Brock/Goldberg was just a farce.

I live in LA, I might go. LA isn't shitty so much as it is really apathetic. Go to a Laker game, it's silent until around the fourth quarter. We don't care about football enough to toss away millions for a stadium every ten years, and don't expect to have PPVs end in a damn draw (ugh, still can't get Unforgiven '02 out of my head). That's what I meant. They sit on their hands the entire time.

Don't feel sorry for him. He'll have Kevin Brown as company soon enough.

No. The small indoor facility is a major problem, as is the fact that LA is notorious for shitty crowds (Wrestlemania VII being an exception).

Its not. I had the same problem last night when I was trying. You have to make sure Connect to the Internet is checked in your WMP options menu. -

Hey guys, there is supposed to be a pre-show at 5:30, but all I'm getting is a test pattern. Is that what you guys have? -
Yep.

Superbrawl VI - 0.63 Uncensored - 0.7 Slamboree - 0.44 -------------------------- NWO Shows Up Great American Bash - 0.48 Bash at the Beach - 0.71 Hog Wild - 0.62 Fall Brawl - 0.65 Halloween Havoc - 0.77 World War 3 - 0.55 --------------------------------- Shawn loses title The NWO did not have a real significant impact on buyrates until 1997 as shown here. They went up, but only slightly. Surely, not enough to impact the WWF buyrates.

Aside from the Test match, nothing happened on it. It just wasn't very good, and wasting someone like Rock on someone like Billy Gunn didn't help things. 1993 was great. Dibiase's last WWF match, a great tag title match, a good six-man, the Bret stuff was great, the main event is underrated because of the crappy angle surrounding it and the guys in it (much like Hogan/Slaughter from WM VII), and it is always fun seeing Marty Jannetty and 123 Kid get squashed. Perfect/Michaels was really the only thing on the card that I didn't enjoy. Agreed on the above. I think the problem with Perfect/HBK was that it wasn't BAD, it was just WWF hyped the fuck out of it, so no matter what, it wasn't going to be as good as expected. The only BAD Thing: Undertaker vs. Giant Gonzalez II: The Feud That Needs To Die. I completely forgot about Taker/Gonzales II. It was terrible. The thing that really ruined Perfect/HBK for me was the ending. I just hated that, and watching the show live it completely deflated me for the rest of the night. It wasn't until I was able to look back at the show that I started to enjoy it.

That's because that is how we think when we order stuff. But I have spent enough time around marks over the years, including to this day, to know that they care only about the top 2 or 3 matches/feuds and that's about it. Now the midcard is important for building new stars, and keeping them from getting bored, but it doesn't draw them in.

I wasn't trying to make out that he killed Shawn, I'm just saying that he was better. Bret wasn't an extraordinary draw himself. Steve Austin killed Shawn, although chaosrage would seem to disagree. Your other arguments. 1) The Steroid Issue. This was a big concern in 1992, which is why we saw Bulldog, Hogan, Sid, Warlord, etc leave the promotion within a short amount of time. This didn't impact the 1995-1997 downfall. 2) Collapse in overall business. Yes, but business just doesn't collapse by itself. There are always reasons for it. Diesel's terrible title run is generally considered the primary one, although it isn't all his fault. Doing things like booking Mabel & Kama as top guys in 1995 was just dumb. Diesel does deserve much of the blame though. 3) NWO Explosion. I really don't think this impacted the WWF much, other than that it forced them to rebuild by losing their top stars and gave them the drive to push new stars. The highest rating WCW ever had occurred the night after Halloween Havoc 1998, well after the WWF had come back. The height of the NWO from a ratings standpoint (not creatively) came in late 1997-early 1998, which is also when the WWF was on the rise because of Austin. Just as WCW being boneheads led to their downfall, not the WWF being better than them, WCW doesn't seem to be the reason for the lousy business in 1996. PS: I would put Rock up there with Austin & Hogan too.

I'm probably the biggest Favre backer on the board, but he was not as good as Elway. Whatever problems he had in the Super Bowls in the 80s, he redeemed himself by his performances in Super Bowls XXXII & XXXIII. Alot of you are definitely underrating Favre too. Yes, he plays poor in domes quite often (although he had no trouble winning @ MIN this year) but he did win the Super Bowl in one and his other accomplishments more than make up for it. No player currently in the NFL is more valuable to his team than Brett Favre. Dan Marino had his fair share of bad games too.

...Possible for the WWE to seem important again?
Kahran Ramsus replied to The Amazing Rando's topic in General Wrestling
I moved it. This certainly falls under this folder as we've defined it. A post this in-depth describing a complete overhaul of the WWE system definitely belongs here. The WWE forum is for discussing the current product by an large, and this goes beyond it into booking the course of action they should take in the future. Sure it is a good post, and I even agree with much of it, but it belongs here. I don't blame Rando, which is why I didn't tell him. It was just a simple mistake. No biggie. I just simply moved it to its proper folder. From the folder description, -

Most of us have sigs turned off now. If you have a complaint about a specific sig, just PM one of us and we will check it out.

88 had nothing aside from a good Bulldogs/Rougeaus match. Everything else at least had something memorable. 88 was basically a fill in show except for the Mega Powers/Mega Bucks blowoff. Second worse would probably be 1999.

Wrestlers upset about Taker return....
Kahran Ramsus replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
Okay, I hate to go into the "who really draws argument", but was The Undertaker really much of a draw? Better than Shawn Michaels, Diesel or Sid, but I would have to say no. -
It won't affect Wrestlemania. Brock will still be there. It is afterwards that I am worried about.

I'm not saying he shouldn't retire. I'm just saying that barring injury, he should give adequate warning. What he did was better than just walking out the door like Austin did, but I still don't think he gave them enough notice. And I like I said earlier, at least he is wrestling the match. If he just refused to participate like Shawn Michaels at XIII, then I would be a lot harder on him. Right now I'm more concerned with what WWE will do once he's gone.
