poor Rumble, dominated by one man. 98 - Mick Foley. How can you not love his coming out as all three personas? 99 - Nobody. Honestly, the whole thing annoyed me. Gillberg, I guess. At least he was somewhat entertaining. 00 - Road Dogg. Him hanging on the bottom rope for the whole match is some of the best work he's ever done. 01 - Kane. I was actually cheering for the big luck, and I normally hated Kane in this period. This match is what his career will most be remembered for. 02 - Christian. He and Chuck had a nice mini-match for the middle portion of the Rumble were both were constantly cheating, double-teaming any new entrants, and then backstabbing each other. Great stuff. 03 - Matt Hardy. Mentioned above. 04 - Chris Benoit. This Royal Rumble was all about the Crippler. Even moreso than Flair in 92, as Flair had more competition from guys like Savage, Hogan, Sid, Taker, Piper & Roberts. Show & Orton did well here too, but nobody comes close to Benoit.

    International Bush supporters

Germany fell apart on Hitler's removal too. Does that mean they should have left him in charge? Also, I am for the war in its intentions. I do not agree with the way it is being fought, cutting corners and showing a general lack of patience.
