What year did WWE start to lose their edge?

1 point, but it is still one of the biggest drops in the shows's history like you said. The other big one from the era we are talking about is in 2002 after Hogan won the Undisputed Title. When he won it they were consistantly doing in the 4.8 range, by the time he lost it RAW was down to a 3.7.

    Monday's ratings are in and....

The last RAW on USA was September 18th, 2000. It got a 5.7. The first TNN RAW got a 5.4.

Who's winning the 2006 Royal Rumble?

HHH wins and goes onto dethrone Cena and all is right with the world...or something like that.

So you wouldn't watch a product just because it is on a particular network? That's rediculous.

    Your Criteria for what constitutes...

Same thing. Generally speaking though, I prefer an entertaining card top to bottom. I don't mean supercards with main event level matches all over the place, but fun wrestling, usually with a great match or two as the big draws and decent filler and the proper booking. Good matches + Bad Booking usually isn't going to make me happy. I can live with a certain amount of interference, but the right guy has to go over. Any time you have endings like with Lesnar/Taker at Unforgiven 2002, it pisses me off, no matter how good the rest of the PPV is. DQs and No Contests in PPV main events are a big no-no. If you are going to put a DQ in a title match, then don't book it to go last, simple as that.

Jim Ross possibly leaving RAW announce team

Even in the mid 90s, Johnny Polo & Ted Dibiase were better colour guys.

Jim Ross possibly leaving RAW announce team

Oh dear God... JR is the only guy on that announcing team worth anything. I know he doesn't put as much effort into it as he used to, but he's still leagues better than those other two bozos. I'd rather have no commentary than a Coach/Lawler/Random Company Shill team. Maybe they should just put Cole & Tazz on both shows.

Likely. Batista/Eddy, the Four Way, JBL/Rey & Holly/Kennedy should be good, and the Casket Match should be entertaining. Certainly it appears better than the terrible Great American Bash, Summerslam & Unforgiven cards. I'm not saying it is Bash 89 or anything like that. But you're right in that the booking is horrible. I wouldn't pay $35 either.

Actually, given the booking, I'm more interested in seeing another Batista&Eddy/LOD match than I am Batista/Eddy. The card looks good, but the feuds are crap.

What year did WWE start to lose their edge?

Russo sucked too. I think you mean Kreski.
  11. If they do faces vs. heels, they completely ruin the purpose of a Smackdown vs. Raw match. People want to see the biggest stars on both shows go at it. Heels and faces should align for the greater good, like last night when you had Batista, JBL, Benoit & Orton team up against Cena, HBK, Angle & Big Show.

    The OAO Raw Homecoming Thread

Between the Iron Man and looking like a buffoon in the main event, they killed any chance of Angle being seen as a credible threat to Cena. And they are trying to get two more PPV main events out of this feud! Cena's been dead in the water since he left Smackdown, where like him or not, at least JBL had some credibility.

    RAW vs Smackdown stuff

The brand split is the only reason I'm still watching (somewhat).

What year did WWE start to lose their edge?

2000 was the best in-ring year in WWF history and much better than the crap we were forcefed in 1998-99, so it looked even better in comparison. Solid matches up and down the card, which is something you only got in WCW up to that point.
  15. This Raw vs. Smackdown match has me more interested in a WWE PPV than I've been since Mania. Hopefully they don't screw it up. RAW: Shawn Michaels, Edge, Shelton Benjamin, Big Show & Chris Masters Smackdown: JBL, Chris Benoit, Christian, Randy Orton & Rey Misterio Those would be my ideal teams. I wish I could get someone better to replace Masters, but I'm not putting Carlito in there. Those of course won't be the real teams, but would probably result in the best match. RAW: Shawn Michaels, Edge, Big Show, Carlito & Masters Smackdown: JBL, Benoit, Christian, Rey & Booker That's probably what we will really get. Certainly the talent seems stacked towards the Smackdown side with only HBK & Edge being worth anything from Raw.

I can't pick which WS outcome I dread most!

It does. I'm quite happy about that too.

    NFL Week 4- Sept. 26-0ct.2

That's very possible. Chicago is probably the best team in the division right now, and I'm not sure they are better than the Browns. It is that sad. It is going to come down to the divisional games because I can't see any of these losers winning much outside of it. Minnesota in particular has looked even worse than Green Bay. At least Green Bay's losses have been close. You act like he's the problem with the team. And I'd rather Rodgers not be put in with these bunch of losers and ruin his career.

    NFL Week 4- Sept. 26-0ct.2

This pretty much sinks the Packers, but keep in mind the division leader only has 1 win.

What year did WWE start to lose their edge?

The Invasion angle was the start (arguably the aborted Steph/Angle angle in 2000), but the real decline began when they brought the NWO in and killed Jericho's title run. Go back and watch the Invasion PPVs (besides Invasion itself). They are much better than anything we get these days from the WWE. As such I voted 2001, but the biggest drop was early 2002 because we saw the match quality drop sharply and the Undisputed Title bounce around to six guys in as many months (Jericho -> HHH -> Hogan -> Taker -> Rock -> Brock).

What else is new? We've been hearing it since 1999.

    TSM's Fantasy Football Help Desk

QB problem this week, and I'm not really happy with either choice. Trent Green (PHI) Matt Hasselbeck (@WSH) Hasselbeck has gotten more points than Green thus far, but has played worse in real life and he's on the road against a tough defense. Green is playing the best team in the NFC coming off a short week and miserable loss to Denver, but he's at home. Right now I'm leaning towards Green, but what does everybody else think?

Who will have the better 30 Min. Iron Man Match?

I am actually expecting a Cena run in to cost Angle the match, ignoring the fact that Angle HAS to win if he's to be seen as a credible threat at Taboo Tuesday.

    WWE's Direction:

The one real positive that I can think of over previous years is that the world titles actually mean something again. They no longer get bored and change the title every month like they used to. No matter what you think of Cena & Batista (or JBL & HHH before them), at least they are given proper title runs and built as the biggest star of the show. They almost did it last year, but Orton's disasterous title win was an abortion and not only damaged the title, but killed Orton's heat to the point that he is just now recovering.
  24. Kahran Ramsus

Who will have the better 30 Min. Iron Man Match?

Angle's peak was late 2002-early 2003. HBK's peak was 1996. The answer is easily Daniels/Styles.

He looked good, but what do you have against Carson Palmer?
