The Prestige may be one of the most purely entertaining films of the year, but I'd be shocked if the Academy even looked at it. At the most I can't see it getting anything more than a Best Adapted Screenplay nom.

Controversy Creates Cash - Eric Bischoff

Eddy was injured for most of the two months pre-Latino Heat in the WWF and was pretty much only being used as Benoit's lackey and hanging backstage with Saturn & Malenko. No wonder he didn't get over doing that. -
I was hoping for more from The Prestige. Fantastic movie.

I actually had the Jags down as my suicide pick until Friday night when I changed it to New York. Looks like I made a good move.

Steelers/Falcons & Bengals/Panthers are decent enough.

I feel that way every year. I wonder why we have to put up with them for the rest of the playoffs.

Controversy Creates Cash - Eric Bischoff

The one big advantage that WCW always had over the WWF, even in their darkest days (with the sole exception of a brief period in 1991-1992) was that there roster was better than the WWF's roster, misused as it was. When the Radicalz left, WCW lost that. Now the WWF not only had more logical booking, better production values and better storylines, but they had the better wrestlers and matches as well, and what was left of the audience disappeared. Losing the Radicalz was pretty much the last breath of life going out of the company. In addition to that, there was also the question of who was leaving. Chris Benoit wasn't just anybody, he was their World Champion! And he threw away the belt rather and went to the competition rather than stay with WCW and be champion. The was a huge blow to WCW's image. It is what Vince feared happening in 1997 that led to Montreal. -
Unless it is Bret Hart or Rick Rude, I don't care. I figure both are equally as likely. Somehow, I think Bret has about a 100% better chance than Rude... Edit: Wait... unless it was sarcasm It was and it wasn't.

Lousy Bills & Redskins.

Normally I would recommend Johnson, but I think the Vikings are on bye too. Go with Plummer who is at home to the Oakland Raiders.

I'm 4-1 (my one loss being this past week) despite missing Portis for the first two weeks. Now I have to deal without Fitzgerald for the next little while. My biggest move was picking up Marques Colston after Week 1, once I saw he was elgible at TE in Yahoo. I also traded Lamont Jordan for Warrick Dunn right back at the beginning of the season and people hadn't quite clues in on how bad the Raiders are. I'll pick up BYE week replacements for my DEF & K when the time comes. I dropped my backup DEF after the Ravens went on a tear and I never carry two kickers outside my bye week. Current team: QB - P. Manning, Bledsoe WR - Fitzgerald, Boldin, D. Jackson, S. Moss, A. Johnson, Jennings RB - Portis, S. Jackson, Dunn TE - Colston, Miller K - Kasay DEF - Ravens

He is the worst owner in sports. Why he hasn't been barred from the league is beyond me.

Apparently Money Inc. and Arn Anderson made appearances. And JBL was awesome as always. But HHH also said "cock" approximately 58,771 times during one 5-minute promo. So, a bit of a mixed bag. Money Inc? That would be interesting.

I'm beginning to wish that I watched RAW instead. Was it any better?

You mean like how I'm going to be watching Ravens/Broncos because RAW sucks? Point taken. -

He's been in lots of stuff. Sports fans should recognize him as the Hobbit's buddy in Rudy. -
The losing streak ends!

All I want is for Bledsoe to play next week. I know he's garbage, but I have Peyton as my FF starter, so I drafted him specifically to play the Texans at home during Peyton's bye week. After that, I don't care what happens to him.

I picked the Twins to win the World Series. I guess I better stick with my 1-2 KKKBowl team.

Marques Colston has been very impressive too.

Politics sank Bischoff's WCW in 1998/1999. Russo's WCW was killed by horrid writing on his part. The one good thing that Russo did with WCW was toss out the troublemakers like Hogan and give other people (Booker T, Steiner) a chance. But the writing was so bloody awful by that point that even pushing the rights guys and getting around the politics didn't help things. To put it in perspective, WCW was doing better numbers during the horrid Sullivan run at the beginning of 2000 than Russo was pulling in by the end of the year. Kevin Nash was doing significantly better during his horrid run at the book in 1999. That's how bad Russo was.

1998 WWF was alright for the first part of the year, but it was completely dominated by the main event angle. There was little to no depth in the roster with most of the rest of the crew booked in silly angles and RAWs that consisted of about 10 minutes of wrestling total in a 2 hour show. It really nosedived after Summerslam when the took the belt off of Austin and drove the Undertaker feud into the ground. Quality-wise there wasn't much there and the booking steadily got worse as the year wore on. I won't deny the historical impact of the year, but it wasn't nearly as good as people viewed it at the time and pales in comparison to what WCW was doing in the two previous years. Even in 1998 the matches on Nitro blew RAW's out of the water, but WCW started suffering from massive booking problems in the main event that year. 1999 was probably the worst year in WWF history in terms of quality. There was almost nothing that year with Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, King of the Ring, Summerslam & Survivor Series all being among the worst PPVs that the company has ever put on. Even 2002 had some positives (ie. the Smackdown Six Era). 1999 was dreadful from start to finish. WWF finally started pulling out of their creative rut with the HHH/Steph Wedding at the very end of the year, and didn't start to get really good until around Royal Rumble time. It is no coincidence that the most successful year in WWF history was 2000, both financially and from a creative standpoint, the year after Russo left.

He deserves lots of credit. 1998/99 were horrible from a quality standpoint and his tenures in WCW & TNA were even worse. He deserves all the credit in the world for putting on such a lousy product whenever and wherever he's in charge.

Definitely the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition DVDs. The Extended Cuts of the film, four commentary tracks, and about 12 hours of documentaries on each of the three films.
