    Was ECW...

WCW at its peak. Cruisers (Rey, Dragon, etc.), old school (Hogan, Piper, etc.), brawling (Saturn, Raven, etc.), mat wrestling (Malenko, Benoit, etc.), big fat guys (Giant, Norton, etc.). Basically any type of wrestling you can name, WCW had it from 1995-1998. They even brought in the New Japan guys from time to time.

ROTFLMAO. This man has no credibility left.

    Early Smackdown Taping (*Spoilers*)

Now that he lost at Wrestlemania, I don't really care. I don't think Taker should be doing jobs to Orton, but we all know who won the one the counts. Lets just say I'm not that excited about this pick. I usually like to keep all the 'talent' that turn me off the product (Orton, Masters, Viscera, Grenier, Dean, Maven, Lita, Christy) all on one show. On the bright side, Orton is at least with the better workers (Benoit, Guerrero, Rey, London) so at least his matches won't be terrible, no matter how much he annoys me. BTW, what does the Orton pick do to the suggestions that ECW is taking over Smackdown?

Speaking of KOTOR, I am really enjoying the first one, is the second just as good?

Early number of ONS buys in

WCW completely pissed away its name value in its final two years. With ECW it was there one day and gone the next. WCW wouldn't get near the attention ECW would.

X3 could be in huge trouble

He's better as a villain. He was more entertaining in X-Men Evolution as Magneto's #2 and a foil for Wolverine than he ever was in the comics.

Like I said, I think there could be great value in an annual show, but if you overuse it, you tank the gimmick. You cannot do a weekly show and keep it fresh.

I'm sorry, but this warrants some discussion

To be fair, Alec Guinness made a great Prince Feisal.

Vince wouldn't be trying to outdo ONS, but I wouldn't be shocked if Stephanie & HHH were.

Early number of ONS buys in

The reason this was so successful was because it was billed as being the last ever chance to see ECW, something their fans didn't get when they went out of business. Even WCW fans got a chance to say goodbye. This was basically a nostaliga thing. They will not be able to retain this number if they do it next year (although they should still make a good profit if they just do it annually), let alone if they make ECW into a weekly brand. This was a one-time event and should be treated as such. There is not going to be any earth-shattering changes that come out of this.

Just like I said would happen last week when he got drafted. I don't see where anybody is surprised. The only way Cena gets to sniff the main events is if he is feuding with HHH, and the outcome there won't be good.

Because he's had two shots and we are sick of the feud. Last summer was the same thing, where Benoit got four title victories over him (Wrestlemania, Backlash, Vengeance & Iron Man) and he was still bitching about it. HHH has been conclusively beaten by Batista twice at this point. He shouldn't get another title shot, let alone a HIAC match.

Matt Morgan is actually impressive, but his stuttering gimmick is killing him, and sticking him in with someone even bigger and stronger than him isn't a good way to get him over. RVD never belonged on Smackdown so move him back. He just doesn't work well with anybody on that show. He is also better in the live environment because he pops the crowd, but his ring work is pretty lousy. Kurt doesn't belong on RAW and he's close to done, so it probably doesn't matter in the long run either way. Just do what you can to get some value out of him before he's retired/injured. Undertaker is someone who like RVD would benefit from the live show, but unlike RVD his best potential opponents are on Smackdown (Benoit, Guerrero). They are insane if they move JBL, Guerrero or Misterio so I won't talk about them much. Of the lower card, anybody but the cruisers, the Cabinet, Carlito & MNM would be okay. My guess is Angle, but I hope its RVD. I wouldn't be surprised if it is Jindrak though. They always seem to love pushing him, and it sure ain't going to happen on Smackdown. Feud him with Masters over a mirror or something.

    King of the Ring 2001

Benoit was the one beating up Kurt Angle every week and wrestling 5 falls at Judgment Day. Jericho spent most of the time fighting Regal in comedy matches. Who got the higher spot on the card at Wrestlemania? Jericho or Benoit? And once HHH went down it was Benoit, not Jericho who was wrestling in the main events against Austin. Benoit was easily above Jericho at this point. We are talking about the booking plans before the injury.

That would have been dumb since Benoit was the more over and heavily pushed of the two at the time. Benoit/Austin and Jericho/HHH would have made more sense.

There haven't been any true classics in the past couple of years, but the game I had the most fun playing was Sid Meier's Pirates.

