NFC Divisional Game #1: The thread

It took awhile for Tom Brady to get recognition too. Vick gets so much hype because he is the most exciting offensive player in the league, and because he wins. Look at how well the Falcons do without him.

The OAO 2005 Golden Globe Awards Thread

I believe so. That was sort of a toss up. I guess this means Leo has a good chance for another Oscar, although I think Jamie Foxx will disagree. 'Another'?

    Conference Championship Prediction Thread

I don't like the idea of picking two road teams, but I have to go with New England & Atlanta. Philly feels the hurt this week without TO, and New England simply has less holes than Pittsburgh, plus they have Dillon for the rematch.

Robinson was huge as far as race relations go, and Ali tends to be remembered as much for what he did outside the ring than in it.

    NFC Vikings vs Eagles

I don't listen to the oddsmakers. The Rams were not anywhere near good enough that they should have been 17 point favourites and then huge favourites over New England. They also had Oakland as strong favourites over Tampa Bay, and that was the most predictable Super Bowl since Denver/Atlanta. No way was Tampa losing that game the way that their defense was playing.

That doesn't mean he sucks at them. That just means he's not the greatest. "Sucks" is reserved for guys like Bushwhacker Luke in 91, Mo in 95, Warlord in 89 and such. By sucks, I mean he is like the Eagles. He can see the promised land, but he can't take care of the final order of business to get there. He is always in the Final 2 or 3 and then gets eliminated, often because of a mistake he made and managed to eliminate himself. He chokes in other words.

2001 too. The Rams were ripe for the pickings that year. The Eagles lost that game more than the Rams won it.

La Resistance win tag titles at house show

This was just because of injuries. So was the last one when Booker had to lose the IC Title due to his bad back. It is hardly a change in the way they do booking.

I don't know if I would consider it a choke. Carolina was clearly the better team at that point. Usually a choke is when you lose to a team inferior to yours.

Official Royal Rumble 05 Entrance List

Kurt sucks at battle royals. He was 2nd in 2002, 3rd in 2004, 2nd in the Smackdown Rumble, and 2nd in the one last spring which Rey won.

    Discovery's 100 Greatest Americans

That's not just shady, that's "in danger of failing a citizenship test." Thomas Jefferson was one of the Founding Fathers, who wrote the Declaration of Independence and was the third president. (Also fathered a whole lotta bastard children with his slave) Jefferson Davis was the president of the Confederacy. Poor Stupid Canuck ... You think any major United States president will get the shaft in the top 100, and why? Grant might. His presidency wasn't the greatest, but he it wasn't like he himself was corrupt and his influence in the Civil War should get him on the list. Lee & Sherman should be on it too for that matter. Especially Sherman. His idea that war was fought between homefronts as much as the armies was one that would be very important later . Sherman was probably the best general in the entire war, but because his strategies were considered 'unethical' he spawned a lot of hatred towards him.

