I find it to be part of the charm of this franchise. Since the whole thing is based around nostalgia for the old movie serials, it has never bothered me as much as other films from the same period.

There is no reason why more than three films can't succeed. Just because studios have the tendency to botch it doesn't mean the concept doesn't work. As for the Penguin, he would be one of the easier characters to translate if they do what people here have said and just make him a regular arms dealer or gangster. I think something similar to Philip Seymour Hoffman's character in Mission Impossible 3 or Joe Don Baker's in The Living Daylights would work really well. Especially as a secondary villain to a more emotional one like Two-Face.

Mr. Freeze the character is perfectly fine in Batman & Robin. It is the dialogue that ruins him. Poison Ivy is the one who's motivations and methods make little sense. I agree about Batman Returns though. You are absolutely right. People really disliked it at the time and thought Batman Forever was a big improvement, which for all its faults at least tried to give some depth to the Bruce Wayne/Batman character by going into his backstory a little bit. The only one I'd actually consider good is the first one, and Jack Nicholson largely carries that film on his back. Returns probably could of worked if they had just stuck with Shrek as the main villain, but all the Penguin junk completely ruins it.

Thank God. I did not want Green Bay taking Pacman Jr.

Nice haul for the Eagles on that deal.

As a Packers fan I was loving it.

That's okay. I don't have ESPN. Mike Mayock's been pretty good with his predictions thus far.

? Rivers is a great pick. I don't know what you're talking about there. Ellis is who they wanted and it seems like half their team are demanding trades.

Can things get much worse for the Bungles?

Atlanta would be crazy to pass on Dorsey. They can just get a QB in the second.

1. How much of the tournament should be shown on the PPV? Quarterfinals on? Semi-finals on? Quarters on. The tournament is what differentiates it from any other PPV. Only going with the Semi Finals on is like having the Royal Rumble with 1 minute intervals. It cuts down on the drama and makes it seem like less of an accomplishment for the winner. It also makes nearly every match seem important. Nearly every KOTR PPV with only the two rounds has had a bunch of heatless filler elsewhere. Now granted the WWF has had trouble booking longer tournaments, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there is a problem with the concept. 2. Since the last KOTR PPV in 2002, do you think the WWE has been better at building young superstars? Worse? Worse, but this is one area which isn't entirely their fault. Quite frankly the younger talent isn't simply nearly as good as the performers a decade ago. Whether this is because of a lack of competition or simply because it is a down period is an answer I don't have. Regardless, even before 2002 the KOTR wasn't that important in building up new talent. Owen Hart was made at Wrestlemania X. Steve Austin was turned into a star because of the Bret Hart feud which was months after KOTR. Brock Lesnar's big moment was at Summerslam against the Rock. HHH was turned into a name by DX and made credible in the MSG Street Fight against Foley. KOTR is a step in the right direction, but its importance is overstated. The one who benefitted the most was Mable who instantly went from midcard joke to the main event, but he sucked so it flopped. 3. If Steve Austin hadn't won the '96 King of The Ring, how would it have effected his career? What if Triple H hadn't won in '97? Austin's KOTR win gave him some momentum, but the character change really occurred after he ditched Dibiase. He then spent the rest of the summer afterwards doing virtually nothing until Hart returned in the fall and he was turned into a legend. There is at least an argument there though. I don't see how KOTR had any lasting impact on HHH at all. He is a case of someone who got pushed first and got over later. 4. What are some of your favorite King of The Ring memories? - Bret Hart vs. Curt Hennig in 93 - Hulkamania dies against Yokozuna - Jim Neidhart returns, helps Owen Hart win the tournament - Austin destroys Jake Roberts to win the crown - Angle's three matches in 2001 against Christian, Edge & Shane McMahon 5. Least favorite? - Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho & Eddy Guerrero all go down in the first round in 2000 - Also from 2000, the Patterson/Brisco match - 1999: 7 Tournament Matches, 2 Clean Finishes - King Mabel - King Ass - Savio Vega defeating IRS, Yokozuna & Road Dog in one evening. Any of them is bad enough, but Yoko in particular should have destroyed him.

That's what happened, but I think most of us knew that's how this would end up after we found out about the benching yesterday. I'm speaking more about that than actually giving him his release. They didn't want his option to kick in for next year which was based around the number of plate appearances.

I agree with that too. I hate the move. But money is almost certainly the reason they did it.
-
Exactly. There is no doubt in my mind that this is money related.

I have to agree with Aero, it was interesting at first but the Greater Power angle killed it.

