Several Denver Broncos RBs of the Shanahan era fit here, but of special notice is Olandis Gary. In Gary's rookie season he ran 1159 yards and 7 TDs in 12 games. He ran for 839 yards and 4 TDs for the rest of his career combined.

Even the first season was pretty silly with the amnesia angle and so forth.

2007. The Chris Benoit incident. Numerous drug busts. Many top stars (Cena, HHH, Taker, Edge and probably more) missed significant time with injury. It just killed my interest in the product and I still haven't gotten back into it the same way I did before. There were worst years in terms of the in-ring product, but backstage it was just disasterous.

Congratulations. That last TD was heartbreaking.

I overlooked him because he didn't even make it to the next Mania, but very good point. On a similar note, this happened to Sid not once, but twice. He main-evented Wrestlemanias VIII & XIII and was pretty much done with the company within weeks both times.

Diesel. He killed the promotion for months. Had the WWF done something like put it on Michaels at Wrestlemania XI or change the belt sometime during the summer when it was clear his reign wasn't working, he wouldn't have been too bad. You admit your mistakes and move on, but the fact they stayed with it for a year despite him tanking even 3 to 4 months in has to make him the worse.

Hey, if someone can not execute a full nelson properly, Monsoon should point out that it's all fucked up. I find it surprising that he gets criticism for this too. This is one of the reasons why I liked Monsoon. He would treat it like a legitimate sport, and if a move wasn't executed properly or somebody didn't hook a leg on a pinfall attempt or tried to win a match with a chinlock, he would call them out on it.

The less I remember about that angle, the better.

The biggest fall has to be Eddie Guerrero. Wrestlemania XX - Defeats Kurt Angle in the co-Main Event, and ends the show celebrating with Benoit. Wrestlemania XXI - Defeated by Rey Misterio in the opener. Wrestelmania XXII - Dead.

Morris would likely be in the Hall if the voters didn't hate him on a personal level. Some times it pays to be nice to the media.

The first guy to immediately come to my mind. One of my favourite players as a kid. He won 16+ games 6 times and was the ace on some great Jays teams in the 80s when I was growing up, before having his career destroyed by injuries. 176 Wins, 3.44 Career ERA. Not a Hall of Famer by any means, but he was a very good player for a decade. Jays fans adored this guy back in the day, and him finally getting his no-hitter after losing a couple to the last batter in the 9th is one of my personal top ten favourite sporting moments.

A lot of players feel that way about Gruden. It wasn't just Keyshawn.

Indeed. He was super-over after losing his mask and it seemed to be the thing that would finally put him over the top as a true main event star. Then he feuds with Shane for months instead and even today people no longer see him as a real threat.

I can't remember what we were supposed to pick besides the score and I can't seem to find it now. Was it supposed to be Total Yards Combined or individually for each team?

That was the first year that I had seen all of the nominated movies...and I was very happy that Ryan didn't win. It was my least favorite of the 5. I thought that The Thin Red Line was twice the war movie that Ryan was. I thought The Truman Show should have won and it didn't even get nominated. Had it come out after the Reality TV craze it probably would have been more appreciated.

But he has a ring!

What bps said, but it does very somewhat via sport. Obviously individual sports are championships or bust, but in team sports one player can carry a basketball or hockey team further than they can in baseball or football. The team is ultimately what wins titles, which is why you have legends like Ted Williams or Dan Marino only reaching the championship once while guys like Mike Timlin and Kevin Faulk have multiple rings.

But there is more to a championship then one player, that's they point. It is silly to blame the QB, when the problem with the team is elsewhere. That's what the Bears do and they've had an endless revolving door at the position for decades and only one Super Bowl championship to show for it. With this logic in 1995 the Broncos should have dumped John Elway (multi-time playoff loser) for Mark Rypien (Super Bowl MVP). Anybody who suggested that should have been fired on the spot, and if they had gone ahead and made the move the Broncos would still be looking for the their first Super Bowl. Championships are won by fixing your weaknesses, not by tearing down your strengths. Put McNabb on the Giants, and they are probably still playing right now.

Yes, it does. Relying on blind luck is not a good business model. That's why teams spend millions upon millions in free agency and getting ready for the draft.

And Eli wouldn't have that Super Bowl if it wasn't for what was basically a fluke catch by Tyree. There is so much in this game that is beyond the control of one player. Otherwise we should just declare Bart Starr the best player of all-time and call it a day, despite that team being loaded and not missing much when he was hurt.

This is the real problem with the Eagles right now. They have no consistency in the running game. Notice that they win whenever they can get a big game out of Westbrook, but lose (the Divisional Game against the Giants being an exception) when they don't. They really lack that big power back that compliment Westbrook and convert those 3rd & Shorts and on the Goaline. That's what they really need. The passing game is fine. As for McNabb wanting back, we don't have an insight into his mind so we naturally will always look at the franchise side of things. But I can speak personally, that if it was me in the same situation, I wouldn't want to stay an Eagle. The fans and the media are being very disrespectful and have been ever since he got there. Loyalty to Andy Reid (who's in pretty much the same situation) is about the only reason I would want to stay. I know that given the choice of the two, I would much prefer McNabb to Eli Manning. Manning is an average to above-average QB that happens to be on a great team. He's not a bad QB, but he's not a guy that can put a team on his back like McNabb can either. That's why the Giants (or at least Eli) want Burress back so badly. Because he bailed out Eli out lots, and he really struggled without him this year. If you rank the QBs in the NFL, Eli's probably in the 10-15 range out of 32 teams, so I don't believe I'm shortchanging him.

Brad Johnson, and Mark Rypien FTW! Hostetler as well.

Trent Dilfer has one more championship than Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Dan Fouts & Jim Kelly combined. It doesn't make him a better QB.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel is now reporting that he signed on with the Packers.
