It will probably be Orton, but just to be different I will say Brock Lesnar. If a deal is done in which he can come back, it will probably be him since he's the most complete wrestler they've got.

On the far right. It actually got a better buyrate than ONS.

93/94 and 96/97 are the big ones. From 93 to 94 was the end of the 80s basically and the start of the New Generation. Hogan was gone. Savage was basically retired although still wrestled occasionally. Flair was gone. Dibiase was gone. Heenan was gone. Jimmy Hart was gone. Mean Gene was gone. Beefcake was gone. Hennig might as well have been gone. Bossman was gone. We were in the midst of the longest heel run since Billy Graham. Basically every character had undergone a big transformation except for Bret Hart, Yoko, Shawn, IRS & Bam Bam. The new big players were Owen Hart (JTTS in 93), Razor Ramon (big face turn and IC Title run), Lex Luger (complete gimmick change) and Diesel (bodyguard in 93). The entire company was pretty much changed around. Likewise 96/97 was the change into the Attitude Era with a complete makeover of the product. Diesel, Razor, Warrior & Jarrett were sent packing and in their places were Mankind, Steve Austin, The Rock & HHH (being treated seriously for the first time in his career). The biggest star in the company for the past 5 years, Bret Hart, was turned heel and given a controversial heel group. Steve Austin went from loudmouth heel to the biggest star the industry's ever seen. Taker got his first real main event run in 1997 after years of fans complaining that he was underpushed. I'm sure the transition in 83/84 is a big deal too, but that was before my time.

I knew before I even started watching in 1988 during the Hogan/Andre/Dibiase angle. Probably as early as about 1986, although I didn't take any real interest in at that point. I definitely knew by Wrestlemania III that it was fake. So did everybody else though. Nobody at school back then thought it was real. I was never a Hogan fan either. I actually appreciate him now a lot more than I ever did back then. Almost immediately my favourite wrestlers were Savage, Dibiase, Roberts, Rude & Demolition. I didn't start watching NWA/WCW until 1989, right in the middle of the Steamboat/Flair feud.

I'll just have my parents buy it for Christmas, like practically every other system I've gotten. The only one I ever actually bought myself was the N64.

Does anyone else now think that Batista will now get a longer reign than Cena? Especially if Lesnar is coming back. You're right tha Lesnar/Batista would be the best possible main event for Wrestlemania. Lesnar seems to want to come back too, so Vince would be insane not to agree. I'd like to see Batista/Eddy after the JBL feud.

Maybe I got the year wrong. Wasn't JD 2003 the one with HHH/Nash and then the Show/Lesnar Stretcher Match for the main event?

I don't think Christian is talented enough as a wrestler to be able to dominate a match, but the bigger point is if something is working, why change it? Yes, he should be booked more against heels than faces, but that's about it. In normal circumstances you would want to turn him face, but this is WWE. They have screwed up more heel-to-face turns for guys like Christian that I wouldn't trust them not to do it again. Flair cheated like crazy as a face, why can't Christian? This is professional wrestling. Stuff like that happens all the time. It is why I don't want to be a part of the business, but something that people in it should get used to. Blue Meanie is expendable, JBL is not. I don't agree with it, but that's just the way it is. It is why during spats between wrestlers, the promoters almost always side with the one they see more value in (most recently with Edge/Matt). The only time I ever remember them not doing so was the scissors incident in WCW, and Bischoff was facing a near mutiny because pretty much every other wrestler in the lockerroom supported Anderson so he didn't have much choice. And those are for guys who work together. Meanie isn't even employed by them. What does Vince care what happens to him?

HHH doesn't need to job, he just needs to go down the card and not make as many appearances. Sort of like Shawn Michaels. Nobody takes HBK seriously as a main event player, but he serves his role lower down doing high level matches against Kurt Angle, Chris Jericho and the like. And isn't because Shawn jobs all the time either, it is how he is positioned on the card. Kurt Angle is much the same way. He drops down all the time in between his main event runs. HHH isn't the top guy because he's invincible. He's the top guy because the shows are always built around him and he gets more screentime then anybody else. JBL has been in every Smackdown main event for a year, but he doesn't dominate the show week after week. Smackdown is built as much around his opponents as it is him and the lower carders get time to shine.

