Can't see it. 16-0, yes, but probably the best thing to happen to the Patriots would have been losing the Ravens on that Monday night game. They lose at home to the Colts in the AFC Championship.

Gotta go with New York and the winner of the Washington/Minnesota game next Sunday night.

And he cost me in my fantasy playoff game by doing that, the bastard!

So is Golden Compass the flop of the year or not?

Who has to pay for the NFL Network? I get the NFL and NHL Networks free. Highly unlikely. They both figure into your cable/satellite bill somehow. Here it is a part of the basic sports package. The same one that comes with TSN, Sportsnet & The Score.

That's not so much really the point as it is that some parents feel that the film (and the books) are an end-run by atheists trying to indoctrinate their children with a message they don't want them to receive. And judging by Pullman's remarks in the past, indoctrination really DOES seem like what he's going for. Which is his right, but I agree that people do have a legit complaint with regards to this movie and its message. The sensible thing to do, of course, if one does object to the film and its / Pullman's message, is to just don't go see it, or let your kids see it. They have that choice, and that's the best avenue of protest altogether. Granted, but I still think that if ones faith is tested by a fictional piece of work that you weren't a very good Christian in the first place. Otherwise you could just watch Star Wars and convert to Jedism or whatever. If they don't want to see it, then that is their right. I'm just saying that Pullman is entitled to his view no matter how much I disagree with him.

The ending to this movie was atrocious. There was no real climax at all, it just ended and left the audience (at least in my theatre) with the feeling of 'That's it?'. What makes it even worse is that they filmed the proper ending and just didn't show it. Even before that it was merely okay, the acting was good, but there was no depth to the characters at all and the whole thing appeared to be going through the motions. I'm not normally one to complain about innaccuracies with regards to the source material, but everything here was just so shallow and poorly paced. The one big complaint I have with regards to accuracy (other than the complete removal of Act 3) is the treatment of Iorek. The film makes him out to be a chump who got exiled because he lost a fight, as opposed to being exiled for being forced to kill another bear. It just made him look like a loser and was hard to get behind because of that. Most disappointing movie of the year and not near the quality of the books. As for the religious aspect of it, even though I am a Christian, Pullman is absolutely entitled to his views, however wrong I think he might be. These are fictional books regardless. One is not a very good Christian if a fantasy novel can get them to doubt their own faith. I view it as a story and nothing more. All that matters is my entertainment and I quite enjoy it (the book at least). Besides the Anglican Church fully supports it anyways. The Archbishop of Canterbury recommends them as a warning against the dangers of dogmatism, and I see no reason to disagree with him.

As far as I know they are, although Bruno Sammartino & Kurt Angle came close. Bruno refused the title and Angle won the belt in TNA just after it lost NWA status.

Your most hated/liked for 2007

Likes The Pack is Back. Two years after being one of the worst teams in football, they are now one of the best and looking at their first bye in the playoffs since they last visited the Super Bowl. Peyton Manning wins the Super Bowl. He has been the best QB in football over the last 8 years (until this season). It finally shuts up the media from saying that his career is tainted because he never won a championship. Toronto Raptors win the Atlantic Division Title and finally return to the playoffs. Ottawa Senators finally make the Stanley Cup Finals after years of futility. Dislike Senators losing said Finals. Chris Benoit murders wife and kid. This left such a bad taste in my mouth I haven't watched a wrestling show since. Yankees re-sign A-Rod and avoid making blunder of the century. The Michael Vick saga. The Barry Bonds saga. -
NFL Week 14 - Dolphins? More like LOLphins! Amirite?

And their fourth in six years. Not bad since most people had them written off completely two years ago. -

Well, I got that from the article, but what exactly do they have on Guillen and Gibbons that makes them open for suspension? It would have been nice if they provided more info or at least outlined what the standards were for suspension. It seems aribitrary on the surface. I'm going to be honest with you, I never read the article.

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3144472 Where are the suspensions for Gary Matthews Jr., Paul Byrd, Troy Glaus, Scott Schoenweis and Rick Ankiel? This is one reason why I am not looking forward to the Mitchell Report. The punishments are going to be so haphazard and inconsistent. I'd fight this if I was the Player's Union. Lack of evidence so no suspensions for those five.

It was pretty obvious at the time who it was going to be, and that's without any insider information.

TSN is showing it in HD right? At least I hope so.

I didn't know whether just to edit the previous post or just finish off my picks here. I will go back if requested and fix up my earlier post. Buffalo @ Jacksonville (7.5) Denver @ Chicago (2.5) Houston @ Cleveland (3.5) Minnesota @ N.Y. Giants (7.5) (3.5) New Orleans @ Carolina Oakland @ Kansas City (5.5) (3.5) Seattle @ St. Louis (1.5) Tennessee @ Cincinnati Washington @ Tampa Bay (3.5) San Francisco @ Arizona (10.5) Baltimore @ San Diego (9.5) Philadelphia @ New England (22.5) Miami @ Pittsburgh (15.5) Steelers - 35 points. The Steelers are getting just the right medicine for those flu-like symptoms they were experiencing last week.

How is it a trap when Detroit is both a good team and a divisional rival? This is a tough game rather than a trap game.
-
(3.5) Green Bay @ Detroit N.Y. Jets @ Dallas (14.5) (11.5) Indianapolis @ Atlanta I will do the rest later as well.

I was off on a lot of my other predictions as well. I'm not surprised about San Diego, but I'm shocked that New Orleans is as crummy as it is with no upheaval or major losses in the off-season. The one I really botched though and feel that I should have known better was in the NFC East. Looking back on it, Dallas was clearly a more talented team than Philadelphia. As for the Rams...umm...whoops! At least I called the Niners being crappy.

They were in field goal range both times with a sizeable lead. What good is it to go for TD's at that point? If the Bills can't stop them, why not? Why run up the score? It's already a blowout so why pile it on? Are they that proud that they blew away the Bills? It's 4th and a long one. Most coaches in that situation (ie with a huge lead) are probably going to take the points and not the risk Because it is not the job of the offense to stop themselves. Right, it's up to their prick coach. Winning like this is what makes people hate the Patriots. What's wrong with the field goal in those situations? Because the object of the game is to score points and last I checked 7 was a bigger number than 3. Had they turned it over on downs THEN it would have been a bad decision. It's 4th and a long one. Most coaches in that situation (ie with a huge lead) are probably going to take the points and not the risk. Yep. Like I said, I probably would have kicked to avoid the risk too. But the fact is that it worked, and I think given that Buffalo's defence is playing so poorly there wasn't much doubt that they would manage to convert. I don't see where we should second-guess a decision that ended up working.

A track athlete in the Olympics being forced to slow down so not to make the losers look bad? If Buffalo or whomever is getting crushed this badly, its because they deserve it. If this was happening to the Packers I'd be pissed at them for letting it happen, not the team that is raping them.