Rebook King of the Ring 1995

    1. Owen Hart (d. British Bulldog) vs. Lex Luger (d. Mabel) I am running won-it-last-year angle for Owen, much like Angle in 2001. Luger is here as he is still one of the biggest names in the company at this point. Owen wins with the Tennis Racket after 9:35. 2. Jeff Jarrett (d. Bob Holly) vs. Shawn Michaels (d. Kama) This serves as a set-up for Jarrett/HBK the next month and provides for an interesting first round match. Jarrett cheats to win at 10:40, but the ref catches him and he is DQd, allowing Shawn to advance. 3. Bam Bam Bigelow (d. IRS) vs. Tatanka (d. 123 Kid) This was done on the real PPV, but as part of the tag match. BBB deserves a push after Mania and feuding him with the Corporation makes sense. Bigelow wins with the diving headbutt in 6:10. 4. Yokozuna (d. Undertaker) gets a BYE due to an injury to Razor Ramon (d. Hunter Hearst Helmsley) 5. Bret Hart vs. Hakushi. The rematch from the first In Your House. This time Hart wins for good at 12:05, and will move on to face Diesel at Summerslam where he will win the title. Bret needs a win in the biggest way. 6. Owen Hart vs. Shawn Michaels. Like Bret/Perfect in 93, I think this tournament needs one potentially classic match. Shawn wins clean with a moonsault in 19:19. 7. Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Yokozuna. The rest is the difference. Yoko wins in 5:60. 8. The Undertaker vs. Kama. This feud started prior to Wrestlemania, both cost each other their qualifying matches, and this is the blowoff and set-up for Taker's next feud. Kama loses clean to the Tombstone in 10:15, but Sid runs out and destroys Taker afterwards. 9. WWF Championship (No DQ): Diesel vs. Sid The blowoff to this feud. Taker makes his big return 15 minutes later to distract Sid long enough to fall pray to the Big Boot of Diesel to retain in 15:40. Sid & Taker brawl afterwards. Diesel was bombing as champ by this point so I'm not too interested in pleasing him. 10. KING OF THE RING FINALS: Shawn Michaels vs. Yokozuna Yoko had the bye, while Shawn has wrestled for 30 minutes. The tournament should be the selling point of the PPV, and thus the finals gets this slot. Michaels gets pummelled but wins clean with the superkick in 11:30 to win the tournament and send the crowd home happy. I know it is the same story as 1993, but the formula works. My main goals with this show... 1) Put over Shawn Michaels. He's rapidly becoming the biggest star in the company and I want to start prepping him for the big title win at Wrestlemania. 2) Build towards the HBK/Jarrett IC Title match for July. 3) Build towards Sid/Taker at Summerslam. 4) Build towards Diesel/Bret at Summerslam where Bret takes the title. 5) Keep Owen Hart & Yokozuna as credible threats in an era where the heels are lacking. 6) Continue Bigelow/Corporation feud and keep Bigelow fairly strong. 7) Deal with the Razor Ramon injury. 8) Have one potential classic match in an era where they can be hard to come by. I believe I have accomplished most of that.

Randy doesn't like the idea of playoffs because then he has to play more games.

His head wasn't in the game. He didn't do it on purpose, but it was still his fault.

Let's settle this, once and for all.

    I don't see a problem with it.

    NFC Vikings vs Eagles

When you are rested, usually you can come out like gangbusters, but you can't sustain it. Your stamina isn't there, and mentally you aren't prepared to play/work every day/week.

2016 Olympics go to a City in Africa?

What about Egypt? Not a chance. The security costs alone would be too much for the Egyptian government to handle.

2016 Olympics go to a City in Africa?

South Africa is the only nation on the continent that can even come close to being able to host the Games.

    NFC Vikings vs Eagles

After Moss made that mistake that cost the Vikings a TD, they would be insane not to try and trade him in the off-season. Players like Joe Horn or Terell Owens are every bit the asshole, but they don't let their attitude affect their performance.

    DAREDEVIL: The Director's Cut

First of all, this movie was the original film. The reason scenes like the sex scene and the confessionals are not in it, because they went back and filmed those scenes after this cut of the film was finished. The theatrical version is the newer one. The original idea was for Matt to appear more alone than he did the in the theatrical. Elektra is supposed to be dead, but the studio didn't like the idea that the girl got killed and the bad guys survived. This is also why Bullseye's final scene was moved to the credits in the theatrical cut. They also wanted the director not to show Elektra's body when the cops showed up on the roof but he refused. She dies.

    The Royal Rumble Thread

1.) Favorite world title match at the PPV? Royal Rumble 1992. If that doesn't count, then Angle/Benoit. 2.) Favorite Rumble match? 1992. A number of guys who could logically win it, especially at the end, numerous big storylines in the match (Flair's run, Hogan/Taker, Savage/Roberts, Sid heel turn, Piper's two shots in one night), plus golden commentary. 3.) Favorite Rumble match elimination? Mr. Perfect eliminates Ric Flair in 1993. I was marking out huge at this. I was a huge Hennig fan in the early 90s. 4.) Favorite mini-match within the Rumble? Ted Dibiase & Randy Savage vs. Jake Roberts & Roddy Piper from 1990. Possibly the four most over people in the company aside from Hogan & Warrior, three of them were great workers and Piper always fit in well with the Rumble style. 5.) Favorite non-world title, non-Rumble match? Quebecers/Harts from 1994. 6.) Favorite pre-Rumble promo? Heenan's Family in 1989. More intrique was raised in 30 seconds than most modern wrestlers can do in 30 minutes. 7.) Things you hated besides Vince winning the '99 Rumble? From the PPV, Taker/Yoko from 1994. Pure wrestlecrap. From the Rumble match, the numerous times in 1999 where either nobody or one wrestler was left in the ring leaving for gaps where nothing happened at all (this happened at least three times, with Droz, Road Dogg & Shamrock). No excuse for that, just sloppy booking.
