Because a team like the Yankees spends twice as much as everybody else and goes to the World Series again and again. Can you imagine if the NFL had no salary cap and the Redskins went to 6 of the next 8 WS? The other teams aren't even that bad. It is all the Yankees. The amount that they are paying that team is rediculous. Sports need parity these days to survive. People get tired of seeing the same teams win all the time. Baseball ratings and attendance has plummetted since the 80s and early 90s, when teams like Kansas City, Minnesota, Oakland, Detroit and others had a shot. MLB needs to change or the league will die, and since that would basically be the end of a national baseball league in North America, it is not something I want to see.

Adds more uncertainty to the regular season. Gives teams like the Pirates a chance to actually win. I don't want the NFL version of parity showing up in baseball. Beating a team in the NFL means NOTHING. Beat the Yankees in the playoffs and everyone will always remember you. I do. MLB is akin to watching HHH clobber RVD every week and never putting over anybody in return. In the NFL anybody can win any given week. If you're a Lions fan, you know your team will be right up there in a couple of years. If you're a Tigers fan, they will still be at the bottom in 2023. That's the difference. MLB is the WWE of professional sports.

Yanks in 5. America snoozes. Another blackeye for this league. The thing that really pisses me off, was for the 70s, 80s and early 90s this league was awesome, but it just died after the strike. It needs a hard cap to survive.

Just like they came out in droves to see Yanks/Mets and Yanks/Padres. Oh wait... The Yankees get X-Pac (get the hell off my tv heat) rather than "I want you to lose heat".

KC, Carolina & Minnesota all stunk last year and out of 8 divisions, no defending champion is in first. Anything can happen (except for Cards fans).

i think its july... i cant wait for it.. Yes. Sometime around Canada Day. Spiderman, Catwoman & Blade are supposed to be released in succession, which is yet another reason people think Catwoman will bomb (being released between two bigger movies).
