I suggest you go check out that thread by chaosrage in Old School where he and I go back forth forever with me backing up with buyrates and ratings (Shawn killed the ratings after Bret Hart's brief revival in the Winter, his D-Generation X & Armageddon 2002 PPVs built completely around him failed miserably, the RAW ratings post-Attitude reached their lowest point in his 2002 title reign), while he made claims like Shawn drew better than Austin. Look, I understand that you like Shawn, but he is not a draw. Hey, there are guys I like that aren't draws either. Eddy Guerrero is rapidly heading into that territory, although given the state of Smackdown there isn't much option.

From my vantage point, Duceppe was the clear winner here. Martin avoided so many questions that it looked like he was getting ready for the release of Dodgeball, Harper seemed to struggle with the language, and Layton is just nuts.

Watch nearly every show since WrestleMania and tell me he's more over than half of RAW's roster. He's more over than anyone on the RAW roster besides HHH & Eugene. And Eugene is not a World Title candidate. Therefore Benoit is the top face on the roster. BTW, why is everyone on Benoit when a couple of weeks ago they wanted Christian of all people made into a top contender.

Plus, Shawn has never shown an ability to draw so why would anyone think that could change now? He also isn't any more over than Benoit right at the moment. He had a pretty mild reaction at Badd Blood to say the least. HHH is more over than he is. Jericho is too damaged right now. If you start now, you could get him up there by Survivor Series time probably. HHH is the alternative and make no mistake, he will be the one to take the title. But the audience needs a breather. If HHH wins all the time, nobody will pay to watch it because they won't think the opponent stands a chance. He is a good champ, but he can't be champ all the time. Edge's return is flopping badly, so he's gone. That leaves Shelton Benjamin as the only other option. But first you have to remember he was still in a tag team when Benoit won the belt, and that he's basically a lesser version of Benoit at this point in terms of character. If you have a choice of two similar wrestlers, at least pick the better one.

He's had his "15 minutes of fame" so it's time to drop the belt and stay in the upper-midcard or main event area. He just isn't a drawing champion when people like Eugene are stealing the show now. KJ Look at the ratings. The weeks when Benoit is in the main event or a high-profile match have a strong tendency to be higher than those where he isn't, including the heavily hyped super-RAW featuring Jericho/Christian and Eugene's first match.

But is he a better draw? Doubtful. Being over doesn't necessarily mean that people will pay to see you. There were several over champs in WWF history that ended up drawing squat (Warrior, Diesel, Michaels). Benoit is better than all of them. Nobody is confusing Benoit with Rock or Austin, but on RAW, only HHH has a better history than he does and quite frankly the audience demanded a break from him. Benoit is the only choice right now. Jericho had his shot and through bad booking or whatever, it didn't work. Shawn has had several shots and blown it every time. Kane's a heel. Eugene is over in the same way Rikishi was over in 2000. The character has a short shelf life. Benoit is the best option with the strongest fanbase.

What does that mean?!? Eugene has the same attributes as Benoit, so are you saying that Eugene should be the next World Champion? I think not. The fuckin crowd cheers for any finisher, which is why he gets pop's at the end of his matches, so don't base his popularity on that...... THANKS~! KJ He's drawing better than Shawn Michaels ever did as champ.

What exactly is wrong with Benoit's reign exactly? His is the best title run since the creation of the belt in August 2002. Watch Wrestlemania again and tell me he's not over.

That's what I said. But in the NHL, which this thread is about, except for a few select markets, spending well exceeds revenue. That's where the problem is.

Too much isn't X Millions of Dollars. Too much is more than you bring in. The NHL is in big trouble financially. The owners should be able to police themselves, but they are too greedy. The unions are too greedy too. Thus, competitive balance is thrown out of whack, work stoppages become frequent occurences and the fanbase is driven away. The fans are everything. Without them, the foundation for both the owners and players collapses. I have complained about MLB alot, but their problem is miniscule compared to the NHL right now. The league cannot survive as is, and the league cannot survive a work stoppage. The only option is for the players to give in. Otherwise the league will fold and they will be out of work.

Is anybody else watching the French Debate tonight?

Because people just aren't that interested in seeing him anymore, at least as a face. It is hard to cheer for the guy.

I like the 92 Jays better actually. I know Olerud had a stronger year in 93, but the staff in 92 (Jack Morris, David Cone, Juan Guzman, Jimmy Key & David Wells) was better than the 93 version (Guzman, Dave Stewart, Pat Hentgen, Al Leiter & a Jack Morris that fell off the face of the earth). The 92 Braves were also a better team than the 93 Phillies. I am also curious where you would place the 84 Tigers.

Brock/Taker did its job, which was to put Brock over as a huge threat. This last one was no better than average, but if it is the end of HHH/HBK then I can see its purpose. HHH/Jericho, HHH/Nash & Taker/Bossman are the ones that really bug me, because there was absolutely no reason for them to be HIAC in the first place. At least the 6-Man was used to put Kurt over and as a storyline device to get Foley fired.

It isn't that easy. You would be left with a whole lot of people that don't want to be a part of the new country. BTW, if the voters keep voting 'no', why don't the seperatists just take the hint and give it up?

Shawn Michaels is not that popular in the northeast and Great Lakes region. It is probably a large part of the reason (if not THE reason) that he is a lousy draw.

They are also better than him. Well, at least Show & Train are. The jury is still out on Kane/Mordecai.

My problem with this card is that it just seems too predictable. It isn't bad (unlike Judgment Day), just boring.

The Stanley Cup shouldn't be decided when it is 30 degrees out (Celcius). The big problem with the NHL (as opposed to say Olympic Hockey, which is much better) is that they emphasize goons and fighting over scoring. Clean hockey is good hockey.

Its too late to fix that now. Any bad blood will still be there in a month, and if they do push him he will take it as they are only pushing him to get him to resign and will drop him down the card as soon as he does.

Speaking of which, Tatanka vs. Lex Luger at KOTR 93 is pretty much the same way, although at least there they managed to pick it up for the last couple of minutes. Roberts/Rude was just a snoozer the whole way through. I hate that match.