I know people like to talk about how JBL only won the title to stick it to NBC, but he probably would have won it anyways. He's a McMahon favourite and Eddy was struggling on top (personally, more than business-wise) despite great matches. Didn't surprise me at all that he got a long run afterwards. and quite frankly I thought he was one of the better champions in years, especially since Brock never really got a proper reign (he should have held it straight from Wrestlemania XIX to his loss to Eddy). If Cena was still around then JBL should have been moved down because he lost so convincingly in the blowoff, but with Batista coming over it makes perfect sense to book him against their top heel for the past year. Plus, storyline-wise JBL earns his shots (by winning the 4 Way for Judgment Day and the 6-Pack yesterday) so it isn't like he just gets them handed to him the way HHH does. Even his initial shot against Eddy was 'earned' by winning the Kurt Angle Great American Award. No! Then they would just water him down like they do any other heel they turn face. Leave him as a heel.
-
No, because HHH likes to be in the main event and HHH is on RAW. Seriously. Other than Summerslam last year (not counting Royal Rumbles or Taboo Tuesday where he was in the advertised main), when was the last time he wasn't in the main event of a RAW or Joint PPV? Judgment Day 2003?
-
Running off to play in some other sport never affected Sid's heat, so I don't see why it would Brock's, other than he will likely be a heel when he returns.
-
Exactly. This is why people complain about him dominating the show, even when he jobs. His character is in the main event even when he shouldn't be, and usually he keeps getting title shots until he wins unless he needs to 'take care of some business' first.

For my viewing, I think Smackdown actually came out of the draft the clear victor. Now in real terms, the loss of Cena was a bigger blow than it was to my enjoyment of the product so keep that in mind. Here are your top level guys... RAW HHH Cena HBK Angle Jericho Shelton Carlito Big Show Edge Smackdown Batista JBL Benoit Orton Taker Eddy Rey Booker Christian Hassan Honestly, I'd probably prefer the Smackdown group. Angle is good, but not reliable and aside from him (assuming he's healthy) the only RAW guys that interest me are Shelton and to a lesser extent, Cena. As for the picks... Cena vs. Batista. RAW is the clear victor here, although in terms of personal enjoyment I don't think there is much difference between the two. Angle vs. Benoit. Benoit is clearly above Angle, even when he's healthy. He's still the best in-ring performer in the company. Given Kurt's health problems and the terrible booking he's suffered recently, this is a big win for Smackdown. Big Show vs. Orton. I really dislike Orton, but Big Show is no big loss either. This is a win for RAW, but only by default. Carlito vs. Hassan & Daivari. Both Carlito & Hassan suck in the ring, but SD wins because they get a whole other guy, and he's probably the best wrestler of the three. RVD vs. Christian. I don't like RVD at all, whereas Christian is actually entertaining. Smackdown wins. So 3-2 in favour of Smackdown, and one of RAW's wins isn't exactly stunning.

Kevin Dunn?

I don't usually eat potato chips, but my favourite is All Dressed or Sour Cream & Bacon.
-
Yep.

You forgot the last part. He'll then bury Cena for 9 months before jobbing clean to him in the main event of Mania and then claim he gave Cena the torch, but that Cena fumbled it and he'll have to save the promotion by winning the title back in June.
-
It will be an interpromotional match, but not a RAW vs. Smackdown one. There will be one RAW superstar (Cena & HHH) and one Smackdown superstar (Batista & JBL) on each team.

The one & only OVW...errr, Smackdown thread.

Since when is Hassan a "main eventer"? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You didnt know? Midcarder on Raw=Main Event On Smackdown! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's because there is mobility on Smackdown, whereas everybody gets buried on RAW. -
The One and Only Batman Begins thread
Kahran Ramsus replied to Ravenbomb's topic in Television & Film
Finally saw it. It was basically everything that's been said around here, and it definitely had the best villains of the series. Scarecrow is just as he should be, genuinely creepy and I thought Ra's was even better than Nicholson's Joker. Even Falcone, Earle & Chill were actually characters and not jokes which is something that would never happen in the other series. My main problem with the movie is the score. There just wasn't anything memorable about it all. It just sounded like a generic action movie score. Batman really needs a distinctive theme. I'm not saying Elfman, but just something better than what we got. -
I would, I just don't think it is going to happen.

Air quality concerns and greenhouse gas concerns are two different issues because it isn't the same gases involved, even going by the argument that CO2 is the big problem with global warming.

I also like house shows better than TV shows especially if it is a big local event because usually it means that you will get the top performers and that everyone will try hard. At house shows usually you can get a lot closer to the performers and they are definitely a lot looser and simply enjoying themselves most of the time and it becomes visible in their ring work. Guys like RVD definitely excel in the house show environment. On TV Rob has a tendency to dog it, but at house shows usually he is able to do whatever he wants so he puts more of an effort in. You will often see wrestlers act out of character. One thing you can always count on at house shows is that 90% of the time the faces go over in the main event, so at least the crowd leaves happy.
