Shawn Michaels & Bret Hart had plenty of bad matches in the mid 90s, including some against each other. Both were lazy as shit when it wasn't a big match situation.
-
Yeah, it could have happened, assuming the whole thing isn't just an urban legend. I'm just saying that I don't recall there being any evidence whatsoever aside from Cobb's word.
-
The play is still live if the player isn't touched down by an opposing player. Had he held on to the ball, he could have gotten up and started running again. This was the least interesting game heading into the weekend, so I didn't expect much.
-
Cobb apparently claimed on his deathbed that he pistol-whipped a mugger to death. I don't think its ever been proven. With his personality it could have very well been BS.

cheating on your wife. He didn't get impeached for cheating on his wife, he got impeached for lying about it under oath.

For sports figures I would think Jackie Robinson would be a lock for that list.

I think they ranked about 14th, which to me isn't great, but was much better than their 32nd ranked defense last year.

It's not really the lack of quality wrestling
Kahran Ramsus replied to NoCalMike's topic in The WWE Folder
Good matches are important, and quality certainly isn't what it was two years ago when we had the Smackdown Six, Brock Lesnar, Matt Hardy & Team Angle being pushed heavily, but you are correct in saying that it is not the biggest problem. I love the 80s WWF because of great characters and payoffs, not because everyone was Chris Benoit. It isn't necessarily the lack of surprises that is the problem, although a lack of unpredictability certainly is. The writers due a absolutely dreadful job of making competitors look equal or at the very least making it look like either guy can win even if one wrestler is favoured over the other. For some reason they love giving away the results of major PPV matches the week before the show, most recently with Randy Orton going over HHH clean on RAW before New Year's Revolution. Even the densest mark, and I know a few of them, could figure out immediately after that happened that HHH was walking out with the title on Sunday. The whole point of a 6-Man match is the anything can happen vibe, and they destroyed it. Likewise, if we have JR screaming 8 times a minute that Eugene doesn't stand a chance against Christian, it ruins the impact that his eventual win should have. Nobody cares about Eugene because the announcers are telling us he's crap, and Christian looks like a bigger joke for having lost to the guy. Contrast that to 15 years ago where Gorilla/Monsoon knew Hercules didn't stand much of a chance against Earthquake, but given the right circumstances and if Hercules wrestles a smart match, an upset could happen. Even the better Tazz/Cole duel has this problem, leading one to suspect that Vince is telling them to behave this way. It isn't surprises that is lacking, we don't need Austin running in on the main event or anything like that, it is the lack of feeling that anybody can win. Nobody is going to order a show that they know the outcome of, especially if it is an outcome they won't like. -
Ward would be top 5 if Maddox was back at QB, but Big Ben doesn't throw to him enough. Plus Pittsburgh is crazy about the run right now.

I hope you are right, but I am not exactly optimistic.

Delgado was initially a catcher, then switched to left field and eventually to first base.

1) WWE Championship: Diesel vs. Shawn Michaels This was the main feud at the time, and Shawn was good enough to get good matches out of Nash at this point. 2) WWE IC Championship: Jeff Jarrett vs. Bret Hart Jarrett was my favourite wrestler at this point, and Bret Hart was #2 face. Jarrett wins after interference from Owen Hart. 3) Razor Ramon vs. Owen Hart Best upper-midcard face vs. best upper-midcard heel. 4) WWE Tag Team Championship: The Smoking Gunns vs. 123 Kid & Bob Holly They fought on RAW in a match that I can't remember, but Kid & Holly were pretty good as a team, and this should be better than most of the dreck that you got out of the tag division at the time. 5) Davey Boy Smith vs. Bob Backlund Davey Boy is fresh off his good showing at the Rumble, and since Bret is busy is makes sense to put Backlund against his closest ally. 6) Lex Luger vs. Bam Bam Bigelow Luger comes to the defense of his good friend LT, and jobs clean to Bigelow to build him up. Bigelow is the best Corporation member so might as well push him. 7) The Undertaker vs. Sid Taker's feud with the Corporation sucks, so stick him in with Sid. The match will be just as bad, but at least Sid is cool and a nice Double DQ brawl here could get the crowd into the show early. 8) The Headshrinkers (Fatu & Sionne) vs. The Heavenly Bodies No real reason, other than the fact that I liked the Bodies and would put them over here.

Vikings don't want Joe Buck to announce the game

I like the CBS crew, but FOX draws me in with its fancy colours. That and I generally care more about the NFC. Michaels & Madden can't be beat. -

Eh...its still better than the ESPN crew. -
Million Dollar Baby is going to win. Especially since Eastwood lost last year.

Also, they did fix it for the second Death Star. The Rebels were only able to destroy it because the station wasn't finished yet.

Curt Schilling is going to be in the Amazing Race?
-
I think he is a better worked, but Batista is far more charismatic. That's the problem. Of course, you could have said the same thing in 1986. Who should the WWF have pushed as champion? Hulk Hogan or Dynamite Kid? And Orton is no DK.

Divisional Playoffs Prediction Thread
Kahran Ramsus replied to therealworldschampion's topic in Sports
Why I think the Eagles will win... 1) There has been so much talk about how they will be rusty that they will make sure that they won't be for this game. It will be the NFC Championship where the layoff will come into play. Just like when you come back from a lengthy vacation and go back to work. The first day back is easy. It is the second day that's difficult. 2) Moss is not healthy and Philly's secondary is much better than Green Bay's. 3) Philly might not know how well they will do without TO, but Minnesota won't either. I have more faith in the Philadelphia offense than I do the Minnesota defense. Let's be honest. If Minnesota wins this game, it is 100% going to be on the back of Daunte Culpepper. He has to be dominant. Much like Manning against the Pats. -
Good question. I never even watched football before 1993. Green Bay has never had a season below .500 since I started watching, although they certainly weren't among the elite when I first started like they were from 1995-1997. I became a fan of them because I admired the idea of them being owned by the community, rather than some faceless corporation or some jackass you can't stand (see Jerry Jones).

My sister is a big Pats fan, so I tend to cheer for them when the Packers are gone. She is far from a bandwagon fan though. She started liking them DURING the Caroll era because they stunk so much and she wanted to support a team that had the potential to go from last to first within the next few years. She was right. On another note, I had picked them to win the AFC East in 2000, the year before they actually did get good then picked them for last when they won the Super Bowl. I'm still bitter over that.

The Edge thing came out soon after the match. I have definitely heard of it, but I certainly don't believe that it was ever more than a passing suggestion.
-
Well, I expect a top ten draft pick next year.

Are you a pilgrim in an unholy land?

I'm a conservative (social liberal, but I consider that less important than economic and foreign policy) living in Ottawa which is a left-wing city, but a lot more understanding than Toronto. I never had a problem with people giving me shit over my views. We'll have debates but we tend to respect the opinions of others. When I was living in the Toronto area, if you said 'Mike Harris' without following it up with 'sucks', expect to get beaten up. My actual home riding of Clarington-Scugog-Uxbridge has a population pretty consistant with my views. They are a swing district, not latching on to a particular party, although right now both MP Bev Oda and MPP John O'Toole are conservatives.
