One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread

You mean re-released. The original ROTJ novelization came out around the same time the movie did. I have some version from the early 90s. There were a couple of differences in the book though that I prefer from the movie. One, Palpatine (or Vader, I can't quite remember which one) knew that Yoda trained Luke and find out by scanning his mind that he was dead. Two, when the battle was going south for the Empire they were targetting the Death Star at Endor which made the final flight through the Death Star by Lando more tense. -
It was okay, but both guys have had much better brawls. If you look at Shawn's matches with Undertaker or Trip's matches with Foley, the Summerslam match just doesn't come close. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't particularly good either. It was just sort of there, and I've mostly forgotten it by this point.

MNF tends to get a different audience, although there are some like me that jump from RAW to MNF during football season. 24 seems to be in more direct competition seeing as how popular it seems to be among most wrestling fans on the Net.

Shawn is perfect where is now. Around the top, always a threat cuz he is a legend, but never wins the big one. That's basically what I meant. He's good at that, but he can't carry the promotion any more. I actually wouldn't mind Shawn/Batista for a month rather than going with yet another Batista/HHH match.

The WWE Title changed hands in 9/03, but the World Title has never changed hands on free TV. I meant one of the 'world' titles (should have made that more clear), but you answered my doubts anyways.
-
The problem with that is if Shawn really is out for around 8 months, that puts his return near the Royal Rumble, and you know that Hunter is going to want to headline a WM with what, in his mind, is the modern day version of Flair v Steamboat. In any event, they will feud again at some point. I never said I was optimistic. You know, for two guys that have been together for so long and have been wrestling each other off and on since 1996, they really don't mesh well at all. The only real good singles match between the two that I can think of was the one on RAW in December 2003. The HIAC and Three Stages of Hell matches in particular were brutal. Nothing good can come from another HHH/HBK feud. I would love to see HBK/Guerrero at XXII though.

To my knowledge, they haven't dropped the title free TV since September 2003. I say 'to my knowledge' because I have a tendency to miss a lot of RAWs during MNF season. Goldberg's title run in particular is a big blur, because I was really hating RAW around that time.

Shawn should never be a tippy-top guy again, but he's an asset to the show. Just keep him away from HHH. That feud has been done more than Yanks/Sawx.

If Carrie wins it could be the beginning of the decline for this show.
-
WWE seems to take that literally at times.

24 Finale? But I can't imagine too many more people would have watched that than any other episode given the format of the show.

The problem with Kurt Angle is that whenever he is gaining momentum, they stick him a Gooker-Award Candidate angle and it kills all his heat. Prior to this latest storyline he was becoming a real threat again, fresh off of making HBK tap at Mania, and it should have been a no-brainer to go with the easy match at Great American Bash with the rebel Cena against the traditional American Hero. But this whole thing with Booker's wife completely killed off his heat. Kane is in the same situation on RAW. Whenever he starts catching fire, they stick him in some lame 'comedy' angle.

Don't forget Carlito. Eddy Guerrero's been good lately too.

That's why his worst PPV drew better than HHH/HBK at Taboo Tuesday. HBK can be spared somewhat because he wasn't announced ahead of time, but what's HHH's excuse? I agree on his reign ending, but that was a bad booking decision. If JBL survived at Mania, then lost the title in the I Quit match, it would have ended up much better. Not so sure about Undertaker, because he can/could really go when he wanted to. He's not as good as he used to be, but he still knows how to wrestle a match. Taker/Angle would be better than Orton/Angle by a longshot. JBL has had very good matches in the past year, certainly more than the other guys you have mentioned, so I will agree on your point that JBL is underrated in the ring. He's not. Many times he has been made to look bad (usually in the purpose of getting someone else over, but he hasn't been the strongest champion in memory), but just take a look at the split PPVs where his matches always get the shaft. At Royal Rumble, JBL/Angle/Show was the best match of the undercard, yet Heidenreich/Taker got more time and the awful Orton/HHH match got double the time. Also, JBL often has to have massive interference to retain, but HHH gets all the cheap heat tricks in the book (like at Wrestlemania). HHH is the most protected wrestler on the roster, period.

We really need a PPV to go by without HHH in the main event.

It is kind of hard to feel sorry for Kane given how the marriage happened in the first place. I say he is only getting what he deserves.
-
I thought this was the best season.

He has earned his spot, but it was a long time before yesterday. He started really taking off sometime last fall. Honestly, he is one of the few reasons I even watch it anymore. He is far and away the best heel in the promotion with only the recently turned Eddy Guerrero approaching him. Especially since Kurt Angle was killed off with the horrible rape angle. I will go out of my way to watch the JBL segments, and I no longer do that for any other wrestler in the promotion, save Chris Benoit who has been my favourite wrestler for 8 years. He has more than earned his spot.

Jack Bauer is the greatest character on television.

I've watched this show from the beginning too, and on paper Sergio is in over his head. But we've already seen several upsets, so who knows?

I'd go with the opposite. Vader was so focused in killing Obi-Wan and lashing out at him, that the more observant Obi-Wan was able to put himself in an advantageous position. Obi-Wan has him beat before that final move (like he says), but Vader tries for it anyways out of hatred/egotism. Obi-Wan is simply more aware of his surroundings in that fight. You see it all the way through. Vader is simply chasing him for the most part, especially in the later half of the duel. -

ET was huge back when I was younger. That and Indiana Jones, although Jones didn't have as wide of an appeal as ET had. -
