    The NFL All-Time Draft.

Yes, it is. If my next pick had played 20 years ago, I would have taken one look at his career stats and just moved along, but having seen him play he is one of the most athletic receivers ever and one who can absolutely dominate games like only few can. He's had a lot of bad luck, bad injuries and bad QBs, but the talent is without a doubt there. WR Steve Smith * 3x Pro Bowl selection (2001, 2005, 2006) * 2x All-Pro selection (2001, 2005) * Co-NFL Comeback Player of the Year (2005) * Other NFL accomplishments

I was about to pick, so Gert go ahead. I was just finishing up my writeup.

    Let's Talk About....

There were plenty of guys they could have paired Hogan up with against that summer and fall, without even bringing in Warrior. Hogan/DDP never did get that singles match (that I'm aware of anyways). Hogan/Nash was something that should have been done anyways, after the split in the NWO. Hogan/Hart was a dream match at the time. Flair was back in September and they did that match in early 1999 anyways. There was a number of things they could have done there. Goldberg could have spent the summer against the Flock before moving on to the NWO in the fall. Goldberg/Giant was the obvious match there. Then put Goldberg over huge in the World War III Battle Royale and do Hogan/Goldberg at Starrcade in pretty much the exact same match that they had at the Georgia Dome in real life. WCW had perhaps the best roster ever assembled in 1998. It wouldn't have been difficult finding things for the top performers to do.

That's right. I thought Fokai's pick was Gert's pick, so sorry about that earlier.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

I would not have him ranked as the first QB, but I can see the argument so I wouldn't really consider him a reach. The reach was Warren Moon. If not for last year, I would have considered Brady a reach too but I won't complain after that. Mean Joe Greene, Bob Lilly & Ronnie Lott were probably the best values in the second round. All three should have been first rounders easily. Greene and Lilly are both in my top ten NFL players ever. So is Don Hutson, and I would have drafted him in the third round had he played just about any other position (besides K, P or TE) and because Tarkenton was the last first tier QB available. My top ten for those interested: 1. Jim Brown 2. Jerry Rice 3. Walter Payton 4. Lawrence Taylor 5. Joe Greene 6. John Elway 7. Don Hutson 8. Deacon Jones 9. Johnny Unitas 10. Bob Lilly Gert can pick again at anytime, BTW.

While I'm mostly on the Packers side with regards to the Favre situation, I'm against them here. That offer was pretty bad. I don't blame Grant for being upset.

Ok. I'll go then. I find it stunning that my next pick is not in Canton. In his 9 year career he was an All-Pro eight times, played in the first Pro Bowl, and as team captain led the Eagles to back to back NFL Championships. RT Al Wistert * 1x Pro Bowl selection (1950) * 8x All-Pro selection (1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951) * NFL 1940s All-Decade Team * 2x NFL Champion (1948, 1949) * Philadelphia Eagles captain (1946-1950) * Philadelphia Eagles #70 retired * Michigan Wolverines #11 retired I have to say that I love my offensive line.

So is Bored's original pick time the one that counts? Because if Fokai doesn't show up that's the difference between picking tonight and tomorrow morning.

Eh, there isn't enough difference between the top kickers for me to consider drafting one now. Andersen would have been my #1 though.

    Let's Talk About....

This should have been the main event of Starrcade. Goldberg was US Champ for only something like a month prior to this and they could have easily run that longer. Like others have said, it was a big mistake throwing this away for free on Nitro with no buildup.

I came close to taking Smith the last round, but I desperately needed to get a second linebacker with the position starting to dwindle so it was based on need. I seriously thought about Smith though. I would have loved to have him lining up next to McDonald. Now I'm going to have to go in a different direction, because most of the top production guys are gone and those that are left that are of the 10000+ yard variety are more there because of longevity than anything else. There are lots of guys still playing available, but some people find it hard to pick a guy who has only played half a career.

No. You'll be lucky to see any regular season starters for more than a quarter. The last preseason game is used mostly to determine which fringe guys will round out the 53 man roster and which ones will be cut. Absolutely right. The third pre-season game is the one where the starters get to play much of the game.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

Herman Moore reminds me somewhat of Kurt Warner in that he was basically the god of his position for three or four years and then fell off the face of the earth. It is always hard to rate players like that that had such a short peak, but where that peak was one of the best short term periods of any player of all-time. Regardless, he is a great pick and it is interesting to see all the WRs going this round after not much action there for awhile now.

    The Dark Knight

That was terrible. I also didn't like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory or Sweeny Todd. I've not seen Ed Wood, I'll have to check it out and see if it's the good apple of the shitty Burton bunch. Sleepy Hollow was garbage too. I've never seen Sweeney Todd though.

I was really hoping for Rod Smith to drop to me.

    The Dark Knight

Batman 89 is the only one that I would actually consider good out of the original four, and regardless of what people think these days it is still one of the most thrilling comic book adaptations out there. Batman Forever is decent for what it is and there are some really good things in that film, in particular Kilmer's Batman is the best of the three, but there were so many missed opportunities there. Walken & Pfeiffer's performances save Returns but the story is idiotic and those two succeed pretty much in spite of the script. Batman & Robin is a joke, but at least it is better than Catwoman which is just as stupid as B&R and yet painfully boring as well. Obviously the most recent two films are the best in the franchise, but I really feel that Batman 89 gets far too much criticism. Vale & Knox were useless and the Joker killing the Waynes subplot felt tacked on, but other than that I thought it was great. Nicholson's Joker is still up there with McKellan's Magneto and Ledger's Joker as one of my favourite comic book movie villains.

Arnold was the most entertaining thing about that movie.

I was wondering when Swann would go. He's perhaps simultaneously the most overrated and underrated WR ever.

What Might Have Been: Old School Edition

If Shawn jumps to WCW in 1993 his career probably would have ended up being similar to Marty Jannetty's. In and out of various promotions with numerous drug problems. The Ladder Match made Shawn Michaels (and the feud with Diesel, but the Ladder Match was the first big thing). I know he main-evented a Survivor Series prior to that and had a couple of IC Title reigns, but he was never anything more than a midcarder at that point. He would do nothing of note in WCW. The bigger issue is what happens in the WWF. For starters, 1995 & 1996 are completely different. In 1996 because Shawn was the focal point all year, and in 1995 because Diesel was NOTHING without Michaels getting him over in 1994. Bret Hart, I think would still have a falling out with Vince over the change in the product in 1997, but he'd be the undisputed top star for 4 years prior to that. Owen Hart & Davey Boy Smith could both potentially get WWF Title reigns in a clique-less WWF circa 95-96. The biggest long term effect is without a doubt on HHH. If Shawn leaves in 1993, then Trip is probably out of the company in a couple of years without getting over in his blueblood gimmick. And considering he will likely be running the show someday, that would have a major impact on the company.

Even so, the ending to Batman Returns wasn't exactly light and fluffy.

    The Dark Knight

Bingo. We wouldn't be having this argument if say Michael Caine had died because nobody would dispute that Alfred is a vital recurring character. But Joker is someone who shouldn't have had a major role in the next film even if Ledger was still alive.
