    The NFL All-Time Draft.

It has been eight hours so it is now my turn. My next pick was the consensus best centre in the NFL for over half a decade. What more could I ask for? C Kevin Mawae 6-time Pro Bowler & 2-time first-team All-Pro 177 Consecutive Starts

    Indeed you can.

We are getting close now. Just a couple of more guys and I can finally pick.

I was wondering why you didn't make your pick when you were on last night.

    The Emmy Nominations

I loved John Adams so I hope to see it clean up. I don't think I'll be able to think of Thomas Jefferson again without picturing Stephen Dillane.

    This Week in Baseball 7/14 - 7/20

Usually only on Saturday. On Sunday there is generally one shortly after noon and the other around 4 EST. The Super Bowl is at 6:30. At least the Blue Jays are generally on at 7:00 unless they happen to have a road game in another time zone. MLB playoffs can be extremely annoying for how late they run.

Yeah, great pick with Smith. I was looking at him coming up in this round.

I'm assuming he gets paid more for the comedies.

Why? I really don't get that pick. There's better current TEs left, let alone all-time.

    The Dark Knight

It is the ratings format on Rotten Tomatoes that allows that to happen. Most people I know think that Batman Begins is better than Iron Man, but at the same time there are fewer people that actually dislike Iron Man than Batman Begins, so Iron Man would end up having a better rating in that sample because of fewer negative reviews. For starters, those that are big fans of the over-the-top style by Tim Burton are at odds with the more realistic approach of Nolan. Iron Man doesn't have that handicap.

    Box Office Report...

It wasn't Razzie bad by any stretch. Just kind of mediocre and forgettable. Shatner was the best part.

I agree. He should get 8 hours, not 16. It isn't a matter of needing that time to make the pick and two picks being harder than one. It is just to make sure the guy is around to make the pick.

    Broadway Brett beats retirement!

There are a lot of Packers fans here in Ontario too. They are probably the second most popular team here after Buffalo. The big thing here I believe is more of a casual fan/serious fan divide. Casual fans tend to latch on to stars, whereas those of us who pay closer attention to the game realize that the Packers are definitely justified here. Had Favre done this even two months ago things would have been different. And despite my initial reaction to this, I'm not as anti-Favre as I sound. He is clearly wrong here, but it doesn't make me any less of a fan. The drama will probably ruin this year for the Packers, much like the issues with Ben Roethlisberger destroyed the Steelers a couple of years back and I won't be happy about that, but I will forget about this pretty quickly. Going to the Vikings, Bears or Lions though would be incredibly hard to take. The ideal place would be Tampa. They are considered the local team down in Ocala, FL where I've spent a lot of time, and my mother is a fan of them so I have a soft spot for them. I became a Packers fan because they are a community-run team in the smallest market in professional sports, and when I started watching NFL full-time during the 1994 MLB Strike they were a breath of fresh air compared to what I was used to dealing with in that sport.

There goes my next pick. I didn't pick him sooner because I already had three guys in my secondary, but I was hoping to get him next. I believe he had an interception in that Super Bowl as well. Fantastic pick.

Let's be realistic. Thompson didn't force Favre out. Even if Thompson didn't want Favre to return, all Favre had to do was say that he was coming back and that would have been the end of it. There would have been no question at that point that Favre would have been starting for the Packers. He wasn't forced to retire by any means.

    The Simpsons Week

My picks: 1) Cape Feare - A parody of the film Cape Fear. Sideshow Bob is paroled and swears revenge on Bart. Just non-stop laughs from beginning to end. So many classic moments in this one; the rakes, Homer Thompson, the HMS Pinafore, The Bart The, etc. 2) Boy Scoutz N The Hood - Bart goes on a Squishee bender and winds up in the Junior Campers where he, Homer, Ned & Todd end up stranded in a raft in the middle of the ocean. 3) Homer at the Bat - Burns gets a bunch of MLB ringers to work at the plant so they can play in the region's softball championship. 4) You Only Move Twice - Homer gets a new job with supervillain Hank Scorpio and takes down his archnemesis James Bont. 5) Deep Space Homer - NASA hires Homer to go into space due to falling ratings. Two of my favourite guest stars show up in this episode in James Taylor & Buzz Aldrin. 6) Last Exit to Springfield - Homer becomes the head of the union and leads a strike at the plant. 7) Homer the Great - Homer becomes leader of a Freemason-esque secret society.

I can keep track of my own turn, but I have no idea who is supposed to be going now. I wasn't going to mention those coaches that haven't been selected yet, but since Tzar went ahead and did it anyways, I really think that Halas & Lambeau would have gone by now. I actually expected going into this thing that I would end up with Lambeau as my coach, but I ended up in a position where I felt Shula was the best value pick not knowing Paul Brown would still be around a few rounds later. My top tier is Shula, Landry, Lombardi, Brown, Walsh, Noll & Halas. I think there is a significant drop-off after those seven, even though there are obviously other great coaches as mentioned above.

    Broadway Brett beats retirement!

The only reason I can see for him demanding a release instead of a trade is that he wants to go to a team that the Packers don't want him to go to, namely Minnesota.

Why can't people just do what they say anymore? This doesn't begin and end with Brett Favre. Retire or don't retire. Is it that difficult to pick one or the other? It goes beyond what he should do and is more simply picking one option and sticking to it so people don't just stick around wondering what is going to happen. The indecisiveness by the world in general these days is disgusting.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

Thank you, thank you. You're right. O'Neal doesn't get talked about nearly as much as he should. He's in the top ten for sacks all time, and basically saved the Chargers defense in the late 80s/early 90s.

I came close to taking Dean instead.

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

Riley was someone I was looking at when I grabbed Renfro. Anyways, my pick was a sack machine getting 12 or more in a season seven times with a high of 17 in 1992. He also qualifies at both DE and OLB, although I plan on playing him at DE which was his preferred position. DE Leslie O'Neal Career Stats Sacks 132.5 Interceptions 3 Touchdowns 1 Career Highlights and Awards * 6x Pro Bowl selection (1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995) * 1986 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year

    The NFL All-Time Draft.

Probably most famous for his 35 Yard TD reception in the 1960 NFL Championship (the only postseason game that Vince Lombardi ever lost as head coach), when my pick retired he was fourth all-time in yardage and second in TDs. The Eagles meanwhile have won squat since he left after the 1963 season. I've been waiting on this guy for a few rounds now, expecting him to still be available with this pick although I was getting a little nervous once I saw Clayton get taken. WR Tommy McDonald Career Stats Receptions 495 Receiving Yards 8,410 Touchdowns 84 Stats at NFL.com Career Highlights and Awards * Pro Bowl (x6) (1958, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1965) * Eagles Honor Roll * Elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998
