Option #1: Stay impartial and watch the games purely because you like the sport. God knows I've gotten used to it with baseball. Option #2: Cheer for the team you bet on. As for the games, I think the two NFC matchups are by far the most interesting. Carolina is fantastic one week and horrible the next, so who knows what is going to happen against the Giants, and Redskins/Bucs played probably the best game of the regular season back in Week 10. Right now I like Carolina (those injuries have really hurt the Giants defense) and Tampa Bay, but they are far from sure things. In the AFC, expect New England to completely overwhelm the Jaguars who ended the season playing one of the easiest schedules in the league. In the other game, the Bengals have ended the season ice-cold and already lost to Pittsburgh once at home. Cincy can't stop the run, and that's what the Steelers do best on offense.

I'm surprised Norv Turner hasn't been fired yet.

Nope.

I hate Week 17. All of the good teams will probably be playing backups, and the bad teams are playing for the draft. Denver at San Diego (10.5) (8.5) N.Y. Giants at Oakland Arizona at Indianapolis (6.5) (3.5) Baltimore at Cleveland Buffalo at N.Y. Jets (0.5) (3.5) Carolina at Atlanta Chicago at Minnesota (3.5) Cincinnati at Kansas City (0.5) Detroit at Pittsburgh (14.5) Miami at New England (0.5) New Orleans at Tampa Bay (13.5) (2.5) Houston at San Francisco Tennessee at Jacksonville (3.5) Seattle at Green Bay (3.5) Washington at Philadelphia (0.5) St. Louis at Dallas (12.5) Steelers - 38 pts Vikings - 10 pts

2005 isn't even the worst year in WWF history. 1995, 1999 & 2002 were easily worse. WCW 2000 was much worse. Aside from some cruiser stuff at the end of the year in the openers once Russo left, it was completely horrid, top to bottom. WCW 1999 wasn't much better.

The Bears are the #2 team in the NFC despite losing their starting QB in the pre-season. It really has to be Lovie Smith.

The way I see it the big power boost, which is definitely what the Jays needed, more than makes up for the slight downgrade from Hudson to Hill. But if they could have traded Hinske, they would have. They've been trying to get rid of him for awhile now. Even before this deal Hinske was going to be riding the pine if they couldn't unload him. Can Glaus or Hillenbrand play OF at all?

But you are forgetting one thing. WWE is pretty much useless for carrying things out in the long term, so about the best we can hope for is the big dream match.

I'll be a bit disappointed regardless because I was really hoping for HBK/Guerrero. I would love Brock/Batista, but that seems to be no-go at this point. That leaves the following... World Heavyweight Championship: Batista vs. The Undertaker - The monster world champion who has had the belt for a year against the man undefeated at Wrestlemania. WWE Championship: Kurt Angle vs. Triple H - I know Trip has been jobbing a lot recently, but these are still the two biggest names on the RAW side of the roster. Hulk Hogan vs. Steve Austin - These are the two biggest names of their eras. If they don't face each other, I don't care to see either one. Interpromotional Match: Shawn Michaels vs. Rey Misterio - We saw a glimpse at the Eddy RAW tribute, and this would be the best choice as replacement for Shawn/Eddy here. Interpromotional Match: John Cena vs. Randy Orton - The battle of the future. United States Championship: Chris Benoit vs. John 'Bradshaw' Layfield - Always interested in this match, and it would be nice to see it on PPV. Intercontinental Championship: Edge vs. Shelton Benjamin - They missed the boat on Edge's main event run. World Tag Team Championship: Big Show & Kane vs. Chris Masters & Carlito Caribbean Cool - I like Big Show & Kane as a team, but the RAW tag division is non-existant so it is difficult to come up with opponents. WWE Tag Team Championship: MNM vs. Brian Kendrick & Paul London - Two most talented teams on the roster. Kendrick/London with the upset.

They also beat the Bears at the end of that same season (I think it was Week 17 actually). I don't think New England is consistant enough this year to win the three games required to get to the Super Bowl, but they certainly have the potential to knock off the #1 or #2 seed in the Divisional Playoffs and thus be a big factor in this post-season. Imagine if they beat the Colts?

I still watch because in between all the stupid shit, I'm still entertained by many of the workers. It is just really frustrating that they shoot themselves in the foot every time they get some momentum going, by doing some stupid thing that has nothing to do with the product in the ring, and they do it all the time. But Smackdown is still enjoyable enough that I try to catch it at midnights on Thursday (I don't care enough to watch it in the 8:00 timeslot. RAW I've pretty much given up on, since the roster is so thin that they have to use trash like Carlito & Chris Masters just to have a 6-Man Elimination Chamber Match.

Yeah. There was always more of a sexual subtext in the original Kong which was just plain creepy, and I'm glad they dropped it in this version.

Game winning FG for the Browns. 9-7. And sadly, the only reason I was watching this was because the Boys/Skins game was worse.
-
Colts lose again next week now that they have nothing to play for and will end up at 14-2. Just like the '98 Broncos. Manning got hammered all game long.
-
Consider yourself lucky. I'm getting San Fran @ Jacksonville on FOX. I guess I'll be watching Colts/Chargers.

I'm disappointed since it was one of the best major releases this year (although Batman Begins was better). I guess the length and lack of star power hurt it. Maybe it should have been released in the summer? Why people would go see crud like War of the Worlds & Fantastic Four but avoid this is beyond my understanding.

He was absolutely correct in doing so. He didn't say anything against hiring Rebecca, he just said 'not tonight'. And he's right. The credit is just as important as the money. I probably wouldn't have the guts to make that decision, but it was the right one, which is of course why I wouldn't have made it that far in the first place.

Did you watch NFL Total Access last night? They explained this in the Official Review segment. Apparently the call on the field was the right one. The rule as written only applies to if the passer is up the field. Because he was in the End Zone, there is no illegal forward pass penalty. Gado was basically taking advantage of a loophole in the rule.

Okay. I'll have to take a look at it. Is it out on DVD yet?

What's it about?

I've never heard of The Squid and the Whale.

Tampa Bay at New England (4.5) Kansas City at N.Y. Giants (3.5) (9.5) Denver at Buffalo Sunday/Monday Games (1.5) Arizona at Houston (8.5) Carolina at New Orleans Dallas at Washington (2.5) N.Y. Jets at Miami (8.5) (3.5) Pittsburgh at Minnesota San Diego at Indianapolis (7.5) (7.5) Seattle at Tennessee San Francisco at Jacksonville (15.5) (7.5) Cincinnati at Detroit Cleveland at Oakland (3.5) (3.5) Philadelphia at St. Louis Atlanta at Chicago (3.5) Green Bay at Baltimore (3.5) Pittsburgh - 28 pts Minnesota - 17 pts I definitely prefer Option A. The straight point spread system.

Don't forget the extra point that he missed that cost Green Bay a game against Tampa earlier this year.
