The TSM 2008 NFL Mock Draft

With the 53rd pick in the draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select WR Andre Caldwell from Florida. I would have loved it had Albert slipped. I thought of picking him in the first round.

    Broadway Brett beats retirement!

And it might happen in two divisions this year! Maybe even three.

    Broadway Brett beats retirement!

Which sadly, probably makes him the best QB in the division.

I can't imagine why we would. The Packers are still a good young team. Even without Favre they would only need tweaking, not a complete overhaul.

    Broadway Brett beats retirement!

A sad day, but at least he made them good again before he left. This is much easier to take now than it would have been after the 4-12 season a couple of years ago. I'm more concerned about his fragility instead of his ability.
  6. What do you consider to be the worst moment and/or lowest point in the history of your favourite team(s)? Packers - 4th & 26. The reason this frustrates me the most is because unlike those other big disappointing moments where the Packers clearly got outplayed, in this one the Packers had it in the bag and let it slip away. Extremely disappointing. Blue Jays - The final weekend in 1987. Toronto has the division lead going into Detroit and gets swept handing the AL East over to the Tigers. That was heartbreaking, even moreso than in 1985. Raptors - Two words: Rob Babcock. Senators - All of those playoff defeats to inferior Maple Leafs teams.
  7. I could understanding wanting Rock to show up for something like the Hall of Fame or do some interviews for his DVD set or something, but to ask him to be a part of an actual segment rather than standing around and waving to the crowd is asking too much. He's moved on from that.

    The Oscars

Those are the three that I've seen and I would rank them exactly the same way.

The TSM 2008 NFL Mock Draft

I would have liked the Packers to get him. Anyways, with the 23rd Pick, the Pittsburgh Steelers select Gosder Cherilus from BC and get their much needed line help.

This is just a warning that unless we get a pick soon, I won't be able to make mine until tomorrow evening. Just giving everyone a head's up.

So, are the 1972 Miami Dolphins really the greatest team ever?

Why is that idiotic? The Pats didn't win the big game. Period. 18-1 doesn't matter when you have nothing to show for it. You can't compare teams that are considered the greatest of all time (that have won the Super Bowl), with the team that came up short. Sorry. They are the new Baltimore Colts. They won three championships including Super Bowl V and they are remembered more for that one loss to the Jets than anything else they ever did. Like the Patriots, had the Colts won they would probably have been called the greatest team of all-time. At least to that point anyways.

This is how I feel as well. When everything counted the most, the Bears were absolutely dominant. Two straight shutouts to get into the Super Bowl and then an absolute drubbing of the Patriots in it. They would be the best single season team, although the Niners from a year earlier are close. The best dynasty was the Packers of the 60s with five World Championships in a seven year period and appearing in 6 out of 8. BTW, I don't think we should be comparing teams from different eras directly since the game has changed so much as to get a fair comparison. What we should be doing is comparing the results and how far above the curve teams were within their own eras. Even if the Patriots won the Super Bowl, there were teams closer to them in quality than there were the Bears in 1985.

Oh boo. I just read the summary and didn't realize it wasn't updated. I'll go with the Steelers then since I have them in the KKKBowl.

    The 2008 Royal Rumble Thread

Didn't McMahon run to the back and come back later a couple of years ago? I'm quite certain that there's been a rule since the inception of the Royal Rumble that you have to enter the ring at least once before the next guy gets out there, or else you're eliminated. In the example you cited with McMahon, he at least made it inside the ring... So I'm more surprised that they didn't say anything about Hornswaggle getting into the ring in the first place than I am that they didn't say anything about him leaving. It was a rule for 1991 when it happened with Savage, but things haven't been consistant for a long time (if ever). Nunzio never got in the ring one year too, until Cena tossed him in a few entrants later. As for the show, which was my first since the Benoit murders, I thought the undercard was remarkably bland but the Rumble itself was great. For the first time in a long time, the bookers managed to pull off something truly surprising and it was easily the right choice to win it. I thought it was brilliant how they made you think HHH was a lock once all of his major competition got low numbers and then they brought out the biggest surprise entrant in the match's history one number later. For the first time in a long time I'm actually interested in wrestling again.

    kkk Bowl V: The Postseason

I went too high. I should have known better when the bad weather started rolling in. Still, it was my best season ever.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

That Vikings team was much better than this Packers team. They still have to live with the fact that they were the best team never to make the Super Bowl. At least the 1968 Colts got there.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

Good thing you added that last part. I love the Packers, but I know damn well they didn't deserve to win that game. Even if they had snuck it out in OT.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

ESPN should be hyping this up. They are in the championship after all. If it was Chargers/Packers, they would be talking about that 24/7. The only time I think they really go overboard (and FOX does this too) is with the Yankees & Red Sox. I remember a couple of years ago when FOX was hyping the American League Championship Series between the White Sox and Angels and literally the entire pre-show was about the fact that the Yankees & Red Sox weren't there. The two teams actually playing barely got a mention. Now that is going overboard. The teams still playing should always be talked about more than the teams that are not.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

What about Jets fans? They have one of the crummiest franchises in AFC history and are some of the most obnoxious fans in the NFL.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

Don't forget Nick Collins for drawing a roughing the passer penalty on Eli Manning when they had him stopped on third down on the game changing drive. Oh and the oaf who tried to pick up that fumble in the last two minutes instead of just falling on it and regaining possession.

    NFC Championship: Packers vs. Giants

For some I have the feeling I'm stuck in a timewarp from 2001 and have visions of another lousy Super Bowl thrashing with the Patriots in Baltimore's role.

    Harry Potter Movies

I agree, but I had the same problem with the book. Nothing much happens in Order of the Phoenix. It is basically just an exercise to get the Ministry to acknowledge Voldemort's existence, and even then the Ministry is pretty much useless anyways. Aside from we end up pretty much in the same spot at the end of the book that we were at the end of Goblet of Fire. The next two books are much better.

    Worst Royal Rumble match

Gotta go with 1999 as well. The first two minutes are good with Austin/McMahon. From about #20 on, the action is decent. But everything in between is outright terrible with plenty of non-action, backstage segments and JTTS. There are several places in this Rumble where people are just standing around waiting for somebody else to come in. Outside of the action, I find it absolutely ludicrous that a wrestler can be in the Rumble, leave for an hour and then come back and win having never been eliminated. I am pretty forgiving when it comes to realism and wrestling, but that was just embarrassing and made a complete mockery of the match, moreso than the 1 minute intervals in 1995 (which is the runner-up in this category). One thing that I always felt was stupid about 1995 was that with the lack of star power, they went and eliminated two of their strongest competitors (Owen Hart & Bob Backlund) in under a minute. Without those two it left only Bulldog, Michaels & Lex Luger with any chance of winning at all and it really killed the drama of the match. There wasn't any surprise when Shawn & Bulldog went bell to bell because there couldn't be anybody else. To be fair, it was heavily advertised to be only one minute intervals before the event. Vince used to mention about every five seconds on the shows leading up to it that it would be the fastest (in a good way) Rumble ever. It didn't work out. Worst match is HHH/Steiner. That was an abomination.
