The problem isn't with the angle. The problem is that nobody takes Kane seriously anymore. If this was the Kane from last summer, this would be a huge match.

Yeah, it'll probably win the GameFAQs poll...

Red XIII talks throughout the entire game. Where were you? -
In the First World War this is true. The US entering the war gave the Allies a manpower boost that enabled them to win more quickly, but the Germans were beat by that point. In World War 2, the tide didn't turn in the east until 1943. Also, having Stalin in Paris wouldn't be much better than having Hitler. At the very least, the US was absolutely necessary in taking down the Japanese.

I think Aaron Burr could take Teddy.

Unless it has been changed, it never used to be in Canada. It is assisting in helping someone commit suicide or counseling someone to commit suicide that are illegal.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Breaks...
Kahran Ramsus replied to a topic in Television & Film
It was #1, by quite a large margin if I remember correctly. I will often use this when discussing what old movies grossed, because by just measuring box office earnings are not accurate at all. I like the way video games companies do it much better. Going by units sold as opposed to amount made. -
That is good explanation, but they couldn't have stopped them even if they wanted to because of the magic protecting them. It is possible that they did use it in Order of the Phoenix to save Dumbledore's Army from the Death Eaters and just never mentioned it.

With AICN they give their opinions first and then the spoilers, so you can just stop reading at that point. I hate reviews that give them out without warning. Doc Ock is my favourite Spider-Man character, so I am looking forward to this one moreso than the first. I loved the first upon initial viewing but it doesn't hold up today, especially the fights which are really lame for a film of that magnitude.

Suicide isn't illegal, although I do consider it morally wrong, if they want to kill themselves, it is their own choice. Just don't drag other people into it.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Breaks...

Not that profanity means much in England anyways. They are about the biggest pottymouths that you will find. There is some profanity in the books and films, but nothing major. Just light stuff that you will find anywhere (bitch, hell, damn, ass), but it is still technically swearing. Ron tells Draco to go fuck himself at one point too, but it is merely heavily implied. The statement itself didn't make it to print. -

AndrewTS sums up my thoughts about the ending pretty well, but I thought I would just point out this. It is quite clear that the laughter is from Red XIII's kids that you see in the ending, looking out at Midgar. -
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Breaks...

Worldwide, as in total box office, as in what is really important. Domestic box office by itself is relatively meaningless. The media might care about it, but the studios don't. The top ten of all time... 1. Titanic $1,835,300,000 2. Lord of the Rings: Return of the King $1,129,219,252 3. Harry Potter & The Philosopher's Stone $968,600,000 4. Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace $922,379,000 5. Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers $921,600,000 6. Jurassic Park $919,700,000 7. Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets $866,300,000 8. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring $860,700,000 9. Finding Nemo $853,200,000 10. Independence Day $811,200,000 Credit: imdb.com -

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Breaks...
Kahran Ramsus replied to a topic in Television & Film
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is the third highest grossing film of all time. Columbus has nothing to be ashamed of. This one had the advantage of being based off of a better book, and being released in the summer. -
It plays a big part in Order of the Phoenix, so I guess they just didn't want to get redundant.
-
PoA made over $40 million on Friday according to boxofficemojo. If this keeps up it will be the highest grossing movie of the year. Spider-Man, the only remaining film this year that can beat it domestically, doesn't have the worldwide appeal that Harry Potter does. It had to make up the difference in the US, and it looks like that may be out of reach. It is too early to crown it as champion at this point, but I would start making parade preparations.

More of a collective thing really, but that was the one where I first noticed him.

Right now in my riding in southen ontario, east of Toronto, the Conservatives are polling at 41%, NDP 25%, Liberals 23%, and the minor parties at a combined 10%. We have gone Liberal in the last three federal elections, but re-elected the popular Tory MPP John O'Toole in October.

And how in the fuck the Second World war is a "good" war is beyond me? No war is good. Just some are necessary.
-
Agreed, but even a simple line like "we can only go back once" or "we only can go back so-and-so hours" would have really helped. I will say that I loved the special effects. They were very well done. Nobody knew where the Potters were except for their secret keeper (Pettigrew). He betrayed them and led Voldemort to them. Not even Dumbledore knew about it, and even if they had known where to look, they couldn't have found it without Pettigrew. They were protected by magic. It takes them a day or so to even find Harry. In the book he knows. That's just the way Dumbledore acts.

It wasn't this thread or even this folder that got him banned. He has been trolling around in some of the others, specifically the movie folder. What he said here was fine.

I saw it tonight in a packed theatre. Busiest its been since Return of the King. Finally after two good, not great summer flicks (Troy & Shrek 2) and two sins against film (Van Helsing & The Day After Tomorrow), we get the first great film of the summer. Classic stuff.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban review
Kahran Ramsus replied to Dr. Tom's topic in Television & Film
Although Cuaron is certainly a better director than Columbus, it isn't just his influence. The source material is much the same way, taking a darker and more character driven turn in the Prisoner of Azkaban. If you think this is dark, wait until the next two. -
For Ottawa it goes hockey, football, basketball, soccer, tennis, rugby, then baseball bringing up the rear. Personally, I like baseball the best, then football, although I definitely prefer the NFL to MLB. In terms of the teams, it is the Senators & 67s, then no other team is even close.

Ebert didn't like it as much as the first two, although he still gave it ***1/2, but from the way he described it, it sounds like I will end up enjoying it more. The big reason that people like Ebert isn't that his opinions are always right, but that you usually can figure out whether a film is for your liking or not from the body of his reviews. I'll be seeing it tonight.
