Is anybody going to be on til midnight (EDT) in case Brandon misses his pick again? I have to get up early tomorrow so I will be going to bed at 11 and I need to know who to PM my pick to in case Brandon doesn't show up.
-
Ha! I knew that was where you were going.
-
I know people are down on WRs, but Harrison really dropped too far. I have him ranked better than several of the WRs taken before him thus far.
-
And you know, the saddest thing is that you probably could have gotten Noll coming back and got both guys you wanted.
-
I was definitely surprised to see in the film.
-
I knew Brooks wouldn't drop to me, but I was definitely hoping for it.

Saw it and liked it, although it wasn't as good as Iron Man. I only wish that Sam Elliot was in this one instead of the Ang Lee version as I felt that was the one big advantage the first film had. Hurt wasn't bad, he just didn't do anything to stand out either. Other than that, this one was much improved.

I don't get the Hornung pick. Yes, he was versatile and important part of the Lombardi-era Packers, but he wasn't even the best RB on his own team.

CGI is like anything else, there is good CGI and there is bad CGI. The problem is that there is a lot more of the latter than the former. But it is the same way with the old style special effects. CGI is an improvement, even if it doesn't always look like it. Look at the Terminator films for example. No one will be able to convince me that the T-1000 in T2 looks worse than puppet-Arnie in the first Terminator. Where CGI suffers is in comparison to the real old epics. Like in the Star Wars prequels, we can tell that it is two cartoon armies fighting it out but in say Lawrence of Arabia it looks real because it is. When the Arabs storm Aqaba it looks more effective because those soldiers are really there. You can't fake that stuff.

I'm going to bed at 11, so I probably am not the best bet. I figured that we may start seeing some coaches soon. Unlike other sports a good head coach is often vital in football. I just think there are too many of them to justify passing on a player you feel you must have. But we are getting to the point where we are getting past the must have players and it is better to get a top of the line coach than reach for a player you don't really want. It will be interesting to see the order in which the top ones get picked as a lot of it depends on the playing style that people are looking for.

Sorry about that. This one was my fault. I was picking out of turn so I completely forgot.
-
I figured Pace wouldn't be too far behind Roaf & Jones.
-
I couldn't access it at lunch, but I could get back on during my next break around 2ish. You probably didn't miss much since you already had Night Train Lane.

CB Champ Bailey I missed out on Adderley by one pick, so I am going with a guy that I was thinking about for a long time as well. Shutdown corners are one of the scarcest resources in the history of the league, so I am making sure I get the only guy currently playing that fits that bill. He could retire tomorrow and he would still go down as one of the greatest corners in the history of the league and he's not even 30. Quarterbacks don't even throw in his direction anymore. * 1998 Nagurski Award * 8x Pro Bowl selection (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007) * 4x All-Pro selection (2004, 2005, 2006, 2007) * Tied with 4 other players for NFL interception touchdowns in 2005 * Led NFL in interception yards in 2006 * Tied with Asante Samuel for NFL interceptions in 2006
-
Yep, it was Adderley I was about to pick. Time for my back up.
-
Okay. Good. I didn't want to steal your pick while you were actually here to make it. I just hope you don't take the guy I want. EDIT: Goddammit!
-
So Gert's time is up too? Actually, he's here so I don't know why he's not picking.
-
Yep. We ran into one of those runs were people were worried that the stud tackles would soon be gone. Slater was on my mind, but I went with the more important side. Now I have Walter blocking for Walter. Hmmm...Doesn't seem to have been a lot of action since I was gone. How long before I get to pick again?
-
Ok. My turn. It is often said that most important position on a team is the left tackle position, and after losing out on Jack Youngblood I'm going after a need here. He's starting to slow down a bit with age, but at his peak he was arguably the best player in the NFL and perhaps the biggest part of Seattle's success this decade, including a record setting season by Shaun Alexander in 2005. LT Walter Jones Career highlights and awards * 8x Pro Bowl selection (1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007) * 7x All-Pro selection (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007) * Tuesday Morning Quarterback Non-QB Non-RB NFL MVP Award (2005) I have to go to bed now since I'm getting up at 6, so I will make my next pick tomorrow morning if it is my turn.
-
If I don't see him around in 10 minutes, I'm making my pick. I think this is the first round that he's missed the limit on though.
-
And there goes my backup pick. So at 11:09 EDT I can just jump in right?
-
Well, there goes my pick.
-
Manley was a reach with some of the guys still out there. 6 picks to go and there is one guy I desperately want with my next pick, so we'll see what happens.
-
Now I'm pissed. Not only do you miss the time limit, but then you go and draft the guy that Lombardi said was the greatest player he ever coached.
-
You actually could have made that pick a couple of hours ago since we are down to 8 hours now.
