I used to think that the Cubbies were the favourites, but that's before they lost Prior. Houston has to be considered the favourites now, they weren't that far behind to begin with. I think you're biggest problem is the switch between the As and Angels. I really don't see Oakland getting enough support from their lineup this year. You also have more faith in the Braves than I do. Other than that you seem pretty much right on your analysis, although I disagree with some of the outcomes. For example, we both have similar opinions of the Yankees, but I am firmly on the other side of the fence. I can't see them resisting the injuries over a full year like you can. They've already lost Lieber and Giambi is having knee problems just two games into the year. Of course, Boston is also having problems with Garciaparra & Nixon being out for a month so who knows. Well, we're off to a good start. Toronto isn't as talented as either New York or Boston, but they sure seem to be healthier. Their lineup is great, they were second behind Boston last year in runs scored and only Greg Myers really overachieved. There is lots of room for improvement, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Jays get to home more than any other team this year. Pitching is weaker than the Yanks or Red Sox, but is at least better than last year. Ultimately it is going to come down to whether the Yankees or Sox can stay healthy, and two games into the year, they haven't. So who knows, I'll remain optimistic. We'll know in April if they have a chance with two series against the Normar-less Red Sox. If they can manage to win those series (or even split), things are really looking good.

What about Flair & Bischoff in 1998?

Any truth to the rumours about this lefty glitch? I do have trouble hitting homers with Eric Hinske (2 HRs as of May 12th), Frank Cattalanato (2 HRs), and Orlando Hudson (0 HRs, from either side), but their power stats really suck in the game. But Delgado knocks them out of the park all of the time (19 HRs, leading MLB) and Greg Myers is doing okay too (6 HRs in a platoon role). I haven't exactly lit up the fences with rightys like Chris Woodward or Dave Berg either. Are these rumours true? I have the Gamecube version.

I agree with the Iverson supporters here. He may be an asshole personally, but I don't really care. He plays hard all of the time in game situations. I find nothing wrong with him. Players like Randy Moss is what is wrong with professional sports. All the talent in the world and he only tries half the time.

I don't see why it is either. But the problem is that 2/3 of Americans are against it regardless, and in a democracy you can't simply ignore them, because if you do and it is an issue that people care enough about, you will find yourself out of office the next time an election rolls around, provided they still think the same way. Sometimes opinion will shift. Other times it won't. Most politicians tend not to like taking the gamble.

Partly right. Most of the New Testament was actually written by Paul, who was alive in Jesus' lifetime but never met him personally. He had a feud with Peter that led to the first big split in the religion. You are thinking about the Gospels, although it would more accurately be about 50-100 years (with John being the most recent, and from a historical perspective probably the least accurate). There are also a large number of writings that were not included in the New Testament for various reasons. The New Testament is a compilation of the most important works in early Christianity. Some stuff just didn't make the cut, but still exists and you can find it if you want.

Articles that are not written exclusively by a researcher isn't much use to our discussion. Also avoid anything from meterologists as they are notoriously shortsighted. Their job is to learn about weather patterns and so forth. Long term climate change is a completely different matter. You need to find stuff from either geologists or preferably true climatologists.

I didn't get it from any website. I got it from the climatology professors here at Carleton and with the Canadian government. It is from personal contact, not research on my part. I'll try to find something on the web that describes what I am talking about.