Dooku & Maul would have teamed up to take out Palpatine. As it is Dooku tries working on Obi-Wan in ATOC, it just doesn't work.

    Did he know?

The belief at the time was that the Japanese were likely to attack at some point, but that the target would be the Phillipines so that they could get access to the oil rich Dutch East Indies. Very few believed that there would actually be an air raid on Pearl and any evidence to suggest that there might be was ignored until too late or got lost in communication. Yes, FDR wanted in the war, but Japan was going to attack anyways and he would have gotten it. Therefore it makes terrible strategic sense to leave the Pacific Fleet stationed there (prior to Midway the Americans were losing the war). If he knew about it early enough to do anything, the battleships would have been moved out of there. FDR's importance in this is overstated anyways. Army Chief of Staff General George C. Marshall and Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Harold R Stark were the ones directly calling the shots for most of this.

    What stars never reached

Scott Hall. Many people considered him the next big star even as early as in the AWA days when he was teaming with Hennig. Then he became a jobber in WCW for awhile, before going to the WWF and being one of the top guys for a few months in the winter, putting over Bret Hart in January and he never sniffed the main events again as a singles wrestler. The height of his career was leeching off of two bigger stars in the NWO. It was largely his own fault, but he never came close to where he could have been.

    Turning WCW around in 2000.

Oh absolutely. I'm just saying is all, if Ted Turner remained in power, they would likely still be around. That's why I mentioned earlier that the Radicalz defection was the point of no return given the circumstances. The AOL merger isn't something the company can control. Benoit leaving as World Champion is.

The OAO WWE Progress Discussion: Year-Half Edition

Best Worker - Kurt Angle. If Shelton Benjamin hadn't had a completely worthless 3 months of the year (not his fault), I would have said him, but reluctantly in terms of in-ring performance I have to go with Kurt Angle. He's had good-to-great matches every PPV he was on this year and his match with HBK stole the show at Mania. He's also had good work with JBL on Smackdown. Nobody was really standout this half-year, but he's been the most consistant. Most Improved - JBL. Easily. He was underrated last year, but he really started taking off this year to the point that the Internet was pretty much hoping that he would defeat Cena at Mania. One of, if not the most entertaining wrestler in the company right now. The I Quit match at Judgment Day was the best match of both his and Cena's career. Spot of the Year - Shelton Benjamin's springboard into Superkick in the first round of the Gold Rush tournament. Best finish to any match this year. Although in all honestly if you did a top ten list of spots, Benjamin probably did the majority of them, but this was my personal favourite. Biggest Dissapointment - Edge/Batista for the World Title. They had a chance to really do something different, and given the backup of Edge's Money in the Bank contract anything could have happened. Instead we got a lame HHH return to RAW and a fake Flair face turn that fans saw coming a mile away. Edge, Christian & Tomko were essentially buried in the process, and even Batista to an extent. Biggest misfire of the year. Most Fun to Watch/Best Match - Shelton Benjamin vs. Shawn Michaels, Gold Rush Tournament First Round. For the first time in ages, my match of the half year happened on free television. It isn't so much that it was the best techinically executed match as it was just a joy to watch and was something different from the normal WWE match. Funniest Moment - Christian's Royal Rumble rap with help from Tomko. Tomko's reaction here is priceless, and Christian is always good for humour if nothing else. Best PPV - Judgment Day. By a mile. There are four good matches here which is double the next best PPV (Wrestlemania) and even stuff like the Tag Title match is enjoyable. Certainly the best main event of the year with the final Cena/JBL blowoff. Some of the angles leading up to the show weren't the greatest, but I can't find much fault in anything that actually happened on the show itself.

    Turning WCW around in 2000.

Well, if we truly want to be honest, WCW wouldn't have gone out of business if not for the Time Warner/AOL merger. Turner would have eaten any losses the company had, but once the suits took over the company was finished.

SmackDown's 1st Draft Lottery Pick is...

Since my sister blabbed, I am free to come here now. I was pretty angry on Monday (and make no mistake, it is very bad for Cena), this certainly lifts my spirits by a great deal. Benoit never belonged on RAW in the first place, and it was time to get him back with guys like Eddy Guerrero & Kurt Angle. Smackdown may have lost week one in realistic terms, but for my enjoyment, I'll take Benoit over Cena any day. Now I have no clue what Benoit did on Smackdown, but I would absolutely love to see him feud with JBL.