I would have to say the 1974 Pittsburgh Steelers that got 4 Hall of Famers out of that draft (Lynn Swann, Jack Lambert, John Stallworth & Mike Webster). -

No love for Pride of the Yankees or Knute Rockne, All American? -
That's the key right there. It is the weakest division in baseball and as a result I could see any team other than the Pirates potentially winning it.

TSM Town Hall: Legacy of a Great Match at Mania
Kahran Ramsus replied to Dandy's topic in The WWE Folder
Big Mania matches are extremely important to how the fanbase views the top stars of wrestling, not only because they were the biggest shows, but also because they were the most easily accessable tapes for the fans for years. Many of current fans do not know much of the stars that didn't have big showings there (Harley Race, Bruno Sammartino, Verne Gagne, Superstar Billy Graham and other big stars prior to 1985). Wrestling history is generally divided into the pre and post-Wrestlemania Eras for a reason. Additional Questions 1. What wrestler has had the most memorable Mania matches for you? Randy Savage. He was absolutely huge at III, IV, V, VII & VIII with some of the best matches and best angles in WWF history. 2. Has anyone been "made" from a Wrestlemania match? If so, whom? Bret Hart. He was basically a tag wrestler who was having yet another attempted run at being a singles star. He had a big match against an ailing Curt Hennig at Summerslam, but spent the time since back down the card feuding with Skinner & Mountie and not doing a whole lot even when he was IC Champion. Then at Wrestlemania he defeats Roddy Piper clean which nobody ever does in a great match and true passing of the torch moment. 3. What match do you think of first when you think of a big Mania match? Hogan/Warrior. I sadly had not started watching for Wrestlemania III and I am obviously biased here, but this match was huge when it happened. It is just the type of dream match between the two top faces that simply didn't happen in the days of kayfabe. And honestly, the fact that it is simply a much better match than Hogan/Andre factors into my mind as well. 4. How important is a memorable entrance for a match at Mania? How much does that add to the feel of the match? A lot. Now it doesn't necessarily mean that we need rock music, pyro and a ten minute walk down the aisle for everybody, but the entrance is a big part of the show. One of my favourite entrances is Andre the Giant's from Wrestlemania III. No music, no pyro, just Andre standing in the cart with Heenan while being introduced by Bob Uecker and being pelted with garbage. Classic. 5. Who has had the best Mania entrance that has added to the feel of the match? I have to go with other people here and say Ultimate Warrior at Wrestlemania VII. For the first and only time in his WWF career he didn't run down to the ring like a maniac, but took it slowly to conserve his energy. It really made it seem that much more important. A more recent one is HHH's Motorhead entrance at X-7. Going into the match I didn't think HHH stood a snowball's chance in hell of beating Taker and giving such a elaborate entrance to a guy that I knew was going to be looking up at the lights in a few minutes did put some doubt into my mind whether he could actually pull it off. I didn't care about the match at all beforehand and it ended up being one of my favourite things on the show. -
AL East 1. Boston 2. New York 3. Tampa Bay 4. Toronto - This says more about Toronto than Tampa actually. I just get the feeling based on what I've seen happen thus far in the spring that this is one of those Murphy's Law years for the Jays. I'm putting them fourth because even the Chiefs could probably finish ahead of Baltimore. 5. Baltimore AL Central 1. Detroit - World Series Champions 2. Cleveland - Wild Card 3. Kansas City 4. Chicago 5. Minnesota AL West 1. LA 2. Seattle 3. Oakland 4. Texas NL East 1. New York - NL Champions 2. Atlanta - Wild Card 3. Philadelphia 4. Washington 5. Florida NL Central 1. Chicago 2. Milwaukee 3. Houston 4. St. Louis 5. Cincinnati 6. Pittsburgh NL West 1. Arizona 2. Colorado 3. San Diego 4. LA 5. San Francisco

Rock Vs. HHH or HBK Vs. Hart, which Ironman match you think is better?
Kahran Ramsus replied to Lt. Al Giardello's topic in General Wrestling
I have to go with HHH/Rock as well. It is easily the more entertaining match from bell to bell, even if it suffers from a screwy ending. But the ending to HBK/Bret sucks too. Not in that Shawn wins which, IMO, was the proper ending, but the whole going the distance and then restarting only to end it in 2 minutes was retarded. -

I would definitely count the Bills, Titans, Browns, Chargers, Eagles, Cardinals & Lions as having won titles in football. If you really want to be technical the Vikings have one too, but that one was a part of the Super Bowl era and they ended up getting clobbered by the Chiefs in the Super Bowl so I personally don't acknowledge that one. -
Thought of him too.
